18th Hole Photo submitted by baller1308 on 08/31/2015
Fun golf course that will let you score.
The course is short from the blue tees but it was fun to use some 3 woods off the tee box for a change. The greens were in very good condition and fast. Many of of the tee boxes were in very poor condition but the rest of the course was fine. For the money the value was excellent.
BEST THING EVER
I am a +.07 handicap and I thought this course was not easy. Great layout and greens are very fast. Little to no divots on the green. Love playing. One of the best courses I've played. Very Tour.
starters hassle
you might think teeing off around 4PM on a Sunday afternoon would be a relaxing time to be on the course. Sadly, not true of the Trophy Club. After being assured by the guy in the clubhouse that the course was fairly open, and that I could head over to the tee box, the starter offered me this choice: you can drive your cart up the fairway, drop a ball, and join the threesome in front of you, or just wait for them to get out of range and hit. Since I was only playing 9, I chose to wait. After one hole the gruesome reality came to pass - 15 minutes after I teed off, the group ahead was still waiting on the next tee. This pace continued up to the 4th tee, when the group in front waited for the group ahead to clear the green - a 310 yard uphill shot. So after a long wait on that hole, I had played four holes in an hour and 10 minutes. Then the coup de grace - the starter told me on the 6th green (which by that time I was 1:30 into the round, having just made a birdie) that I needed to join the group ahead of me. My mention that there were only 3 holes left to play drew no sympathy - "will save 10 minutes" he barked. At that point, I had enough, and drove back to the clubhouse. Along the way, I passed the foursome on the 7th green which was holding up the course - no sign of them speeding up - just plumb bobbing putts.
I did go back into the clubhouse to complain, and the guy at the desk agreed that he should have just left me alone. No offer to refund me the $30 however.
I will never go back to that course, and would recommend that it be skipped. There are far greener pastures, and marshals who know the game, and when to keep their mouths zipped.
Friday afternoon play
Played course numerous times. Pace of play was slow. Marshals need to be more engaged with pace of plY. Course and greens in great shape.
Poorly managed pace of play. Not coming back. Staff is rude and indifferent.
We had an 11:16 AM tee time. We were 15 minutes late going off. We finished the first hole and there were two groups on the second tee. We waited on every tee from that point for at least 5 to 7 minutes. We saw rangers with the title of "Ambassador" a number of times. They were doing absolutely nothing to speed up play. This is a public course with a lot of bad players who are out for beers and have no idea what golf is all about. Not raking bunkers, not playing ready golf, disobeying signs. The sad fact is that the 'ambassadors', who appear to be a bunch of retired guys getting free golf out of their job, could care less. Finally after twelve holes we were four hours and 5 minutes into our round and we went in. A visit to the pro shop elicited a response of shrugged shoulders, 'we do the best we can' and no offer for any kind of rain check, free beverage or coupon towards future golf. Just basically, we could care less. Indifferent. The girl behind the counter at the turn goofed up our order and then got super snippy when we politely told her, no we did not order four Blue Moons and four Ultras, just one each. This is the second time playing this course in the past 6 months and the only way I am coming back is if someone else is paying for it. Pathetic excuse for a golf experience.
What happened?
This course used to be in such great shape. I had out of town guests from NY visit and they rented clubs, which were a bargain, and good top shelf clubs.. The fairways are gone, the greens some aerated some just not worth putting a ball on. I played here 3 months ago and it looked fine. This was a Jekyll and Hyde. Value $15 for $18, just a shame, great layout could be a spectacular course but it's at the bottom of my list now. As for my friends I had to apologize for bring them out there.

Go somewhere else. Not worth it.
Greens need work
There greens on this course have never been good and when we played, the putts bumped and rolled terribly. The management needs to roll these greens after punching them so you can get a true roll.
Never Playing Here Again.......
Between tee boxes with no grass, aerated greens, and maintenance crew following us during 60% of our round.....I'll never go back. I completely understand that I'm playing a public golf course, but this was ridiculous. I hit close to 12 approach shots with a larger fairway blower in my back swing. The tee boxes either had no grass at all or grass that looked like it had not been cut in 2 weeks. And lastly, nothing like getting to the first green and finding out that the course had just aerated. I get that courses must aerate but you would think that would be messaged by GolfNow, the pro shop, or the starter. And the price of the round did not reflect the course conditions. Literally, the very last time I play this golf course. Awful.
Trophy Club
Very poor course management. 5.5 hours to play 18 holes there was extremely excessive. 3 groups waiting to tee off on the second tee box if that's any indicator of how poorly the pla rate was managed.
short and dry
Course was very dry. Could use a hammer on some of the tee boxes in order to get the tee in the ground. Many holes were very short. Greens need attention and the course needs a Marshall to speed up play. I played here about 5 or 6 yrs ago and it seemed better. Maybe I will play it again in about 5 yrs. I was not impressed.
Good round
Course is in real good condition right now. Greens are putting true, 10.5 on the stimp. Played Blue tees which were up and made the course feel short. Fairways were in good condition w/ a few dry spots on hills. 3-some played in just under 4 hrs. Good time to play TOA right now.
Great deals at a nice course
I've played Trophy Club of Atlanta several times and always leave there thinking I should play it more often. It's a great course for the money. Layout is interesting and can be challenging from the Gold tees. Greens and fairways are I nice shape but the tee boxes need work.
Nice layout poor maintenance
Played out there with some buddies and noticed that the tee boxes are extremely beat up. Also the greens were in decent shape. But he major problem was how bad the tee boxes were since it was tough to get proper footing on any box and be comfortable over the ball.
Poor Condition!
This course used to have one of the best greens in GA, now the greens are not very good , fairways are not good and i think this course should not cost more than $40 to play here, you can find better courses in GA for this amount of money.
TC of Atlanta- May 2016
The course is long from the tips but fairly short from the other tees. It is narrow and challenging however. The greens are so-so, it looks like they had some issues earlier in the year and they were slow and in need of attention. The tee boxes were atrocious - very hacked up with nary a level lie to be found. One had been recently re-sodded, but the tee markers had not been moved in days, so there was a big brown spot where they were in all the green sod. It is a pretty course and could be outstanding, but it is suffering from a lack of maintenance and general care.
This course needs work
The course has a great layout but the greens had just been top dressed. A lot of the tee boxes weren't level and missing a lot of grass. The greens aren't in great shape at this point. The round wasn't worth the money we paid today!
First to Worst
A year ago, or so, I would've rated Trophy Clubs greens the best of any public course in the Atlanta area. Yesterday, they were among the worst of the greens I have played anywhere. It was disappointing to see how far they have let this course slide. Tee boxes are all mud, not hardly a blade of grass on any of them. It's a real shame. This used to be a great course.
This course needs a lot of work
Played this course on 4/20 and it was not in good condition at all! For the price, there are better options. The greens were in bad shape, not consistent at all. Most tee boxes I was teeing off from were just dirt, no grass. Perhaps the spring and all the trees have hindered the ability to get the course in decent shape. There are so many other courses in the area for the same or less price where the spring weather has actually made them great. Not sure why this course is so far behind those courses.
The fairways are gone where did they go? ha
