Soggy day, play away
TC-ATL is a good track, with multiple tees for the variety of golfer. Not a good place for anyone who sprays the ball. You need to have some control of your game.
Course is very wet due to extreme rains, but greens are in good shape. They get fast as they dry out. Course is hilly, so CPO made the day feel long, but we finished our round in 3:45. Pace was good. Starters were good natured, and encouraging. Pro staff was courteous and funny. F/B good as always.
Trophy Club of Atlana
Overall experience was good. Course is in condition you would expect for this time of the year. Greens and greens complexes (bunkers, chipping areas, etc.) very good. Only complaint was pace of play. Beautiful day which had the course crowded. Tee time was 12:30 and made the turn at 3:10 so I couldn't finish my round. Understand pace of play has been an issue at this club.
Poor Management of Tee Times
I played this course with my buddy last Friday, Novemeber 24th. I expected it to be busy and a little bit longer of a round, but did not expect to only play 11 holes with 3 hours and 30 minutes of daylight. However, I knew we were doomed when 15 minutes before our tee time the cart guy told us that we couldnt take a cart yet because he didnt know if they had enough and there was two groups in front of us. We finally get our cart and roll up to the marshall at 2:13 (our tee time) there was one group on the tee box and one in front of us. We didnt end up teeing off until 2:30ish. From there on we were waiting on the tee box for 15-20 minutes on each hole. It was brutal. We ended up finishing the front nine in 3 hours and about 10 minutes. And getting to barely finish one more hole before the sun went down. This seems to be a classic example of a course trying to get as much people onto the course as possible to take peoples money. I would avoid this course on the weekend.
Good course.
Fun course. Good for both single digit and average golfers.
Nice round. Great experience
Once again I enjoyed the course. The tee boxes were a bit bare but the rest of the course was good. Bring your A game.
Awesome despite the weather.
Cart path only but still a great time. I enjoy the challenge of this course.
Testy but Fun
It was my first time here with my service dog, and we were lucky enough to hook up with a member who was my age. I was like being with a guide and we had a blast. The course is a little tough for an old guy, but I loved the layout. Would advise anybody to give it a try!!!
Great course
The course is in great shape. I always enjoy playing here. The challenge is always present and the staff is always friendly!
Play elsewhere
Greens are in good shape, tee boxes have seen their better day. Front desk staff was not friendly at all. Four foursome waiting in from of us to tee off at hole number one, we tees off 40 min behind schedule. Ran into a few rangers on the course and they did nothing to speed play. Cart girl and restaurant staff were friendly.
I have ran into a few issues at this course in the past, too many other good courses around to play rather than give this course any more of my money.
Mixed Bag
Strange Day. I purchased an 11:36am tee time from Golf Now, but when I got to the course, they had moved me to 11:48am with three ladies. Who made that call? I like women, but when I play golf, I like to be with the guys. I talked to the marshal and he didn't want to change it, but I prevailed and I hooked up with two other gentlemen. Course is in nice shape; greens are soft and smooth. They are doing some maintenance on the cart paths. Pace of play was really slow. Looked like they had a group tourney going on, plus the ladies were a short hitters and played slower. 5 hour round!
Course Review
I understand that courses have to arriate the greens. However, I think they should let you know that when reservations are made. To tell you when you show up (after driving a significant distance!!) is WRONG. I took a guest and it was his first time playing the course. The front desk was very rude when explaining that we might have to play the back nine twice if they weren't through working on the front nine.
Part of thr Rota
The Trophy Club of Atlanta has become part of my weekly group's rotation of courses as we all enjoy the layout, pace of play, and conditions. With their "Players Club" program, the greens fees are discounted and range balls are free which are added benefits. We generally play early in the morning so pace of play is not an issue. The greens were fantastic - cut, smooth, and true. Ball marks are repaired which helps keep them that way. There is a nice mix or direction, length, and elevation changes so no two holes play the same. It's a 20 mile drive for me and worth it every time!
Diapoointed
In the middle 90's I belonged to this course then named Champions of Atlanta, and played almost daily until I moved away a few years later. Now back for a visit after years away, I was sad to see the neglect of today. No sand but just Georgia clay in most sand hazards, most rough needed cutting, numerous bald spots. Perhaps I remember the place grander than it really was, but at least better than this.
Decent, not exciting
Trophy Club is close to my home, and my company golf league also plays there, so I play this course quite a bit. I like the course, but I've never really loved it, largely because there are several much better courses in the area (Woodmont, St. Marlo, and Echelon come to mind) for similar rates. Trophy Club is more on par with Sugar Hill or Lanier, but charges like the better ones I mentioned. Price notwithstanding, TC is a fair test, and does offer some very scenic views on several holes. A number of the driving holes will make you think about your club choice, as houses/back yards line both sides of a few fairways. A tee box or two could have used a little love (high grass and weeds), but those were the exception, not the rule. The starter and ranger were both very friendly, as was the clubhouse staff. Even the young ladies in the grill room were cheerful and chatty. All in all, not the most exciting round of golf to be had in the area, but still a good one.
Not bad for the money
So the course was in good shape. Greens were a bit beaten up... thinking lack of player attention and course mgmt. The pace of play was good to start, but we were playing twilight and had several instances where we had what seems like neighborhood teenagers come in between groups with their own golf carts and play holes, which eventually slowed the pace of play. We also had some neighborhood couple come through walking their dogs. Now I have dogs as well, and walk them every day, but really don't think I'd risk them being on a golf course where they can get hit by a ball and interrupt play. I figure that the course was only for those playing to play. I mentioned this to the clubhouse manager and told them that we didn't see any marshall at all on the course, and they said they would look into it but the guy rolled his eyes like this was an unimportant issue.
In great shape
Haven't play this course in some time but it was a treat. Greens are in great shape so is the rest of the course.
