Fun course
This course is a lot of fun. It's not long, but with all the bunkers it's still a challenge. I would give 5 stars but the bunkers are not soft, the club bounces instead of getting under the ball. A couple of the greens need work, but overall not too bad.
Very playable course
Friendly staff and fellow golfers and while only 12 holes was very enjoyable
Course needs more maintenance but I understand that they are coming out of a very hot summer
This course has everything I like!!
This course has everything I like: friendly staff, a driving range with metal targets, comfy electric carts, fountains, gorgeous scenery, neighbours with horses and being right beside Joshua Tree National Park, the temperature was moderate compared to Cathedral City’s 38 degrees. Right now, only holes 1-6 are open so we played them three times. This brought us back to the club house multiple times…delicious sandwiches and drinks!
12 holes total
Interesting layout with only 12 holes. To get 18 you play the first 6 after number 12. They were over seading so we had to play 7-12 three times. Which was interesting for sure.
I really enjoy the course as it’s up in elevation from the low desert which means it will be cooler in temperature than the low desert courses.
Food is always good there and I think this is a fun course that is a great value.
So Disappointed
Was expecting better conditions based on reviews - especially prime time Saturday. Greens were bumpy, spongy and dead patches were present on most. Fairways had not been cut for some time, but the few that were recently cut were done poorly as there were strips of long grass down the length where the mower missed! The tee boxes, were terrible! most had not been cut in what seems like weeks, as it was like teeing off in 3" rough. It was long enough on some that it actually grabbed the club head - that with using a fairly high tee. Practice range was mat only, and no spots to place a tee. Balls there were mostly dead and black - although there were a few new mixed in. Not sure if i would return, unless the upkeep improved. If not for the deal i found on Groupon - would have been upset to pay full rate for those conditions.
FUN
Great course with friendly staff. Rent a scooter for some extra fun golfing…..and enjoy the critters that greet you.
Hawks landing outstanding!
Always a fun and challenging course. The staff is consistently friendly and efficient. Hole 7 is under construction but other than that it was an enjoyable morning of golf.
Some good some bad
I play this course for the value and it’s one of the first courses I played when I picked up golf. The staff is always pretty friendly and the facilities are above average. I hear the food is good as well though I’ve never eaten there. I teed off at 7 with my partner and we were the first ones out. No trouble all day with pace even with having to replay either holes 1-6 or 7-12 (it’s a 12 hole course). My only real complaint is the condition of some holes but in particular the green on 7. That green has been in rough shape for a while and when we went it was blocked off with signs saying “wedding parking”. Hopefully they keep it blocked off and fix the green. Other than that it’s a good course especially if you want a cheaper round of golf.
Very patchy greens and fairways
Probably hasn't awoken from the cold yet. But because there were few golfers out , pace was perfect. We had fun.
Weather
We had to quit after eight holes as the weather was so bad and cold with rain. The staff were exceptionally nice. It is 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Indio so if you had out there be prepared it was cold and windy when we were there and rainy.
Fun for a warmup
Cute little course but we played behind 4 absolute beginners who took forever so had to skip some holes to actually play..
