Windy Day
Winds have been whipping recently in the Central Valley - no exception at Jack Tone. Even though you use mostly irons on all holes/shots, shaping the ball proves difficult and rewarding if you know how to pull it off. Pin locations were challenging on 7 of the 18 holes. Fairways looked well groomed and greens entrances we tighty. Good round over all.
Windy conditions
Challenging course when the wind picks up. Club selection has to change as well as shot shape. Fun to hit the stinger off of 5, 10 and 18 to give yourself a safe par ! Will play again.
Good to get out again
Glad that courses are opening again. Have not played Jack Tone for a few months since we were all indoors. Holes 1 - 3 greens are currently being aerated right now so 1 or 2 putting is hard to get. After hole 3, the greens open up and are a challenge because of pin placement and because it is Jack Tone ! Nice to see the course being used and new players coming out to learn the game. Tipped the cart person (they are also the desk attendant) a few bucks for taking care of my cart ...I think I made their day !?! Always good to give random acts of kindness especially since they are an essential part of a golfer's playing experience.
Nice small course
Want to play a quick round on good conditions? This course is it. It was a fun, quick round. Lots of short game practice. Thick rough and really good conditions on the greens. If I lived in the area I'd play it all the time for the price.
Great course for the value
I have been playing here more often because of the quality and price. They do a great job on maintaining the course. Charles Birdsong
Nothing to worry about
Friendly environment and great conditions throughout the course. Staff did a great job complying with all the new rules due to covid19 and myself and my group felt welcomed and safe the whole time. Great time and will be playing there again and again.
Course For Using Your Irons
Like to play to different courses (#283 on my list). This is a great course for beginners and players that want to practice their iron play. The course was in very good shape, fairways, greens well maintained. Tee boxes could use a little work but nothing that is a problem. I enjoyed this course because of all the par 3's I was able to use a few different irons.
Remember one thing about public courses, they are not resorts. I got a hot deal for $12, normally $20. This is a great course for practice, not hard. I recommend this course.
Great for beginners
I was happy with the service and not a lot of sand traps. You can get your iron game on because lots of par 3
Great Value
Play here often and always find it enjoyable. The staff is very friendly.
Greens are great for this time of year.
Course is in pretty good condition for the winter time. Greens are in good condition and always challenging on most holes to come away with a 2 putt. Tee boxes could use some work but the courses all over the valley are rough as the grass has been dormant for a few months. Pace of play was great, we finished 18 holes in under 3 hours !!!
Cheap is not always the way to go!
As cheap as this was it was not worth it. Cool course layout, but the conditions were not good. Fairways were not any better than the rough and the tee boxes were no where near level. If you can play for under $20 do it, but if it is $21 stay away.
Great place to play a round
This course is a lot of fun to play if you like your short game. Lots of par 3s, a few 4s and a par 5 on the back side. The grounds are well maintained and there is plenty of practice space for all aspects of your game (putting, driving range, chipping and pitching area along with a sand bunker). Imagine, being able to play a full 18 holes almost in the same time it takes for 9 holes ! I have been coming to Jack tone at least once a week for the past few months and it still creates challenges (especially on the dance floor) every time I come back...it is a must play in the Central Valley !!!
Great way to spend a few hours.
This par 62 course was in pretty good shape when I played it. Greens rolled true and generally the course was in good shape. This is a great course for a beginner to learn or a scratch golfer to work on their iron game. This is the type of golf course we need more of in golf.
