San Juan Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Golf Course is situated midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its location is conveniently close to Legoland, Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, and miles of sandy beaches. The championship golf course underwent a major renovation of its fairways and greens, making them some of the best in south Orange County. The layout consists of a diverse array of holes that range in length from short to long and some are hilly while others are flatter. Being a public golf course and having a versatile layout, San Juan G.C. is a popular place for tournaments and events. At either end of the course there are practice facilities as well. On the west side you'll find a putting green and sand bunker as well as a chipping area, and on the other end you'll find a grass driving range.

PACE OF PLAY
THIS IS THE WORST COURSE IN O.C. IT WOULD TAKE 6 HOURS TO PLAY A FULL ROUND. THEY STACK GROUP AFTER GROUP AND THERE IS ALWAYS A 20 MIN WAIT ON EVERY TEE BOX.
I'D RATHER PAY MORE FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE ELSEWHERE.
Reasonably priced golf in Orange County
I play this course frequently when I'm in the OC. I can get decent tee times at a reasonable rate. The fairways seem to have suffered a bit during the past year. Some rough patches that don't seem to be healing . The greens are very tricky and are fast and very good condition. Bunkers are strategically located and are very playable. Nice variety of holes makes for a good challenge for most golfers.
San Juan Hills - Great; Look no further..........
The course is excellent, well maintained and an enjoyable challenge. Those attributes are complemented by a very friendly staff, an impeccable clubhouse, plus excellent food and beverage. For a great round of golf round at incredible value in a wonderful spot, San Juan Hills cannot be beaten -- Look no further.
Yearly Father/Son Tournament
This was our 10th Annual and 2nd year at San Juan Hills. Mike, Christian and staff did an amazing job once again. The were well prepared and kept things moving even though two 50+ player tourneys were starting at 8am. Highly recommend the course, great job!
Course and Staff are Awsome
The starter, Ray is always very friendly and is on top of his game.
The food in the club house is as good as any great restaurant. It has awesome Sports bar atmosphere !The course is always getting better and is very challenging for any type of golfer.
I highly recommend playing here.
Fast Greens and Good Vibes
First time playing San Juan. I will definitely be back. Pro shop and Clubhouse were awesome. The golf staff was very accommodating and the i got picked up in the parking lot with a cart which was a nice touch for a public course. Greens were rolling great. Got paired up with another twosome and we all had a blast. The pace was somewhat slow but saw the drink girl enough times to make it worth while. Ate at the 19th sports bar and grill and watched The thursday night football game. Great Time!
Great Greens
Best greens in OC friendly staff and reasonable prices.
I would recommend this course to my friends.
Mr. Cool
Over all the value for the dollars is great. The pace of play that depend on the day of the weeks. Course layouts & greens some what challenging or easy some of the times. There are days I had 7 consecutive pars in the back 9. But, be careful when the wind pick up during windy season. It is a nice course which is not too far away from the ocean in the summer time.
Pro Shop Staff
The staff in the pro shop was the most entertaining and friendliest that I have encountered in a very long time. Ray was so good at checking people in and having a good time and entertaining everyone at the same time with his wit and joking attitude. Just to start your round with some one that is that friendly makes everything better!! The course is in great shape especially the greens. Definitely will be back!!
Waiting game.
7 carts waiting at the 16th. Groups skipping holes and jumping ahead without asking. No Marshall presence. A decent course that's unbearable to play due to the players.
staff
The front office staffs have been bad . The pave of play verry slow I have been play here several times. I will not play here again.

Great course, Great time
I met up with some friends in Orange County and we decided to play San Juan Hills. It was all of our first time playing there and it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly, the greens were really good and after our round we really enjoyed hanging out on the patio. The restaurant is one of the nicest i have ever seen at a golf course, excellent food and wine selection and overall cool vibe. We all look forward to going back.
EW
They let people walk and that killed it for me and everyone else backed up behind these old dudes getting their exercise at everyone else's expense. It was brutal.. beyond brutal. We skipped the last several holes at the end as it was getting dark and found this out because there they were at the 18th hole.. teeing off, and shuffling down the fairway, and if that's not bad enough it's a hilly course. Please don't let anyone walk this course. Also, one of the marshals gave me trouble for kicking my ball off the cart path back onto the fairway. Sorry, but I'm not going to play my ball off of asphalt and I'm not going to waste time trying to take a drop like I'm on the pga tour. I don't need to hear smart aleck remarks from course staff. Then, he drove away fast before I could say anything back to him. I won't be going back to this course.. too bad, because the price is right and the course isn't bad.
Hello Ethan, I apologize for your experience and would like to make it up to you. We have made progress in improving pace of play but appears we did not deliver on the day you played. OVER PLAYED
THIS COURSE IS NICE BUT ITS OVER PLAYED AND ALWAYS BACKED UP. PART OF THE PROBLEM IS THE COURSE ALLOWS PEOPLE TO WALK AND LETS JUST SAY SOME COULD NOT KEEP UP.
San Juan Hills
This course is by far the best value play in south Orange County. The course is fun, playable and offers a bit of a challenge, especially when the greens are rolling fast (which they almost always are). The greens are some of the best around and their quality is a big reason why me and my regular group play there (we play on average once a week).
The staff is excellent and the pro shop will always accommodate you. I've shown up countless times as a single or twosome with no tee time on a busy day and still got in 18 holes with a little help from the pro shop/starter.
The clubhouse has been completely re-done over the past several years and is a great spot to grab a brew and some food after a round.
Great time/round as always here at SAN JUAN HILLS
The four of us had a wonderful well paced round of golf as always. very accommodating to the group with great club house staff, extremely pleasant cart drinks/eats staff on course, and marshall was keeping fairways in order-from tee box to greens
First Time at SJH - will be back.
My wife and I played at San Juan Hills for first time on a Sunday afternoon. Course and entire experience were a pleasant surprise. Was able to secure a discounted tee time and definitely worth the money. Beautiful layout and course was in good shape. Nice to play a public course that does a decent job managing the fringes and traps and greens were sufficiently fast to make for a good challenge. Whole vibe of the management and service team were outstanding. We will be back.
Good round of golf
For the money a pay trough golf now absolute bargain
Nice golf course in good shape
back 9 1st light of day
We only had a limited time to squeeze in golf (and eat breakfast) so we headed out to the back 9 first thing in the morning. It was perfect timing....one two-some got out before us so the pace moved quickly.
Ray in the proshop is always fun to talk to and helpful. Fun course to play!!
Great Time, Awesome Course
This course is a lot of fun, great layout and the greens are the best in the area. We rented a speaker from the clubhouse and listened to music as we played, made the round even more enjoyable. After our round we had a couple of drinks and watched the Thursday night game in the new clubhouse which is really, really nice. Look forward to going back soon
