Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

providence course review
Every thing was good except pace of play was not bad but a ranger on course could have taken about 10 minutes off round and made it flow better and I booked on golf now and nothing was said about recent aeriation. Greens were a little sandy
Course is in good shape, except the aerated greens
Greens need a couple more weeks to get over the aeration and sand. They were bumpy and didn't break as they looked. The rest of the course is in great shape! It was nice to see actual sand in the bunkers. Unlike some of the other courses around the area that need bunker work. Fairways are greening up nicely. This is a fun course to play.
Providence
Good course for the price. A little understaffed. Could not get anything to drink at the turn.
Good Course
Course was in good shape but for the fact that the greens had been punched an dressed.
Great Layout
A very nice mix of holes with the fastest green in the area.
SOME GREAT HOLES
COURSE FELT LIKE IT WAS BUILT ON A MOUNTAIN SIDE - VERY HILLY. GREENS WERE GOOD - FAIRWAYS WERE AVERAGE BUT IT WAS EARLY SPRING. EVERY HOLE PRESENTED A CHALLENGE - BRING YOUR BEST DRIVING ABILITY AND A YARDAGE METER.
Great gem of a course
Love the staff and the course is awesome.
Highly reccomend giving this coure a try.
In wonderful condition
Love this course wish it was closer to I'd play it more often.
Good layout
Good course. Great layout. Everyone can play this course, but challenging for everyone. Good value. They do need to add a cart person to come around during rounds.
kindness
we did playing golf 12-people on 4/8/14.
one men of lot staff, very unkindness and un honesty.
Excellent Greens
The course has some of the best greens around. Good mixture of holes.
Terrible Staff
Whoever was working in the Golf shop the morning of my tee time was a total jerk. I will never be back at Providence Club after the way that tool bag treated me. I am 28 years old and he talked down to me like I was 12. I prepaid for my tee time on golf.now early in the week, and when I got there Saturday to check in for my tee time, the guy working in the pro shop didn't believe that I already paid. I tried to explain to him I prepaid online at golf.now earlier in the week and if he could please double check for me.....I asked him nicely 3 times and he wouldn't even double check for me. He was a total jerk about it and talked to me like I was 12. Luckily I had the confirmation email that Providence Club had sent me saved on my phone. I showed him that and after the old man squinted at my phone for 5 minutes trying to read it he finally let us play. I understand that mix ups happen, but the way he talked to me and refused to even double check ticked me off. On top of that the course was in terrible condition. I would recommend 3 chimneys over providence club any day.
Decent course, good elevation
Not well kept greens, can't tell where fairway stops and rough starts
Course Overall Condition
I was a little disappointed but it was due to Cart Path only and very wet. I know that's not the fault of the staff. I guess they had a lot of rain earlier in the week and draining may have been a big issue. I do want to schedule another time in the spring to play the course again.
Always a nice play
Even in the middle of winter, course and staff are excellent.
Nice course but overbooked
Very nice course presenting moderate challenges. Nice people too. But even with a tee time and being at the first tee box on time, found 5 groups ahead of us waiting to go. This has happened on more than one occasion. They really overbook and the pace of play once you get off is very slow. Had to wait on every shot. No Marshall in sight moving people along.
You'll enjoy this course
Everybody was very friendly even the players. Good old fashioned southern hospitality. Greens are in good shape but a challenge. I got to play with a regular who "caddied" for me. i.e. He gave me the inside scoop on where to hit and where to avoid. The holes aren't super long which was nice. There's nothing like reaching a par 5 in 2 or playing a reachable par 4. Very enjoyable course.
I always enjoy playing this course!
The greens are the hardest part for me. The fairways for the most part are forgiving. You will need to bring your best game to score well.
friendly for average golfer
have an opportunity to par and even eagle some holes with good drive. Love playing here
East Atlanta must go
Definitely coming back, can't wait to see what it's like in the summer.
