Goat Hill Park
About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

San Clemente Surprise
Great mix of holes. Greens were in great shape. Fred Couples architected a real gem.
Super San Clemente
Fair price. Course was in great shape. If you can’t get into San Clemente municipal or another resort course, go here.
Goat Hill
We purchased a round which included a cart. When we arrived the older woman working the cash register was not only clearly extremely unhappy working there (look on her face, not friendly, no greeting, no smile, seemed irritated, I could go on and on) but she proceeded to charge us for carts. We showed her that our reservation included a cart and she still argued that it did not even with showing her our GolfPass reservation that said “includes cart”. She did not refund us the extra charge for cart so we double paid for carts. The course is under maintenance so I won’t comment on that at this time as I understand they’re working on improving it. There are some nice elevated tee boxes which are fun. The driving range looks nice. The restrooms are clean and well maintained.
Challenging course.
This course offers challenges to every golfer. The layout of the course was compact thus there are lots of people on the course at different hole locations. the price to pay was very reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful. The pace of play was very slow mid-day. We waited at least 5-10 minutes per hole to proceed with our round. This was frustrating but the weather was great. If you're looking for a challenging short course this could be the place.
It’s very good golf course.
The fairway condition is very good and it’s very challenging golf course.
Golf fee is also very reasonable.
GH
Came down from OC to finally check out the goat...What a gem of a place. Quality (greens, tee boxes and driving range center are great), good vibes, no pretension...wish more courses would take a page out of GH’s playbook.
Fun and challenging course
This course is hilly with uneven terrain which make it very challenging. Many holes feature shots that must carry a small gorge and the greens are undulating, and in a plateau. There are no water hazards and just a few bunkers to worry about. The course is not long with many short par 4 holes and just one par 5.hole. But I highly recommend this fun course for the above characteristics.
GREAT COUSE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTORMER SERVICE
12:30 tee time on Saturday 6/12/21 arrived on time went to pay and was immediately greeted by the club house employee that obviously wasn't having a good day. Not sure if he is always a pr!ck or if I caught him on a good one. Bottom-line my family and I drove 2 hours to play and we were excited when we got there but this guy is completely wrecked our vibe he was completely unprofessional it's sucks because we enjoyed the round but this guy got way out of line with my nephew & other family members we well traveled golfers will not be back to Goat Hill again.
This course needs work
Lots of dirt and rough conditions. The drink cart was a guy with a cooler and a pop up tent. Not what I expected for the price.
Golf course of tomorrow
First off, it’s a short course. Par 65. The one par five is reachable in 2 and a few of the 4’s are reachable but because of layout it’s more challenging than the length makes you assume. Super fun. Honestly it felt like the mix between brewery, top golf and traditional golf. The branding of the course is perfect as are the hole descriptions. I have never had as fun as I did today at a new course at this price point. My biggest regret is that I live in LA and can’t make this my new home course. Staff was super friendly and they were re-sodding it to make it even better. We played early so there wasn’t a bar open yet, but the area I assume is the bar was cool too. Pumped on it. GoatHill was the GOAT of new courses
Tune Up Your Short Game
Fun little, old school course. Course was in decent shape. Nice fairways, true greens and fun variety of holes. Lot of construction going on but didn’t interfere too much. A bit pricey at $56 but hey, it’s San Diego.
Making big improvements
They are really fixing this place up. New range. Redoing many fairways. Greens look great (slow). Pace of play was fantastic. Got a hot deal for $23 and worth every penny. Will definitely be playing the Goat a lot more!
Not your Old Goat Hill
This course has improved tremendously over the last couple years. Now they have a brand new driving range with flat screens looks to be state-of-the-art but wasn't up and running when I was there. Greens are in great shape as usual for them now needs a little bit of work on the fairways but appears to be in progress. Great value and challenge for all players.
Goat Hill, tough layout
First time there, liked layout, and the fact they are trying to improve the course.
