The Chimneys Golf Course
About
The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Great conditions
Friday was the first time I played The Chimney, and I loved it so much I came back Saturday. Being from Norway this course reminded me of what we call "Park" Golf courses back home, with being located away from houses and development. Greens were fantastic, fairways were plush and rough was well manicured. Staff and everyone around were so helpful and welcoming. As you can see: My son and I loved this course!!!
great value if you catch it at the right time
The course is in great shape! Particularly the bunkers. They have actually fluffy sand in them which is rare around here lately. The greens are recently redone and in great shape. The only complaint I have is pace of play. They don't have marshals riding around keeping people moving. This is a great course if you catch it at the right price. The price varies wildly. I have seen it at over $100, and it was $59.50 when I played yesterday. Wait and catch it for less than $80 and you won't be disappointed!
Senior friendly
I really like this course! It is rarely cart path only as it drains very well. The greens and fairways are well maintained and the staff is very good. Sometimes the traps could be a bit better. Only real constructive comment I can make is that a marshall on weekend mornings 8-11 would keep things moving. Many new golfers seem to play here and slow the pace to well over 4+ hours. All golfers should be told at check in or tee box to please keep the group , well in sight--especially so if the group ahead is a foursome. The 3 minute rule looking for a lost ball should be noted as well. Also, the course should block at least 3 tees after a tournament starts, as they are always slow. A five hour round is not uncommon behind a walking junior tournament.
One of the best courses around
Fairways are in excellent condition, the rough will make you wish you were in the fairway. greens are fast and challenging! Love this course. Staff is absolutely excellent and friendly
Great course but terrible pace of play
Course was in great condition but I paid $115 for 18 holes, it took 3 hours to play 9. I ended up having to leave after 9 and wasted the other $50 since I live in Statesboro, Great course but if you’re planning on doing something after your round go somewhere else.
Great experience
I’m new to the area and heard good things about this course. The course exceeded my expectations! Great track in very good condition. Staff was great, especially big John at the front desk! Will definitely play again!!
Excellent operation
Staff very professional and helpful at check-in.
Course was in excellent shape. Nice layout.
Fantastic
Chimneys Golf Course in Winder, Georgia, truly delivered an amazing golf experience. From the moment we teed off, it was clear the course is meticulously cared for. The fairways were simply superb – lush, well-manicured, and provided perfect lies, making every shot feel like a pro. The tee boxes were equally impressive, consistently in great condition and level, a testament to the club's attention to detail.
While some courses boast lightning-fast greens, Chimneys offered something different and equally enjoyable: slow-running, good-looking greens. They were true and rolled consistently, allowing for confident putts and a strategic approach to every hole. The slower pace also highlighted the subtle breaks and undulations, adding an extra layer of challenge and thought to each stroke.
The picturesque setting, with its natural rockwork and mature trees, only enhanced the round. The staff was incredibly friendly, contributing to a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. This course is a hidden gem that offers a fantastic blend of playability and beauty. I thoroughly enjoyed my round at Chimneys Golf Course and will absolutely be playing here again soon. Highly recommended for any golfer looking for a well-maintained and enjoyable outing!
Fun Course, aerated greens
Had a great time playing the course. Caught a hot deal due to aerated greens and had great pace of play until the back 9. 3-4 foursomes at hole 12 bottlenecking the course
Fun Course, Great Conditions
Greens installed a year ago are rolling great. Great quality for affordable public golf. Firm but not too firm, not slow, fairly fast. The course would be much tougher if green speeds were dialed up to have approaches impacted more by green contours.
Get your scoring in over the first 6 holes. The course starts very short and easy. Gets much tougher and more interesting as it goes. LOVE the back 9; scenic and well designed holes.
Best course within 30 minutes
If this course was a little closer to downtown Monroe, I would play here a lot more. It’s my favorite local course.
Good course for seniors
The course is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The course drains well after rain and is not too hilly for seniors. Pace of play is a concern at times and is not routinely enforced with a ranger. Tournaments are definitely slow and there are.generally no sterile tee times after touraments to help Pace. All in all a very good public course.
