Jekyll Island Golf Club - Indian Mound Course

About
Jekyll Island Golf Club is Georgia's largest public golf facility, offering three 18-hole courses and a nine-hole course. Two of the 18-hole courses, Pine Lakes and Indian Mound, have similar characteristics since they sit side by side. Both are younger than the Oleander, which is considered the toughest of the three and served as host to the Georgia Open for four years. The Indian Mound Course is the shortest of the three at just under 6,500 yards from the back tees but that is not to say you won't run into a fair amount of challenges. The layout features lengthy par 5s that you wouldn't expect given the yardage, and the par 4s offer scoring opportunities for those who take advantage of the short shots into the green. The Indian Mound Course's main challenges are the undulating greens and abundance of sand.

Plan on lots of waiting in afternoon
We’ve played this course several times and the pace of play has been slow, but not as slow as this time. With a 3:40 tee time, we didn’t tee off until 2:50. There were two foursomes ahead of us that included obvious non-golfers. The one immediately in front of us spent much more than the regulation 3 minutes looking for balls on the second hole, so caused a backup right from the beginning. The course needs an on course ranger. Since our “home” course is impeccably maintained (and notably challenging) with rangers on busy days, I’m basing my comparison on that experience. However, at the end of the 18th hole (which we didn’t play as we ran out of time before the 7 pm closing), was a sign that noted “Pace of play, 4.5 hours.” The course and greens were in fairly good condition with fewer damage from the resident armadillos than last year.
Pace of play
Everything was great really enjoyed the course… my only two things was the pace of play was slow and wish they offered more or better stuff from the cart lady beside that it was awesome
Never Played But was Charged
This course appeared under my reservations while we were playing Sanctuary. I never booked it and my cc was charged.

Fabulous Course
Loved the course. Would definitely play on again and again
Indian Mounds is in really good condition
Indian Mounds is in really good condition at this time. Greens are nicely maintained and putt true with subtle breaks. Fairways have nice grass where the golf balls set nice. Stay out of the traps if possible! Very soft sand with egg lies. Close your sand wedge and hope for the best with roll. Best value for the dollar at this time in the Golden Isles and in super condition. Great twosome!
Shrinking greens
Slowly inch by inch lot of greens are getting smaller because they are not cutting to the original edge and over time the greens are getting smaller. Don’t know if this is on purpose as a maintenance money saver .
Also not one ball washer on the course. What a shame. They have them in storage but again too lazy to put at least one every three or four holes.
Also another glaring issue is they removed all trash/ litter
containers from the course so now you’ll see more garbage throughout your round. Just another example of laziness and neglect on behalf of the course superintendent. Cutting corners while increasing the green fees. Jekyll Island prides itself in being a pristine and natural environment so return the littler containers
The Big Hustle
The starter came and got me and paired me with another golfer to get us off quickly and out of the way. After 1 hole we realized he had put us behind 2 foursomes,we then waited on every hole on .

Typo in review. Tee time was 2:40, not 3:40.
