Definetly OLD SCHOOL !
Arrowhead is a private club just recently opened to the public. It id definetly old school in regards to the Bermuda grass on both the fairways and greens. It is a LONG and Narrow course and the lay out is really nothing special. Customer service was OUTSTANDING !
Great overall
Great conditions great place friendly people over i would recommend this course
first but not last
This was the first time playing Arrowhead Country Club, all four of us agree, we will be playing there again.
Hmmm...
I'm confused... did they sell this place? Who bought it? Are they going to run it into the ground or revive it? Good deal, but this place needs a lot of work.
Surprised
I have played this course back in the hay day when it was 100% private and had 400 members (10yrs ago). Arrowhead was a great place to play and I always looked forward to playing it when ever I received an invite. I was pleasantly surprised this trip as to it's current condition. Almost felt like days of old. Fairways were green, Greens were well manicured, and bunkers had good sand. This place was a joy to play. Now, if they can speed up the greens a little, this place would be awesome.
Hidden gem
Now that it's public I hope they keep up the course condition. Read some of the horror stories with member run ins but we were welcomed by the other players on the course. The staff was great and super friendly, including the grounds crew. We will be back for sure and we'll be bringing friends.
Good course.
Good course. Fun to play.
The weather was very hot with water sources being difficult to find on the course.
Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Play this Classic Course
You would be crazy not to play this course now that it is available for public play.
The course is a classic design set in a botanical garden of old trees and great views of the San Bernardino Mountains.
Watch out for the par threes. The shortest from the blue tees is over 190 yards to a well-protected green.
The fairways are in great shape; the ball sits up almost like on a tee.
The best part: the course was almost deserted when we played. And the price on Golf Now was surprisingly low.
I know you will like this course.
Members are not very friendly
I agree with the previous post about the members who still think they own the course. The pro shop does not monitor play. Golfers teed off on number 10 in front of us when we where approaching number 9 green. No golf etiquette. If you are going to cut off players skip a hole and go to number 11. Also since new ownership has taken over the course maintenance has lapsed. Fairways are not being mowed as often and tee boxes are over grown. And for ball marks on the greens are terrible. Maybe money is tight. You have to keep conditions great to get players to come back. Just good pricing is only getting that player once.
Former Members STILL THINK THEY OWN THE COURSE
played Wednesday morning. we were playing number 9 and three players 1 cart 2 walkers teed off on number 10. They did not start on number 1 for some reason. We played behind them for 4 holes and got to number 14 and waited for a while. Then on 15 a par 3 with water. We were waiting for them and they pulled out there ball retrievers and started fishing for golf balls. One of our players who is a monthly member stated to them (really). Then they got defensive and stated we have been members here for 20 years. Then he stated then you should no better. Why did you not start on number 1 like everybody else. Oh there was a five some teeing off. I can assure you that you would have never caught them. All play starts on number 1 no exceptions. Pro shop needs to make sure this is the case.
I was playing in this group that day. Just as stated is exactly what happened. Old equity members need to be more accommodating. I was a guest and play many times per month. Just asking for a little common sense.
A Nice Surprise in San Bernardino
The Arrowhead Country Club course was a very nice surprise in San Bernardino. It is an "old school" course with tree-lined fairways and bent grass greens. The overall condition of the course is 4 stars +. I couldn't quite give it 5 stars because it is lacking a few basic things - like signs that tell you where the next tee is, and/or signs that tell you what tee you are on! There are also a few trees that need to be trimmed so that the back tees are more playable (the 16th hole comes to mind). But the fairways are better than most courses, the bent grass greens are fast and roll true, and the sand traps are very playable. The staff is friendly and the food in the bar/restaurant is good. The buildings need to be remodeled, but the course only needs a few easy cosmetic changes. I will definitely play here again.
Arrowhead C.C. (Private)
For being built in 1944 it is really a nice golf course.
We paid $39 and the course was pretty challenging.
Especially if the wind kicks up.
Very well maintained. Look forward to playing again.
Great course!
We had an afternoon tee time. They paired us with some members who were just delightful! They were so happy to show us their course. They were happy to have us there.
The course is in great condition and was a joy to play! We will definitely go back! Nice greens
Semi private Arrowhead Country Cub
Arrowhead has always been private; I've always wanted to play it (didn't even know where it was; I thought it was near Arrowhead Lake! Lol) I was going to book our usual Shandin Hills "Hot deal" (it's still the best golf deal most anywhere) Arrowhead was listed! Never seen it before as it's a "private course!" Booked it! Its kind of a hidden course as you can't see it as your driving the Main Streets as a matter of fact it was about 8 minutes from my home (street driving; not freeway or Highway and I wasn't aware of it) I was questioning the GPS; as there was no golf course around there... But there it was! Dress code enforced be sure to wear a collard shirt; my shorts were even questioned but overlooked... The course was as you would expect a private course; immaculately manicured (surrounded by a gorgeous community) It's an old course so trees surround the fairway long fairways 5 par 5's, long par 3's. The course looks so welcoming but it's treacherous! Lol Oh, did I love this course.
Excellent condition
First time playing here. Very green throughout the course. Challenging greens make putting fun. Pace of play a problem as a foresome jumped ahead of us and played very slow until we called the clubhouse to have a marshall ask them to pick up the pace or let us pass since they ignored us as we approached the tees. They did pick up the pace and reversed direction on back nine to let us pass. Finished in less than 4 hours. Narrow fairways at times but nice layout. Definitely will play again. Former members stared at us as we entered the clubhouse lounge where no one was available to serve us at that time so did not purchase anything. They may still be in transition to public, but each person contacted was very accommodating.
400 Members? that may have been in the late 50's and 60's....course is not private anymore because of lack of membership to run the place. Now they have monthly and yearly memberships for golf. But do not be fooled this is now a public course for anyone with green fee.
