Absolutely will not come back to play this course.

The course is completely a mess. Every green was trashed. Just completely torn up. The tee boxes were hard like a rock, couldn’t get a tee in the ground and again trashed. Looks like they just gave up on taking care of the course. Plus your doors don’t open till 7am on a wknd, in the summer. That was the last time I play there. Absolutely the worst course in Atlanta so far..

Bad Shape For The Cost

The greens are in terrible shape. The tee boxes are also not doing well. The course has a lot of potential, but it currently feels overpriced for what you get.

Terrible course conditions

The greens were awful, unkept and were unplayable. Putting was impossible. Fairways looked like they hadn’t been mowed in a week. I attend this course a lot but it was the worst I’ve experienced ever. I play everyone Sunday around town but it will be hard to return there.

Rough shape

Unfortunately, the condition of the course was very disappointing. The greens were overgrown and patchy, with large areas of dirt and sand where grass had clearly died. The tee boxes were in such poor shape that I couldn’t get a tee in the ground on about 90% of them. Overall, the course is in serious need of maintenance. Some general upkeep around the course is also overdue.

Unplayable

This course shouldn’t be played…not for $60. There’s no point in using a putter because the greens have holes, muddy spots, crab grass, you name it, it’s there. Tee boxes aren’t even marked half the time. Save you time, gas and money and find another course until they can actually maintain this one. Our golf group used to play this frequently, pretty sad how bad this course has become.

Over Priced

Greens were in terrible shape. For $55 it's overpriced. Knowing the condition of the greens, play should have been discounted. Will not return with the current cost's.

*ABSOLUTE JOKE*

Let me start this off by saying I’ve played Spivey more times than I can count. I’m 34, my uncle use to be a head professional here when I was a kid. To say I’ve played here a bunch is an understatement. This course use to be THE premier golf course on the south side for YEARS! This course is done…… this is the first time I’ve been in about 4-5 years. I quit going because of the course conditions and now I wish for those conditions. Let’s start from the top. Staff was some of the most friendly I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Clubhouse…. Completely bare. Literally a couple hats and a couple sleeves of balls…. That’s it. Range balls appear to be older than me. Driving range looks to be the aftermath of an air strike…. Carts, appears to be decent from a far but sound like they are going to fall apart and quit at any givin moment. All of that was the good part. The course…… Tee boxes are Barron and hard as a rock, bring a hammer. Fairways are decent but don’t miss them. Rough?????? Nah, Un consistent jungle. I’m not kidding. Rough could being anything from Bermuda that’s over 15” thick to weeds higher than your ankle. I hit a ball that 4 of us literally what trickle into the rough….. we never found the ball. About insanity. Greens were the worst I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ll be generous and say half the greens were dead. What grass was there was thick and patchy. I’ve played on fairways faster these greens….. just like the fairways the fringe was maddening. The fringe consisted of weeds some of which is 4”-6” thick crabgrass. We grabbed a $18 hot deal and that was to much money…. I can say with complete honesty I wouldn’t set foot back on this course if somebody else paid for everything. Shut this place down and preserve it’s legacy of what was. It’s sad!

Greens in bad condition

This used to be a really nice course. It has great potential. Unfortunately the greens are in horrible shape. They need to hire a real superintendent.

Don’t waste your time or money

They have let the course go downhill fast. Shaggy or beat up or diseased greens. Out of control ruff that has not been cut in some time and to top it off the finishing hole is infested with geese and their poop all over the green. Impossible to put without rolling over geese poop. Also, with 20+ geese on the green it takes luck to not hit one with a ball. Absolutely one of the worst maintained courses in Atlanta.

Save yourself don’t come here

First off $60 for this course is horrible. Sand of every single green but one and the grass on the green was overgrown and very inconsistent. I’m very fair when it comes to this stuff but this course made me write a bad review which is a first, it was that bad. Many better options

Fast pace, great layout for all skill levels

Have always loved playing Lake Spivey and have really enjoyed how it’s changed over the years. It’s a hidden gem on the Southside. Great course to play during the week, you can get around quickly while being challenged with the layout.

Great Day

I would recommend this golf course to anyone I’ve been playing here since 2014. Every course has it ups and downs, but Lake Spivey continues to be one of my go to.
