Great Value
This course is fun. The only complaint which is the consistent complaint is the pace of play. However, when 4 old dudes put out like they are on the PGA tour, you really can't help that. The bottom line is that for $74 at 9:10am on a Sunday you can't really beat the price. The greens were just as good as any course around here and I play them all including private clubs.
Good not great
Pro shop staff was great. Course conditions were fair. My biggest gripe was the pin placements. I love a good challenge and don’t mind shooting mid/high 80s despite being an 8 handicap… I enjoy the challenge. But some of the pin placements we saw on Saturday were just simply stupid. Directly on a hill where the only place to “miss below the hole” was a 3 yard window.
I’ve played private courses on “monster day” when they intentionally put the pins in absurdly difficult spots, and even that didn’t compare to the Vineyard. Greens were firm and fast (which I like), but when the pin is on a 5° slope it’s just ridiculous. USGA states no rule of an “illegal pin placement” so they didn’t do anything wrong, it just was past the point of challenging and reached a level of simply not fun.
All in all, will still play here again. The layout and green conditions were pretty solid.. I just wish we didn’t get penalized for hitting a “good but not perfect” approach or lag putt
Course is in great shape
Enjoyed playing the course i.e. challenging and in excellent condition. Would be great if golf carts were in better condition and included GPS.
Fairways are bare
Greens were the only part of this course that were acceptable. The fairways were so scruffy and bare in many spots that your ball just had nothing to hold it and it would roll off into trouble, even for really good shots. This is a $40 course, not a $74 course for these conditions.
Beautiful course
It’s a beautiful course. I played at 3:00 pm and was able to play to the 12th hole. It was a great price for that time.
Awful people
Pace is awful, conditions swiftly declining, and the rudest staff you will ever encounter. I loathe this course.
Good shape this time of year
Bunkers need some other than that course in good condition
My least favorite course in SD
My tee time was 10:20 on a Saturday morning. I assumed a 5hr round was in store, boy was I wrong. I called the course 2 hours before my round to ask if there was a frost delay since it hit 38° the night before. The person in the clubhouse said, 'no, we're are running on time'. I get to the course all 20+ range bays were occupied with people waiting. We finally teed off at 10:45, it was cart path only. We have a lot of rain recently but not much since Monday, most holes had been under water can't blame the course for that. The greens were good, the rain definitely was good for them. We finished our round at 3:45, 5hrs and 25 minutes after out tee time.
The Vineyards is not worth the $20 you save on tee times. It's a hassle dealing with all the people, the layout is one of the worst in North county and for the revenue they create it is not we'll maintained. The only redeeming quality was awesome bartender at the turn. I won't go back.
Little muddy out- was okay
Great service, good food. Can’t complain much about the course condition after all the rain. Rough was thick!
Greens were in good shape. Rolled true. Nuisance to me was lack of ball washers and no water buckets to dip my towel. Sand traps were mostly unplayable. Golf carts were looking pretty ragged, seats were torn. No GPS. I thought they had gps before? Maybe not.
Food and customer service made up for it. Tee boxes were a little beat up.
Worth looking at don't expect a fast round
Worth looking at for the dollar. All courses in San Diego flooded out with the rains and was cart path only. Greens were good and quick Fairways ok tee boxes need tlc. Course had an interesting layout fairly forgiving and a challenge. Under better conditions it be a good one to try
All sand traps were full of rain water.
Naturally, cart path only rules followed, making course play very slow
Many pools of water on course.
Just a bad day to play.
Solid Course
Played here a few times now & it’s always a fun time. The front 9 and back 9 are very different in a good way.
Nice Day
Tee’d off at 820. Finished at noon!!!! Greens were rolling smooooooth. Besides not much sand in bunkers, course was great, pace of play was good, track man on range, and nice day. I would recommend this course to anyone. It’s hit or miss with pace of play but can’t wrong with Vineyard.
Good course great layout
Nice fun track located close to the 15. Fun course for all handicaps.
