Great Golfing Experience
The greens ran slower than normal but the overall value for the money was exceptional. Definitely will try and play here again.
Golfers that have lived in the Augusta area for more than a decade or so are likely familiar with the less than stellar reputation of Augusta Municipal Golf Course (affectionately or perhaps not so affectionately known by locals as "The Patch"). In fact, that reputation had kept me away for the past 13 years until yesterday. What a pleasant surprise my buddy Jeff and I encountered. Other than the less than friendly man at the cash register, we had a very good experience. The course was well maintained, especially the greens and bunkers. And it was a fun course to play. As a twosome, we finished our round in less than 3 hours. Yes, the greens are definitely small and can be challenging to hold for 25 handicappers like myself, but that just helps you sharpen your short game. Kudos to the staff at AMGC. We'll be back soon!
Don’t expect too much
I first played here in the winter and found bare tees and very little fairway grass. Play was slow. I told myself not to return until the weather warmed and maybe it’d be better.
Foolish on my part. Play was very slow, including a five-some! Bare tees again (looked like they hadn’t moved them for a week) and weedy fairways. The greens had been recently aerated and really the only thing that looks like it’s cared for.
I paid $16 on GolfNow or I would have been very upset. But I kinda knew what to expect.
Course in bad condition
The overall course condition is poor. Most of the tee boxes on the front 9 had no grass. Course was recently aerated, and most of the greens were extremely bumpy. There wasn’t near enough sand in the aerated holes.
I will try again in a couple months when the greens recover.
Always fun to play here!
Great muni course, the day we played the greens had been aerated and hadn't quite grown in yet. We still had fun and can't wait till it's back to normal.
greens are in good condition
the fairways and tee boxes are still not well taken care of
Fun Muni with History
Really enjoyed what we were able to play. Only real negative was our booking included carts but the course was not allowing carts because of wet conditions (to be honest the course was not wet). It was a very cold and extremely windy day so we only got 9 holes in. Greens were in amazing condition! Layout was player friendly but still offered some risk/reward choices. A great value and we will be back.
Rainy day in Georgia.
Great place to play. Well worth it. Course was in good shape especially for the time of the year. Looking forward to play in the warmer months.
I play here frequently and have had pace of play issues in the past, but never like this. Another player and I bought 11 AM tee times. When we got to the tee at 10:58 there were 9 players on the tee. 5 of them teed off in the first group, the other 4 then teed off in a second group after the first group played their second shots. The guy I was paired with asked if we could go ahead since we were only a group of two, and both groups said no. A course worker pulled up afterward and told us this particular group doesn’t let anyone play through. we were waiting on the tee while the other group teed off the entire day. 5 hours to play this course is unacceptable. The conditions were nice considering it’s February, and I enjoy the layout and challenger of this course.
