San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

Excellent for the price
Short course but challenging. Awesome greens. Friendly staff. Average 4 1/2 - 5 he rounds on the weekends but fast during the week.
Fun but difficult course
Signed up as a single. Paired with 2 other guys. Had a great time.
Miserable Experience
Round started off well enough, starter told us we might run into some traffic around the 6th hole. Well the traffic started at the 2nd tee and didn't stop the whole day. Terrible is the only way to describe it. The course is only about 6200 yards long, but it might as well have been 9000 yards for the amount of time it took to play. No marshals anywhere to be seen, but then again, they're making their money, so who cares about pace of play? Would rather hit balls at the range than put up with that again. Won't be back, ever.
Fun course slo play
Fun interesting course. Slow play 5.5 hrs
Labor Day Afternoon - Forever and a day.......
I play this course often since it is local and convenient to our home. Normally it is a good experience, but Labor Day afternoon was something I have never experienced - 2 hours into the round and only on the 6th tee and still waiting - there were 3 foursomes on the box at the same time waiting. We had budgeted 2 1/2 hours for 9 holes and only got to play 5. It was not crowded at check in and there were only 2 more groups signed up to play after us @ 408pm. No Marshalls to be found so could not resolve pace of play. They should start spreading the tee times out more to prevent this.
Excellent staff and course
Was in from Chicago area and had a chance to play twice while in Laguna beach. A totally different golfing experience than Chicago . The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all well groomed. The course is challenging for all skill levels and the settings are amazing. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I'll be back in February and will definitely play here again. Overall four and a half stars out of five

Surprised
I don't play here much simply because typically it's painfully slow and not in that good of shape. The course played 4:30 minutes again for here is fantastic. It was in pretty good shape, greens were fun but very tough to read. The wind kept the short length in check. Overall it was enjoyable and will return again soon.
Golf Day
Great people, good food and coarse was in good shape. Had a fivesum in front of us which sucked and made for slow play.
Nice course
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course paired me with another player and another twosome. It was a very nice round, a lot of fun.
Easy to get to and accomodating course.
I had played this course 5 or more times 13 to 15 years ago. The same with the group of guys I went with. I mentioned I had heard good things about the upgrade/remodel. The course had plenty of challenges and made for a fun round. From sign in toe the 19th hole the staff was very courteous and engaging.
San Juan hills stay out of traps
Overall a very nice course. Sand traps to wet to play a proper shot. And for a hill course, to many holes you couldn't drive on. That really killed our pace of play . Ambassadors need to keep that in mind.
Good Times
Our 43rd Anniversary. Staying at Dana Point. This seemed close enough. Busy day. Arrived 8 minutes late. They held the 2some and the tee box for us. Pace was great. Course rolls through the hills. Be prepared to use an extra club or 2. Greens were in great shape. Rolling about an 8 on the meter. Downhill putts were fast. Paired with a great couple. Had a great time. Tee off at 12:40. Finished at 5:05 pm.
Great golf at SJH
The course is a great condition
It was a perfect day for golf
Great course great price!
Definitely one of my favorite OC courses! Staff is always friendly and the course is in good shape!
Great time...
Got out on time and finished in 4.5 hours
Nice Track
My son and i played San Juan Hills for the first time and found the course to be very enjoyable. The course had a lot of up and down hills shots that made clubing challenging. Greens were good and traps well maintained. We also had breakfast before our round and the food and service was very good. Pace of play was fine if you were a foursome. We got paired with a couple of ladies and had a very enjoyable round. we will be back. The range used mats but did have a chipping area.
Fun Layout, BEAUTIFUL LAYOUT, FAST GREENS.....CLUBHOUSE IS AMAZING....CONSIDER IT MY HOME
#2, HIT AN EXTRA CLUB AND HALF IN. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR PIN PLACEMENTS, GET YOUR PRACTICE IN PRIOR TO YOUR ROUND ON THE PUTTING GREEN. ASK THE STARTER WHAT THEYRE RUNNING AT, COULD MAKE FOR A LOW ROUND AND ALL OF US GOLFERS KNOW THE FLIP SIDE OF THAT COIN SO......JUST GET A LIL PUTTING PRACTICE IN. AND PLEASE FIX ALL BALL MARKS AND FILL THEM DIVOTS WITH SAND- GOOD KARMA. OTHER THAN THAT, I LOVE SAN JUAN, CONSIDER IT MY HOME, AND I HAVE NEVER GOT BORED PLAYING THIS TRACK.
GO LOW AND HAVE FUN!!!

San Juan Hills
This course is great. I would recommend this course. It's nice that we are able to find great prices on this course for the quality especially in South County. Thanks.
"yet another amazing round"
As an avid golfer, I am so lucky to able to play at SANJUAN HILLS GOLF CLUB, considering how close I live in this golf course. This will be my 3rd time playing here and it gets better every time I tee off. This time I played on a Thursday afternoon around 4:30pm, booking was easy the staff was amazing and it was a very excellent process for me and couple of my friends. Since I have played here before I already knew what to expect from this challenging course, the fairways were in good condition considering the drought in CALI weather. The greens were very firm and fast, which gives it a very challenging read. For the average golfer such as me, I always look for good deals especially playing in the afternoon, and this course was definitely worth the buck and very reasonable for the type of course it is. For long hitters, the Par 5's are amazing wide open and long, the layout is pretty incredible with water and slopes in play. For 1st time players at this course I warn you, Do NOT get in the bunkers, because the bunkers are pretty deep and surrounds almost every hole. On a good day such as Thursday afternoon the pace was incredibly good, we managed to tee off on the 18th with still some sunlight. Overall, this course is a GEM, I encourage locals and non locals to come play this course and have an amazing experience such I as do every time I play here.
