$160 After Tax is Criminal
I have played here probably 2 dozen times and love the golf course. That being said they should be ashamed of themselves currently. Your bathrooms are porta potty's. You have no restaurant. Your GPS wasn't even set to the right pin placements making it useless. Your charging premium price for a middle of the road experience. Shame on you for price gauging just because you can.
Greedy course
We paid $79 at the end of December and the price literally doubled on Jan 1……and with All of the ongoing construction, we will be going to a different golf course due to the hefty price tag.
Rude and demeaning staff
From the kid taking out our golf clubs and leaving the trunk open, to the cart that was absolutely filthy, including left over food, and a non-functioning GPS, to the staff loading our ball bags, letting one clang and drop in his view and driving away, this course is excellent and in great condition, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least. The after round conversation with the "manager" or one of the two clueless 20-year olds behind the counter took a turn for the worse, before a wise decision was made to move on and let calmer heads prevail. Literally, day and night between the course itself and a rude, demeaning staff. Signage is terrible, as evident by at least 2 foursomes, including ours, who got sidetracked at least once during the round. Lot of wrinkles to iron out, starting with a LOT of staff training if this is going to be a good course to play - note to management you have to hire from outside the area, to get good staff.
Great course!!!
Calusa Golf Course is a great place to play. The course is wide open, very well maintained, with excellent greens and fairways. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Definitely a course worth coming back to.
Nice new addition to my rotation!
Discovered this on my yearly trip to Bradenton and was not disappointed.
Yes there is a bit of distraction with construction around also making it a bit more difficult to navigate your way from a green to the next tee box, but hey, most people should be able to figure it out.
No trees to lose your ball in but the course has teeth with large undulating greens and lots of water hazards to keep you thinking.
Calusa Country club = “add to cart”!!
First Time Was A Charm
I played “Calusa Lakes Golf Course” last week and someone said if you like this course you should try Calusa Country Club. Well I read the Golfnow reviews on CCC and decided to give it a try. All the reviews were spot on…tremendous course with lots of construction all around you during your round but honestly it wasn’t that bad or distracting. I’m a 9 handicap and played the no 3 tees which played 6k yards which was perfect for my ability. Temporary clubhouse, temp bathroom, portable potties on the course, as a guy these temp issues were fine, for a woman probably not so good, .there was a bev cart seen regularly and beers were 5 bucks for domestic and 6 for others…not too bad. I drove from Venice and it was a long trip but well worth it! Will definitely be back for sure (before it turns private)🤞
Nice new course
Course has interesting holes. Not a boring layout! Conditions are really good for a young course. There is nothing built up around the course yet, so on windy days, it is very windy and dusty. There are no amenities except a teailer for a clubhouse. There is a food truck at the turn, beverage cart, and they give you bottled water. My only wish is they had a set of tees closer to 5000 yds. The tees go from 4700 to 5300 yds. Nothing in-between. How about making a combo tee and getting it rated?
Course with the fastest greens
A lot of positives. The majority of the course is quite forgiving. Wide and open. The fairways are in great condition. The greens too but it takes a lot to slow down here. You will get adjusted when you are on the back nine.
It is a new course. And located in a new construction are. So you see houses being built, some roads (even for the golf carts) not being finished etc. It does not impact the overall appreciation of scheelt round of golf.
One thing that is apparent and a pity. During the last couple of months you see a growing number of ball marks and divots not being repaired. This is such a shame and deteriorate the perfect shape of fairways an green rapidly. I hope that players are going to behave better…..
Good course
Can’t wait for the construction to be done. Course offers some tough holes. One of the best courses I have played in the area. Will be coming back. The greens are in good shape.
New community golf in a competitive neighborhood
Master-planned communities have tended to give short-shrift to golf course architects, forcing them into tortured routings with little sense of flow. Much as I’d like to say otherwise, Calusa is not far out of that mold, although Gordon Lewis’ execution of individual holes is good, with plenty of width off the tee and some interesting green shapes that keep things interesting. As is increasingly the case, the course, though brand-new when I played it, was in very fine shape. Time will tell how well it stacks up to neighboring communities and their courses.
Terrible Course and Management – No Rebuttal Necessary
This course is a complete mess. There’s no proper signage anywhere, so you’re constantly guessing where to go, and golf carts get stuck because of poor layout. On top of that, the golf pro came out just to tell us we were doing everything wrong—this was our first time playing here.
To make it worse, every hole on the GPS in the cart showed an advertisement, forcing you to click “go back to golf.” If I wanted to play with a computer, I’d sit at my desk.
No rebuttal necessary. The experience speaks for itself.
