Whispering Lakes Golf Course

City of Ontario did the community a huge disservice! The fairways are absolutely garbage some areas was like hitting off concrete. dead grass fairways gopher holes everywhere geese are destroying course. Tee boxes are bad. Greens were the best part & even then they weren’t properly maintained. Geese are the issue. Course needs more love. Raised to prices for what? To pay off carts? Won’t be playing here for a long time. 👎🏼

Greens are small and pumpy..

Under new management.. They need to put money into the golf course and not all the other B.S.

They have Top-of-the-line golf carts for the bottom-of-the-line golf course.

Horrible pace of play. Up to 6 carts waiting at tee boxes several times. Cart paths and anything outside of fairways are extremely rugged.

Fairways and areas around the greens ans super poor and not well maintained. Greens are fine but for whatever reason very small. Fairway conditions and green size make it unreasonably difficult to play this course.

Overall a solid course for the price. Fairways are rough but greens are well kept. Good mix of par 3-5 holes. Golf carts are great with GPS system, cooler, and ball/club cleaner.

The fairways are not smooth by any means dirt mounds everywhere the greens had track or tire marks all over tje place

course layout is fun. it is not the best condition in the area but the money is worth it. be aware of the very slow 4 somes walker, we played behind them 2 weeks in a row. they were like 2-3 holes behind, and they would just stop in the middle of fairway for no reason like 5mins and talked. And, the real problem is that they play there every Sunday according to one of the staff.

I can’t believe they are booking tee times with a course that is in such bad shape and neglected. If you have an off road vehicle, bring it so you can use it as your golf cart. There are better courses in the area, even in the Dino.

Every thing about this facility is bad. Except the personnel.

The condition of the course is Terrible, Could never call them Fairways .. Shocking …..Tee blocks were below average

Really bro? $43 for a hot deal in the weekday? It literally costs less if you walked in the clubhouse and got a tee time and a cart. Not to mention, they have raised prices, but have drastically made the condition of the course worse. Greens are now slower and bumpy and fairways are totally dry, patchy, and just terrible. You turned a reasonably priced course in good condition to just a terrible course.

So I guess they don't have any course marshals enforcing pace of play. We were zipping along on the front nine (9am on a Monday) barely waiting each hole at a standard pace. Then once we got to the back we had to start to wait which got worse and worse where the last 7 holes was a 5-10 minute wait at each hole.

Course conditions were nice for the price, fairways were decent, greens rolled well, bunkers played well.

If I were to play here again I would go first thing in the morning or ask to start on the back and hit the front after the turn.

Im at the end of my patients with the Sr Men’s Club at Whispering Lakes and I’m not the only one.

I don’t care what response this post may stir up - it’s a mess.

No transparency in the money in - money out with bets.

Suggestions to add additional board members fall on deaf eyes

No member appreciation for the fees paid or where the heck the member fees go ($100 to join, $30 goes towards your SCGA handicap - “NO” transparency for “years” on where or how that $70 is used or spent.

You state your concerns in confidence and you hear from others “your” the complainer and no resolution to the problem.

And now the straw that broke my back! Letting members play in net betting rounds with only 3 posted scores in the 8 months of 2024! SANDBAGGERS!! (And the club has a handicap chair)

You may think this is just a disgruntled member - but I’m good friends with a large part of the membership group.

Crazy thing is, I play with another men’s group, the topic of my frustration came up sitting in the 19th hole - and was surprised to hear 3 of the guys at our table left the Whispering Lakes Sr’s group because of their own issues of frustration.

However, all said - if your out for just a day of golf without participating in the gross or net or CTP’s games - this group may be for you!!
