Great course
Played this course twice as it was a great value and in good condition
Hidden Gem Near St. Simons Island
I have visited St. Simons Island area many times, but first played Heritage Oaks this year.
Our group was really impressed with the course and the price/round. The greens were spectacular, and likely the overall layout of the course.
The location is considered Brunswick, GA, but on the outskirts in a development west of I-95 by a couple miles.
We liked the course so much; we cancelled another tee time to play Heritage Oaks a 2nd time during our week stay in the area.
You gotta play this track!!
Heritage Oaks is a beautiful course with gorgeous less, marsh, and river front views. It is challenging for all levels of golfers that makes you keep your head in the game. The 18 hole price is reasonable, the staff extremely friendly. And the food & beverage selection is good. They're gold pro, Kevin, is as laid back and nice as they come with awesome golf knowledge and teaching skills. Don't miss out on this gem!!
Singles
Beautiful course, one of my favorites. I travel 72+ miles to play it. The reason I deducted stars is because of the number of singles playing behind us. It is very annoying and distracting when you know someone is sitting waiting on your every stroke. We were keeping up with the 2some ahead of us yet we felt rushed. We let a single through, played a couple more holes, then another single showed up. This went on the entire round. People should be paired up.
Interesting marshland layout, can be soggy
Played with my wife and it was a beautiful day. First time playing. Course conditions were good overall, the greens were beautiful and rolled nice, the fairways less so. it had been dry and breezy and several days since last rain. much of the course was dry but soft. zero roll. parts were a bit soggy . i would avoid this place if it has been raining the day before you play, it will be wet.
the views were pretty nice, some over marsh. lots of water on this course some of it hidden. look at cart gps monitor closely. fairways varied in width but were generous for the most part. tee boxes were in great shape. they clearly overseed with rye. fairway was in decent shape but nothing special.
the rate is a touch high for the condition but i still enjoyed myself. i would come back. it was one of those places where you know you can play well.
two things of interest were they had a few raised tee boxes… on 18 it’s really high. the raises tee boxes are in great shape but the general hardscape around them could use some touch up.
the other odd thing is there is an island green but it wasn’t part of the 18 holes i played. it looks like it is part of the driving range. would be nice it that was a part of play.
what staff that was there was friendly but there were few.
Love stopping in here
I've never been disappointed when stopping in here while traveling up or down 95. I'm not local so I can't say how well the course drains but it seems to stay pretty wet and that makes it play a little tougher so be careful after any rain storms. Other than that, everything is great.
4 handicap
Pretty good condition for winter golf. Greens a bit fuzzy but running true.
Just feel that it’s a bit too expensive. About 10-15 dollars less would be just right.
Wet
In the area for a few days a played here during midday. There had been considerable rain recently and play was 90 degrees from the cart path. With the rain some watering heads were still leaking at the tee boxes making conditions worse.
If the wet conditions had been better all would have been great!
Fairways and greens looked good!
Overpriced
Definitely not enough value for the money. It’s a great course for $35, too bad they charge twice that. Fairways were ok, greens really slow, and rough is basically crabgrass. They should consider lowering their rates.
Soggy but Ok
Course was very wet with some rain during the round. The layout was fine and it was not overly hard. I would go back but when things had dried out.
Great, challenging course.
Excellent course, fast greens, well maintained, friendly staff!
Recommended highly!
Beautiful coarse greens are in great condition. I will be back.
Water on just about on every hole very challenging love the elevated tea boxes.
Like all golf courses Heritage Oaks has turf challenges, but this is December, a month which crabgrass and Bermuda are dormant. I am the owner of Heritage Oaks and invite you to return and point out each piece of crabgrass, and using Kraft Salad dressing, I will eat all of it. Hope to see you soon.
