Seems to be a lot work going on.
No players prior to us were raking the bunkers. Probably because there were limited rakes if you could find one. Fairways on several holes were just terrible…. No grass or marked as GUR. It appears they are working to improve but I won’t be playing again until conditions improve.
A retirement round
Retired after 44 years, so golfed w a buddy from Boise
Great conditions and nice pace of play
Fun round of golf
Friendly staff, new. challenge and good pace of play made for an enjoyable day at the Vineyard course.
Not in great condition & average layout
Overall, it’s a decent course. Several fairways were patchy, lots of dry grass outside the fairway, the bunkers were hard as a rock, and there was no rough to speak of. The design overall is quite straightforward (drive, approach) and doesn’t require a lot of strategizing, with the exception of maybe a couple of holes. It’s what I would describe as an average course for an average rate, so overall the value is decent.
Fun, but challenging.
This is a great course with a layout that has multiple terrain changes, lots of water and some tricky approaches. Fun course and well worth the money. Although the greens were running a bit slow and the bunkers need some attention.
A Good Day in Escondido
I've played this course several times before. It's a decent track with only two par 5's. The course was in good shape with a couple of areas closed for renovation that didn't impact play. The driving range was also closed for improvements, which was a bummer. Overall, it's a good course that is close to home and easy on the wallet. I would definitely recommend.
The gem of Escondido
I always have a fun time playing at The Vineyard. The course is just about always beautiful. Even when under construction, the course is fantastic. You really do get the best bang for your buck when you play at The Vineyard.
Beautiful, mountain and Vinyard views
Awesome course. Back 9 is so beautiful. At this value, no wonder it is busy.
Not worth the money
Check in process unsatisfactory. Computer system malfunction delayed check in 30+ minutes. Had to give credit card information on slip of paper to start playing.
Poor communication between check-in staff and marshal led to confusion over golf cart assignment and rushed arrival at first tee.
Course conditions maintained to $20-30 green fee standard despite green fee $65. Some fairway and majority off-fairway conditions dry and brown with dead grass and dirt.
18th hole had tons of range balls with blocked line of sight from most fairway approach angles, making it extremely difficult to find balls within 40 yards of green.
Computer system malfunction caused session to report to Golf Now as no show resulting in double charge from both Golf Now and the credit card information on paper slipped the course used once computer system came back up. Called course four separate times before money was finally refunded two weeks later.
This course presented more hassle than any course I've played. With the number of great courses the San Diego area has, pass on this one.
