About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Good pace 3 1/2 hours after a 11:20 tee time. Staff is incredible from Pro Shop to Grill. Always enjoy the place.

Very Enjoyable
Really enjoyed the course layout plenty of Teebox choices for every level of play, but there are a few holes that run close to each other so keep a lookout for your fellow golfers conditions for this time of year but everything dormant look forward to playing this course when the grass is back to green.

Good course, great pace.
Had an early Sunday tee time, finished 18 in a bit over 3-1/2 hours which was a breath of fresh air. Course is in great condition for the most part, some greens have some minor seeding problems around the edges but never caused us any problems. Greens are very receptive and fast. Fairways, rough, and bunkers in great condition. Had a great time and will absolutely be coming back.

Friday afternoon round
All in all it was a good round. Playing on a Friday afternoon comes with the risk of slow play. I joined another single, ended up behind another pair. Somewhere in front of us was a 4some that appeared to be playing best ball. A lot of standing around.

Solid for price
Fun course that is worth the green fee. Pace of play was great and layout gave some fun shots to try. Greens were in good shape, but bunkers lack the proper layer of sand (felt like solid clay underneath top layer). Would play again.
