A Good Day in Escondido
I've played this course several times before. It's a decent track with only two par 5's. The course was in good shape with a couple of areas closed for renovation that didn't impact play. The driving range was also closed for improvements, which was a bummer. Overall, it's a good course that is close to home and easy on the wallet. I would definitely recommend.
The gem of Escondido
I always have a fun time playing at The Vineyard. The course is just about always beautiful. Even when under construction, the course is fantastic. You really do get the best bang for your buck when you play at The Vineyard.
Beautiful, mountain and Vinyard views
Awesome course. Back 9 is so beautiful. At this value, no wonder it is busy.
Not worth the money
Check in process unsatisfactory. Computer system malfunction delayed check in 30+ minutes. Had to give credit card information on slip of paper to start playing.
Poor communication between check-in staff and marshal led to confusion over golf cart assignment and rushed arrival at first tee.
Course conditions maintained to $20-30 green fee standard despite green fee $65. Some fairway and majority off-fairway conditions dry and brown with dead grass and dirt.
18th hole had tons of range balls with blocked line of sight from most fairway approach angles, making it extremely difficult to find balls within 40 yards of green.
Computer system malfunction caused session to report to Golf Now as no show resulting in double charge from both Golf Now and the credit card information on paper slipped the course used once computer system came back up. Called course four separate times before money was finally refunded two weeks later.
This course presented more hassle than any course I've played. With the number of great courses the San Diego area has, pass on this one.
Great Day for Golf
Weather was 72°, light breeze, blue sky. Pace of play was best in a long time. Course was green and not dry yet. Greens almost perfect with plenty of stick on approach shots.
Rough Day
I’ve played the course before and enjoyed previous experience. This day started off with the systems down in pro shop and I was handed a form to fill out with my credit card number and signature. Our group filled our forms and were charged accordingly. Our group of 4 started out behind a group of 3 and the pace was very slow throughout. We could visibly see the group in front was a full hole ahead and it seemed they were taking lessons. The ambassador arrived at the 7th tee box and was having a conversation with the group while we were all standing approx 30 yards behind them patiently however it was not to ask them to keep up pace or let us pass. They all seemed to know each other. Round took 5 hrs and 30 minutes. A few days later I was charged by golf now for not showing up to tee time. I called both golf now and Vineyard to resolve however have not had a response yet from either. I am more disappointed in the repose from Vineyard management as I have called twice with no response or resolution. Golf now app is not user friendly with on line customer service.
Great, well maintained course
Great value for the money. Had a 6am tee time with a buddy on a Saturday and we had a blast. Course was well maintained and pace was about as expected. 4 hours for 2. Highly recommend!
Bang for your buck
This course is in excellent condition. With the price I paid, it was a steal! The staff was friendly and accommodating. I’ll be coming back.
Vineyard Golf Course
This is a good course to play in Escondido. The staff were helpful and the greens are in good shape. The pace of play was slow.
Better than a few month ago
We teed off 11:10, so the pace is pretty good. Afternoon twilight times will be slow.
The overall condition is better than a few months ago. Part of the fairways on 9 and 11 have been replaced with new sod. But did not see watering ....kind of lost the meaning of it. Grass on greens are all very good, but very slow as foot/spike prints and ball marks are all over. They have not been cut (or rolled, probably never) for a while. The layout is somewaht challenging so very interesting to play. Hope the condition contiues to improve and I'll be back.
Beautiful views, nice course
Nice course. Good layout, beautiful views of the mountains and vineyards
Vinyard golf Escondido
Like many courses, fairways need attention ( they are resodding some...so they're trying). Bunkers not good...cement...good value through TeeOff.
Great course for the green fees
The Vineyard is a fun course. A couple of the longer holes were shortened due to sodding and course improvements. The greens were really good. Pure rolls. I look forward to coming back.
