Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course

Sunnyvale is a decent course. I don't think the fairways had been mowed in 4 or 5 days when I played yesterday. The grass in the fairways was an inch tall in some areas and had been growing long enough that it was actually flowering... Despite that, the course was in better shape than I have seen it in the past. The bunkers were actually playable which has not been my experience in the past (normally they are hard panned unplayable rocks). Pace of play was standard for any municipal course in the Bay Area, guaranteed 5.5 hours with not a single ranger in sight to encourage standard pace of play. But, this is what muni golf has become in the Bay Area; pump as many tee times on the sheet as you can with no regard for pace of play or course conditions.

Nice staff, good price. Pace of play ok. Too many gopher holes and just one restroom on the course? Big negative is no driving range. It works for me as it is convenient

All was good EXCEPT they charged us $18 US per person for a very basic power cart.

Short course even from tips. Fairways nice and kept, greens true. Had to show various forms of registration to prove I booked a tee time, never had to do this before and I've been on GolfNow for years. The cart was $22 extra on top of fees.

This course is the first one of all my golfnow bookings (20+) that asked for “course reservation number” in the email instead of taking “golfnow” reservation numbers for the prepaid tee time.

Why couldn’t they just take the numbers from golfnow? It really is inconvenient when it is already prepaid a week ago. It seemed to me they are trying to sell the same tee time for more profits.

I would never want to use golfnow again to reserve this course.
