Sanctuary Golf Club

Played an excellent round at Sanctuary today. Was greeted immediately by a very nice gentleman at the bag drop. The same gentleman was working in the pro shop when we went into pay and was back outside acting as the starter when we finished warming up. He handled all three positions with ease and professionalism. He paired my twosome up with a member, which we appreciated since it was our first time playing the course. Amazingly he also greeted us at the end of the round, asking us if we enjoyed our round, which we answered in the affirmative. He then wished us safe travels during the rest of our trip, The course was in great shape and was a true pleasure to play. We were the first ones on the course so pace of play was not an issue. We finished 18 holes in under three hours. We would play the course often if we lived in the area. Well worth the cost and very well maintained.

I have played this course several times and it never disappoints me. Very good layout, great staff and the condition is always great. Highly recommend you play here if you are in the Brunswick area.

My wife my buddy booked the time for the three of us to play on a beautiful day humidity low 75° hardly any wind and the Golf Course is the final touch. Teed off at 9:05 in the morning finished well one scores were pretty good because Course was perfect. Wide fairways manicure fairways and wonderful greens. You can actually roll the ball direction that you intended. Couples and David love the third really know how to protocol together.

Nice course, but a lot of room for improvement.

The clubhouse: In need of a serious upgrade. The bathrooms are small and pretty run down. Felt like I was in an old gas station bathroom. The restaurant had one/ maybe two employees working. It took over 10 minutes to get a hot dog at the turn. Also, got a hot chocolate before the round. 16oz of hot water and 1 Swiss Miss packet…$4.50…crazy pricing.

The practice area:: a lot of potential but run down. We had a tee time @ 10:30. Got there around 9:45 and there were very few balls on the range. The balls also werent cleaned and a lot of them were old and had worn dimples. There is a sign that said you couldn’t take practice balls to the short game area. The short game practice area is one of the things I had remembered the most from the last time I played Sanctuary. I do not remember that sign being there last time. Our group gave ourselves an hour to warm up, but with the practice area being run-down, we didn’t truly get to utilize the practice area to its full extent.

The course: the course is great. Great layout, above average conditions, greens roll true and are challenging but fair. The bunkers had a lot of sand and were consistent throughout the course. The front nine is pretty basic golf, no real memorable golf holes, but very good golf overall. The back nine holes that back up against the marsh and the water are great. The back is much trickier as holes get narrower and your misses have to be much smaller to keep the ball in play. But again, very good conditions and challenging, but a good test of target golf and risk/reward.

The pace on the course was incredibly slow. I do not remember how long it took for us to finish, but I know we waited on 75% of our shots. At one time, I counted 6 groups between two holes, a par 5 and a par 3.

We never saw a ranger on the course and they did not have a bev cart either. Both are two people i expect to see especially on a Saturday.

We drive up from Jax Beach (about an 1:15 drive) and paid about $150 per player. After our experience with Sanctuary, our group didn’t feel that it would be worth the price or the drive again. There are better courses that are only an additional 20 minutes down the road or some that are even closer to northern Florida. Sanctuary has a lot more local competition than they did before. Hopefully they figure that out before it’s too late.

My husband and I play a few days after some rain and it was cart paths only. Still had a great time! The couse was well maintained after the rain. Bunkers raked.

Played yesterday after a solid week of rain and the course was totally playable - which is a major credit to their grounds crew.

It was CPO, which was a major hassle, but no fault of the course - just be aware that if hit a draw asbI do, they have the paths on the opposite side of the fairway on most of the holes. Again - juat venting.

The layout was fantastic with a solid mix of r/r holes and some reachable par 5s.

The greens were in great shape and rolled true.

It's I only a little over an hour away and Ive already made plans to go back after It's had a chance to dry out.

Golf course was in incredible shape! CPO because of all the rain that we have been getting. Greens were perfect! Will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area.

All was great except the massive sprinklers came on during our last hole. No one seemed to care. That shouldn’t happen at 4:15 on a Saturday.

Enjoyed the course and will be back. Cart path only since fairways were very wet, had a water stop on front and back nine but needed more due to heat and cart path only. Greens were in great condition as were the fairways.

Due to excessive rain leading up to our date of play we were cart path only.

As wet as the course was the greens remained firm and fast, they were in great shape.

Played Sanctuary Cove for the first time on Labor Day after finding an AMAZING deal on GolfNow, and this course is absolutely going on my "play again ASAP" list!

The staff was incredibly friendly, the greens were beautiful, the views were even better, and the course was in fantastic shape. And can we talk about the GRASS?! It was so thick, soft, and fluffy that I genuinely wanted to take my shoes off and walk through it barefoot. Yes I resisted, because apparently we're supposed to have some standards on the golf course.

The layout was the perfect combination of challenging and fun. There were definitely some holes that required a little strategy… and several where my golf ball politely declined to participate in said strategy. As a newer golfer, I really enjoyed that it was challenging without taking the fun out of the round.

They also provide complimentary water and ice, which was VERY appreciated on a hot Labor Day in coastal GA. Love bug season had apparently received our tee time because they showed up in full force, including a few swarms throughout the course. Honestly though, I'll take love bugs over mosquitoes and gnats any day.

Another HUGE plus is their "At the Turn" menu. Call around hole 8, and they'll have your food ready when you make the turn. For only $10 you can get a hot dog & chips, burger & string fries, or your choice of a cold sandwich with chips. Even the chef was super friendly!

Great staff, beautiful scenery, excellent course conditions, a fun and challenging layout, affordable food, and a great value through GolfNow. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about our experience.

My 12 year old and I stopped in on the way to Jacksonville and played, they had gotten a lot of rain(CPO) and everything plugged everywhere. Greens were true, a bit slow from not being able to cut from the rain, but still smooth. Layout was good, back nine was gorgeous in the marsh! Will go back.

Positives:

- perfect course for all skill levels. Wide fairways, big, fast, almost-perfect greens. Fairways are gorgeous.

- I got a nice deal that cut their normal $100 rate in half.

Negatives:

- Steady drizzle, so they switched the carts to CPO, even though everywhere I walked was firm. It’s pretty clear they just got scared at the radar instead of actually driving out to check the fairway firmness. Do you know how irritating it is to pay for a cart that can’t go anywhere?

- Simple turkey&cheese sandwich at the turn is $15. Ouch.

- They were recently closed for course maintenance, and it showed. Looks like they tried to hack down the brush, but made no effort to clean up the aftermath.
