San Juan Hills Golf Club

The greens were punched 10 days prior but had a great time in spite of this. This course is the best value in OC and is only getting better with the coming inprovements. I hope they are able to keep their rates reasonable.

San Juan is a fantastic course to play for any range of golfer. The layout rewards accurate play along with forgiving outer edges for shots that err a little off course. The layout is interesting and greens are set usually above eyeline so approach to the flags can be tricky but with lots of green to work with not unapproachable. Course is mid length making Birdie and Par opportunities semi regular if your accurate. Finally the staff are extremely welcoming warm and professional. This has been one of my most enjoyable rounds i have played. Thank you San Juan Hills Golf Club.

I was very excited to play this course again, its been a few years. Unfortunately when I arrived I was informed that the front 9 were closed and wad asked if I mindrd playing the back nine again. I do understand things like this happen but it would have been nice to have been informed atvthe tome of booking about the closure, I woyld hace rather played another course. As for the condition of the greens I think the back 9 were aerated the week before our ball had a lot of hop. When we finished the back 9 and went to the clubhouse for a drink they were blowing sand with 2 blowers on the 18th which sits directly in front of the clubhouse, so you had to walk through a dust storm. Overall disappointed!!

I've played this course once before so I knew what to expect for the course. The staff is completely accommodating and very friendly! They were doing some work on the course so a couple of holes had temporary greens, but overall, it was in good shape. It's challenging but fun! My friends and I will be back for sure!

The last few times that I have played this course it was way over booked. Our tee time was 12:16 and actual tee off time was 12:22.. the first 9 holes took 2:45 minutes and we finished the round right before 6pm.

Overall fun course, with just the right the right amount of challenge for me. Friendly staff and great grill & bar. I will definitely go back.

This track is average in layout challenge and in fairway and tee box conditions. But where it really shines is the greens. The greens are in great shape. They roll true and are consistant between holes. For 35 bucks riding you cant beat it in orange county.

If you don't tee off by 9am your looking at. 6 hour round. I'm not joking. You've been forewarned.

This is a nice course with a nice staff but the pace of play is pretty much always slow. I figure 5 hours for a round there. If its quicker than that. Your lucky. Played 3/18/17 2 hours 50 minutes for eight holes. Average wait at the tee box was 20 minutes. Rediculous. Needles to say I did not play the back nine

I enjoyed playing San Juan; however, the pace of play on the front was slow and had to wait on almost every tee. The greens and fairways are in good shape.

Hills is the operative word. This course has lots of up and down shots.

I enjoy the layout of the course, and the greens are consistently in good condition. If it wasn't for how rude and pushy the staff is, I would play here far more often. I might even put up with them if I could play a round for around $20. Sadly, this is not the case.

On my last round our group was 20+ minutes ahead of schedule after the 5th hole, according to the GPS in the cart. Yet, somehow, the starter was hounding us about our pace and saying we were behind and needed to catch up. Reality is that we had started 15 minutes after the group in front of us, so naturally there was a gap. We caught up anyway within 2 holes and then ended up waiting at every tee box after that.

This is only one most recent example of receiving terrible customer service at San Juan Hills. This course requires a serious staff culture adjustment if they want people to keep coming back. Multiple staff members are rude, pretentious, and unwelcoming.

Staff allowed my buddy and I to go out as a twosome early in the morning. A foursome was in front of us. The pace of play was excellent. We finished our round in 4hrs.

Greens are in great shape and fast above the hole got a lot of play our day so somewhat slow

One of the worst rounds I can remember. The front nine took 3 hours and 15 minutes. Ended up quitting on the 14th hole as round was hitting 5 hour mark and it was obvious that getting in 18 would be impossible. Tee time start was 12:30 and dark is now at 6:30. If there was enough day light this would have easily hit close to 7 hour mark. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!! WAITED ON EVERY SHOT (14 minutes on one shot). The greens were starting to show major signs of wear and tear. On some holes you could see a 1" ring around the outer cup were people had not stepped.

Nice variety of shots required from the tee...some wide oped drives, some narrow, uphill holes, downhills, lots of different direction. Keep it below the hole on hilly holes, attack the flatter holes. Looks like a nice clubhouse patio and sports bar though I didn't take any time there. Would definitely play here again. Pretty good value as well.

Good course, fairways need a bit of work but getting better. Greens are good and getting better. Rebuilding bunkers!! Could space times to ease pace of play.
