Fun course! Slow greens
The course is greatly improved since they removed some of the sea grass. I played it a few years ago and it was very difficult. The range was closed due to heavy rain from previous days. The greens are way too slow for bermuda greens. Slowest I've ever seen. It was like putting on shag carpet. They are probably a 3 or 4 on the stimp meter. My home course has bent grass greens and they are slow in the summer, but these were twice as slow and pretty much unputtable. You shouldn't have to hit the putt super hard and still have it stop a few inches from the hole. I was going to play here for 5 rounds while on vacation. But with the slow greens I'll spend my money elsewhere. I'll give the course another try on my next trip.
Soon to be great again
Saw grass in the fairways was a major flaw but the owner seems to be rectifying that error. Give this course a few more months and it will be great again.
Brunswick 1st timer!
I enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging off the tee box on most holes with the water always on the side of the fairways. The fairways well maintained and lush green. The greens were soft which required a firm stroke with the putter. I'll definitely look at playing this course again next time in the Brunswick area.
Nice Place, Nice People
It was rather wet, made playing from the Blues pretty LONG. This course has a demand on the approach shot. The people have been very nice every time we have been there.
Loads of Potential
This course could be so much more than it is. It's in decent shape. Greens are good. Some grown in bunkers. Some bare spots on the fairways and or crab grass. Again, in decent shape but should be so much more. Golf carts were annoying. No one told me that the carts shut down if you venture into a 'restricted area' of the course. 'Restricted areas' were very regular areas for other courses but on this course, not so much. Golf cart flat out shuts off and you have put it in super slow reverse until you leave the 'restricted area'. These area are not marked and this cart feature was not explained in any way shape or form when I checked in. That would have been nice!
Course was pretty tough. Definitely a members course. You will need to play it a few times to get the ins and outs. Good fun though.
If you can find a hot deal then this course is good value at $22 or less. Don't pay more than that.
Great Local Course
This is a great course that may get overlooked. Do yourself a favor and make sure to include this course in your plans. You won't be sorry!! The course is in good shape and is challenging to keep u on ur game. We will play this course next time we are in town.
Hidden Gem?
Played Sunday morning 7:40 AM hotdeal. Virtually no one playing this course. Checkin was a breeze, guy at desk awesome. I was able to go out early following another single on the same agenda. Played fairly quickly 3 hours not rushing taking my time. Course layout very nice, holes actually not very demanding but visually intimidating from the tees since the course is very flat and every hole is framed by tall grasses so only portions of the fairway can be seen from most of the tees, only had 1 visit to the tall grass area trying to cut the corner on the only real dogleg left par 5 17th. Conditions I'd rate a 8 out of 10, tees, fairways great, rough not deep but difficult to hit from, bunkers hard due to recent rain but has good base of sand, greens moderate speed only a couple a little patchy not affecting play. Greens played slow this morning due to last night rain. Carts have GPS, took a few holes to notice it down by the ignition key. Back nine a little confusing to start, sign shows #10 blue tees immediately afer leaving ninth green, par 3 island green. Not open sign posted by white tees, OK no signs showing where actual #10 is but it had to be on the other side of the clubhouse and there it was after a little search. Couldn't understand why more golfers were not out at 10AM when I finished as only 15 cars were in the parking lot. Would definately play this course routinely if I lived in this area.
Beautiful course
Beautiful and difficult course. Would definatly play this course again
Great value
Greens need improvement but overall good conditions. Well maintained golf community.
Playing
The course is in good shape and is challenging to keep u on ur game
A great course to test your game!
Some greens had weathered spots but pin positions took away those issues.
Excellent value for cost!
Nice touch with 18th Tee DOCK!
Golf among the marsh grass
Have played this course several times. It has changed over the years and this year was the best I've seen. The course set up has improved and it looks so much better than originally. Last year they put in too much of the natural grasses. They have removed a lot which made the course fairer to play. There is still a lot of the grass and you can get into trouble if you find it. Pretty course now and fun to play. I wouldn't recommend walking, good distances between some of the holes, but not hilly.
Unkept
The course was just okay. On the positive side... This. Is a fun course to play and fairways are in good shape. I played the tips and a couple of the tees had not been cut in weeks. On 18 tee ...black tee...the grass was 3-4 inches high. Some of the bunkers have grass growing in them and are very unkept . On 6 ... One of the signature holes... Was closed??? My buddy was playing blue tees and the island green near the clubhouse had no tee markers.. No blue tee markers??? The greens were sloooooow maybe a 6 or 7 on the stimph meter and some looked diseased with black algae and are extremely grainy. On some holes there is some sort of marsh grass or sawgrass. There is a lot of it and is in some silly places... Right beside greens, in the middle of fairways and just some crazy places. I played it for $ 25 and don't feel like it is worth any more than that. Sanctuary Cove is $27 and is much nicer all the way around
Hidden Gem
This is a great course that may get overlooked. Do yourself a favor and make sure to include this course in your plans. You won't be sorry!!
Good but too unforgiving for me
Too many hazards. Good golf ears would like it average golf ears who play for fun might not.
Good course
Course is very challenging and surrounds are beautiful. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Fairways and greens are a little burned right know. This was expected since the average temp the week played was 94° and the heat index reaching 105° - 110°. Would love to play it again in the fall.. Good value for the course..
Not for the average Golfer
The staff is Great ! This is the most difficult course I have ever played. Pampas grass comes into play on every hole. Water on nearly every hole. Pampas grass runs about ten yards off fairway and fairways are pretty narrow.. You are even in the fairway or out of bounds. The fairways and greens are wonderful. The bunker sand could use some attention but not terrible. I give the value average because the green fee then added by the balls you will lose is average cost. Recovery is a part of golf just watch the tour players. This course factors that out with the hazards. Be prepared for higher scores than usual. Aim for the 150 markers, and leave the driver home, and you should be fine. A beautiful course with great surroundings.
What a waste of a good piece of land
The course was in poor condition and had the worst "good-shot/reward" ratio I've played in the area. Not to say that you could tell where to hit the ball in advance - the maps are outdated and visual clues from the tee box are almost non-existent, One of the many annoyances - 420 yard par 5's preceded by 510 yard par 4's. The greens were in terrible condition... but I did get my first birdie of the year and played well. Even that did not improve my opinion of this course.
Quick Island Course
Great Course extremely tight. Lost a bunch of balls in the tall grass but course was in great shape.
Nice coastal GA course!
Nice course with several beautiful holes on the Brunswick coastal marshes. A very challenging course in good condition. On this day the greens were slow and grainy. One downside was the overabundance of pampas grass on every hole which are a magnet for golf balls
Thank you for the kind words!
