Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - West/North
About
Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa boasts a 27-hole championship course that serves as the centerpiece of the resort. The holes are divided into three nines and played in three different 18-hole combinations. North/West is a challenging but playable golf course. There is a good mix of tough holes and player-friendly elements. The fairways are lined with palm trees but they are wide and offer some room for error. The rolling terrain is dotted with six lakes, which provide water hazards on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The final hole on the North nine is ranked as the hardest hole at the resort. Although it is a seemingly easy 390 yards, the challenge comes from teeing off over a ravine to a narrow fairway guarded by trees and thick rough.

First 3 Holes Closed .
First 3 holes were closed because of previous flooding .This was not mentioned on the Golf Now page.
Buyer Beware
It is a typical resort style course with wide fairways and forgiving greens. The course was hurt by the storms last winter, so they are only playing 14.5 holes. It hurts when the first hole, a nice looking par 5, has been reduced to a meh par 3. You get a wide range of good greens, medium greens, and poor greens. I still enjoyed it, but it is not for serious golfers.
Course no fully open
Booked on Golfnow. Found one tee time that had a decent rate. When we got there found out only 15 holes were open. The 1st hole was shortened from a par 5 to a par 3. Half the holes were in bad shape. Greens weren’t developed and the grass not cut along the fairway. Spent a lot of time looking for balls.
Pace of play was good because it wasn’t busy and the staff was friendly in an embarrassed way.
Price should be reduced by 50% for this kind of condition.
Difficult Situation
Due to the damage from the tropical storm they are only playing 15 holes. We were allowed to go out and replay 3 holes to make the full 18 so that was good. FYI That option is not always available. Should be playing full 18 when 3rd 9 reseeding is complete.
Only 9 holes open
We were very disappointed to find out when we got there that only nine holes were open. There was no mention of this when I booked through GolfNow and you took my money. The pro shop was very apologetic but said there was nothing he could do for us because we paid through GolfNow.
I would have booked elsewhere had I known.
This is the second time I have sent you this review, this time I would like some type of response.
I will be very hesitant in using GolfNow again.
3 Holes Short of 18
The staff was nice, the holes we played were fine, the pace was okay, but GolfNow failed to mention that only 15 holes were playable. We didn't find that out until we checked in and we had prepaid so there was no getting our money back. Two thumbs down on GolfNow.
Get a Super
My Mom lives in Indio (I don’t) & always try to get a round in somewhere when I come to visit. I understand the difference between “in season “ & not (conditions, overseeing, HEAT, etc.) and the (large) variation in greens fees associated with that.
Im willing to “pay up” when warranted, but that comes with a certain level of expectation…The staff I encountered were exceptional! (I have a history in service & can tell the difference.) The course however, was not. Inconsistent greens, fairways AND rough made it difficult to know what to expect next. Until you fix the course, cut the greens fees & try to get more traffic that way. There are just too many other courses in the area where I can get my money’s worth. My breakfast sandwich was delicious though.
Number of holes
Very disappointed to arrive at the course only to find out there were only 15 holes open. This should have been posted on TeeOff site when booking. The price was also high for only 15 holes. I do not blame the course as recent flooding destroyed many holes but there should have been a heads up.
Misleading information and bad conditions
Have played here a number of times over the years.. booked online with zero notifications about the course being 15 holes and one of the 9’s (west) looking as if it hasn’t been mowed or taken care of in weeks. Staff is friendly and what a beautiful location but dang guys.. let us play the same 9 twice if you’re going to offer such a lacking second “9” for 99$ bucks a piece and all the options in the area, this feels like a rip off.
Course needs major attention
No driving range only nets to hit into.
First 9 were playable and enjoyable.
Second 9 is only 6 and first few holes were not maintained at all. Ridiculous high rough just off the “fairway”. Searching for a good ball is annoying and slows play.
Staff a bit overwhelmed
Course layabout and conditions were just above average. Staff seemed overwhelmed by their duties.
Rancho Las Palmas storm ravaged with only 9 holes available for play & practice facility closed
I have played Rancho Las Palmas many times over the years and find it an enjoyable course.
Unfortunately GolfNow did not mention only 9 holes were available for play and gleefully took my money for a 4-some. The personnel at RLP were very helpful, but could not make any refund since I paid GN.
I would like GN to refund all or part of my booking fee as this does not reflect well on them.
I am reluctant to use GN as a booking service.
