Lake spivey

Fairway rough is overgrown. If your not in the fairway, you won't find your ball. The greens are slow and cancerous with no fringe

Never Again

I played this course about a year ago and it was terrible. It had been awhile and I had forgotten just how bad things were. By time we got to the first tee (horribly marked and hard to find as they swapped the front and back 9s) I immediately remembered the experience. Nothing is kept up. Not the tee boxes, not the fairways, not the traps and definitely not the greens. There were huge black patches of dirt and dozens of weeds on EVERY SINGLE GREEN. More rocks (not pebbles) than sand in the traps. Horrible experience. The complete lack of trying is what’s most disappointing.

Yikes!

The greens are in really bad shape and the fairways/tee boxes haven’t been mowed in a while it seems.

Really Bad

Played 18 holes today at Lake Spivey. It's bad. The greens were burnt, bare, mis cut. There were places on the second cut around the green that resembled deep rough like you would expect on the fairway. Bunkers were not maintained. I don't normally write reviews, but I'm hoping that the owners of Lake Spivey read this. This golf course was my go-to course about 3 years ago. It's shocking how bad it has degraded. I've seen this before with Cottonfields golf course before it closed last year. The facilities and staff were not the problem today. To the owners: Do better or sell to someone who can manage it better. Raise your prices if you have to but charging the public $50+ dollars for this is unethical.

Course overall was great for its value but the green condition could be improved as it had bumps and rough patches. In addition, the tee boxes were incredibly difficult to tee off of as the ground was solid. Staff was extremely friendly and easily approachable.

Friendly staff, terrible condition

Greens felt like you were landing and putting on the fairway of a public course with bare/damaged areas everywhere. Tee boxes were rock solid and half dirt/half grass at best. Fairways weren’t terrible but damaged in several areas.

Only pro is that the staff was friendly and transparent about the condition of the course before we got out there. Paid $50/person on a Saturday morning hot deal and should be paying half of that due to the conditions alone, regardless of day or time.

Save your money

Worst course I have ever played in 50 years of golf. Greens were unplayable, poorly cut when grass was present, parking lot was smoother. Fringe around greens was 6-8” deep and extended +10 ft. From green. Tee boxes were concrete- could not get a tee in the ground.

Total course is in the final stages before closing.

Couldn’t pay me to return. Save your money.

Not worth playing

Worst course I’ve ever played. Greens are unplayable, green fringe is unplayable 6”-8” uncut grass at least 10 ft to edge of green. Fairways uncut. Tee boxes like concrete.

Couldn’t pay me to return. Very run down course.

Worst course I’ve ever played.

Tee boxes like cement and haphazardly cut. Greens were uncut and unputtable., patchy and bare. One foot thick collars around greens unplayable. Golf cart paths were undriveable with bumps and gaps.

Could have charged $1 and that would be overpriced!!!

Worse course I’ve ever played.

Predict they will be closed by year end.

I owe this review to my fellow golfers

Positively the worst golf course I have played in 25 years. I used to play here in 1999 when I moved to the area. Then I joined a club and quit public golf. Recently resigned from the club and now play public courses. This used to be a good golf course. It is absolutely awful now. I don't know where to start. Tee boxes are so hard you can't get a tee in the ground. Most have little grass. Fairways have little grass and are hard. However they don't mow around the greens and the grass is 6 in. deep right up to the putting surface. Lost several balls less than foot off the green. Greens have hugh patches with no grass. The grass on the greens where there is some is too long. very slow. And they have allowed the greens to shrink in size The smallest greens I have ever played on a regulation golf course.

On the positive side, their golf carts are nice.

Wow bad

The course is in horrible shape. It’s difficult to find ground in the tee box that will take the tee.

The greens are the worst of any I’ve ever seen. It was where it wasn’t bare and bald it was like putting on an old shag carpet.

Dude in the clubhouse was nice and I got a hot link sausage at the turn that was delicious. That’s about it for redemption.

Not Worth It

As many reviews here say, the course is in poor, poor condition. Greens are half brown and rocky, not cut, the rough is the woods, the fairway is a poorly kept back yard. Feels a little sad, like something could be done with the place. The layout is nice, course has a lot of potential but just not taken care of at all. Pro shop feels like a mall you stepped into holding on for life, the bar and restaurant area just closed down and could be a good hang, driving range is again just hitting balls in your backyard.

DisapppointedBogeyGolfer

Been playing this course for years, and it’s a shame that they’re charging people $60+ to play an unplayable course. No point in even attempting to putt, the greens are non existent. No aerificetion alert, just being told AS YOU PAY….that the greens are “a little rough”. Stay away, give this course time to be actually maintained.
