Great afternoon of golf!
It’s my first visit to the Palm Springs area, and I’m here in my own. It’s been a little hard to meet people, so I scheduled a quick round of twilight golf. Being from Denver, I just don’t get to play as often as I’d like.
I hadn’t even made it to the clubhouse before a pair of ladies waiting to tee off on the 1st hole struck up a conversation as I was passing by and we ended up making a plan to play later this week!
I rounded the corner, and Wow! This a pretty course!
The staff was very friendly too- from the manager, to the guys in the pro shop, to the staff in the clubhouse, I had such a good experience that I signed up for a package of private lessons. I was warned that the 9th hole was not “kind” (lol) - and they were right: Yes, it is one dirty dog, but fun too.
It was just by luck I booked the round here initially, but I’m so grateful I did. I’ll definitely be returning.
Don’t have a drink after your round
Closed the driving range early so couldn’t warm up. Course Marshall asked us to keep up with the group ahead of us unaware that the group had teed off 30 minutes before us.
Then when we went to the bar we wee charged $25 for a small glass of warm white wine and a margarita PLUS $7 was charged to our credit card AFTER we had signed the $25 bill. When brought to the attention of management by email no reply. Shady.
Great value, in great shape!
DI is undergoing management changes but has maintained the course beautifully. The caricature of female golfer as a Fox is a bit offensive, but other than that, all was good. The water hazards not only make the course interesting, but actually smell good-not chlorinated OR skanky, just nice and fresh. Will happily play the course again next season!
Desert Island meets expectations
Once again, this course lives up to its billing. Situated right across from SUNNYLANDS, it’s a reputation that requires work. They do it well. Great layout, greens aren’t overly fast, and that means most will be able to “read” them well after a couple holes. Sand traps are a bit soggy and hard in places but overall in decent shape. Played in 4 hours and I will definitely be back. Thx for the great experience.
You’ll want to play this one time and time again!
We loved this course! The staff could not have been more attentive to our needs. The course is beautiful. It is in excellent condition and just challenging enough to leave you wondering why you didn’t score better on each individual hole. It has certainly left us looking forward to our next trip around Desert Island in the hopes of taking fewer strokes. The clubhouse itself is currently being completely renovated and once done will make this one of the premiere courses in the valley!
Hot golf
Course in great condition. Clubhouse is being redone so the amenities were spare. Otherwise great place
Great first time
Greens were in great shape on the taster side. Range balls included. Chill environment and members. Reminds me a little of JW Marriott course. A few really unique holes trying to play off the ‘island’ concept. Not terribly long course with a mix of forgiving and not-so-forgiving holes off the tee.
Outstanding
My wife and I played here and absolutely loved it. Course conditions were perfect. I am a fairly decent golfer but I still was challenged to navigate the very tight fairways. Fairways and greens were so good that you couldn’t tell that another golfer had ever taken a shot before you. We had a great day and my wife shot her best score ever. She said she really enjoyed it because it didn’t have a lot of uphill or downhill lies, just great conditions and awesome mountain views. Liked # 9 especially, tee off to try to hit an island fairway and then next shot over water to green. Will definitely play again next time we’re in Palm Springs.
Wonderful
Under new ownership changed name back to original name lush nice country club layout fun
My Favourite course in the desert.
Favourite course in the desert.. Very nice people. Just a real pleasure to play there
Pace of play
Even with a scramble going on before us my tee time went off as scheduled with a 4 hour and 15 minute round.
Great course
The course is in great shape. I loved that there was access to unlimited range balls close to the first tee. Beautiful course!
