Stay Away
I waited 60 days to play Trophy again, since it was in bad shape in May. While the tee boxes were better, the rough is just ridiculous. Hey guys....CUT THE FREAKIN' GRASS. We lost balls all day long that were just off the fairway. Pretty sure they're not prepping for a PGA event, so no excuses. I have to assume they're having cash flow problems, since the pace was horrendous and no rangers in site. We had a 11:12a tee time....took no break at the turn and finished playing at 4:55p. AWFUL.
I am crossing this one off my list indefinitely.
Moderately challenging course
Course was in great shape. Definitely a finesse course as shot placement is key on a couple of holes, especially when approaching the green. Greens ran different from each hole; sometimes real fast and other times somewhat slower.
Review Trophy Club ATL
Only major critiques were the rough and the sand. Not sure what the plan is regarding the rough but for amateur golfers who will average 30% at times in fairways hit, balls disappeared in the very thick rough, much time spent searching for the balls and some lost as a result. Way to high and thick for the amateur. The sand was dry and thin, and thus even more challenging for the average golfer.
Worst Round of golf
Played nine holes in 3 hours 10 minutes. Cart died and the staff was not helpful. Won't be back
Rude / inadequate staff
Very disappointing!! The staff was very unfriendly, and the pace of play was ridiculous. Although there were several "Ambassadors" riding around, they did nothing to maintain pace of play. The overall condition of the course was reasonable, greens were in average condition for this time if year. Fairways are fairly tight, greens are a good size and interesting, but not too tricky. Because of my experience with the staff, I would not recommend the course, or play it again.
Terrible condition
The grass was too high with large clumps of mowed grass randomly piled at various locations. Greens airated too deep made all greens seem like they had speed bumps built in.
Rough is rough, but greens recently aerated.
I'm not sure if people who have said that the grass hasn't been cut have played Trophy Club before but that is just how it is. The rough is quite rough and keeping it in the fairway is a must. I would not go here if you are a beginner as it is quite easy to lose balls in the deep rough. The greens are usually pretty great but they have been aerated recently and are still recovering. I would give it another 2 weeks before they start to roll smooth again. Some fairways have some rough patches but overall I think the course is in good condition.
Course Needs Attention
The Pro Shop wanted to charge me $43 Twilight rate when GolfNow had it for $25. The greens were aerated and very hard. The grass around the greens did not appear to be cut in over a week. The grass just off the fringe had to be 6+ inches deep! Poor conditions at this time! (Experienced Golfer, 8 handicap)
Nothing trophy about it
Course was not maintained at all tee boxes were not cut grass was to high
Maintenance Issues
I played this course for the first time yesterday. When I arrived, saw brown scalped Bermuda grass next to the driving range which was not a good sign. Fairly short tight course, with some interesting holes, but the issue was the condition of the rough. Fairways were mowed, but on some holes the rough has not been mowed THIS YEAR! On some holes, one YARD off the fairway was more than ankle deep which slows play looking for balls. This course obviously has some maintenance issues they need to overcome.
Always good
Staff is great. Marshals are friendly. Course is consistent every time. They placed the some blue tees short but still good
Don't waste your money
I don't write reviews, but you need to be warned. The management at Trophy club should be embarrassed by the conditions of the course. Half of the tee boxes are in such awful condition it's like teeing off in a sand trap. One tee box on the back 9 is in the fairway/rough. This is a $25 course Max. You'll also be lucky to finish 18 holes in 5 hours. Couldn't be more disappointed.
Too crowded
They have so many players come out for twilight now that they have introduced the "players club." I got there at 5pm waited 20 min for a cart. Met up with coworkers on the 7th hole, they had already been playing since 3:40pm. We finished the 17th hole at 8:45pm. So, I played 11 holes in 3 hours and 25 min. They played 17 holes in 5 hours. Probably won't be going back for awhile even at the low price of $21.
Not a value for your dollar
With tax 71.00 green fee play was way to slow, tee boxes were rough. Biggest Complaint slow play.
Great Course
Greens were excellent and fast. All around fun course to play..
Memorial Day 2015
A fair number of tee boxes were being repaired and were either covered with sand or just muddy. The rest of the course was in good condition.
Trophy club of atlanta plays well
This is a shot selection course. Getting off the tee boxes was adventurous at times, since most were sandy and under repair. Overall the pace was good and greens were in good shape. I would play again but not for more than $60 a round
Nice cours
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were good but some tee boxes were under repair and others needed repair. Got behind really slow pair that held up entire course. Overall, had a great time. Will be playing there again.
This course was fun and challenging.
The greens were great and the fairway firm. Great course and friendly staff!
