On the Rise
This course appears to be heading in the right direction with upgraded carts, improvements to the clubhouse and generally good fairways and greens. Tee boxes need work. The drawback I have found after playing this course a few times is that several holes are built on a shelf so that if a tee shot is slightly offline, the result can be extremely severe. On some holes, the cart paths are a good 5-6 feet below the fairways and there is little to no rough before a ball is lost or if found is unplayable. I don’t see this feature changing because there is probably not enough space to soften these areas and even if there was, the cost would likely be prohibitive. These conditions only impact a few holes, but it’s frustrating to have a blowup hole when your miss wasn’t that bad.
There are some courses where you finish playing and think, “that course kicked my butt and I can’t wait to play it again”. There are other courses where you think, “ I am content never playing that course again..” This course is the latter for me. I am a 10 hdcp, not overly long off the tee, but usually pretty well in control of my ball. I didn’t keep score, but I would be shocked if I would have broke 100 if I had been keeping track.
This course is tight. Very tight. If you are a spray and pray type of player you will be in for a very long and frustrating round. Overall conditions were pretty decent. Fairways were pretty plush, there are a lot of bare areas along the shaded edges of the fairways, but I think that’s typical with courses like this. Greens were solid, they rolled true and the only one I recall that had a lot of dead areas was #17. There were some tee-boxes that were pretty rough, and quite a few bunkers that were flooded. The rough wasn’t sure tall, but it was pretty thick and lush, if your ball found the rough around the greens it was very tough to judge how the ball would come off the face. Course is going full private August 1,
Fairways and Tee Boxes need a little love.
This course could easily be a 4ish-star course. However, it seems that the maintenance of the course is not a priority. Aside from the greens, there seemed to be drainage/erosion issues that left some fairways well nourished and others not so much. Tee boxes could use a little more attention as well, all of them. Mostly uneven and unattended to. The greens were pretty good though! Hope this helps.
Course demands accuracy!
The course is pretty tight, with the exception of a few parallel holes. If you miss the fairway by just a couple of yards, you can be in trouble. Multiple par 4s where you need to hit a long iron / short wood (no driver) off the tee.
Overall it was enjoyable, but if you spray the ball a bit be prepared to lose some balls!
Nice
Good course ! some of the fairways can be challenging. Greens are in great shaped.
Great course
Had a group of six Indian kids jump on in front of me. They were hitting multiple balls so I tried to play through them at the par three. They hit balls at me as I tried to get by. Getting out of hand over here.
Great Greens with Bald Fairways and Bad Bunkers
There are many bald spots on the fairways with water run off, also some weeds on fairways.. The Bunkers have not been raked in a long time clearly and are in bad shape. Greens are however good overall and rolling well
Best course for value and semi private
It is really sad that August first this course is going full private. I will have to try and find another great course to play.
Soon it will be too late
Have played this course a few times. Kinda hilly but always a good fallback if others weren't available. Super friendly staff. Some practice areas ( putting, chipping, range). Unfortunately, on my last visit I was informed that the course is going private the end of July. So if you are gonna play it, you have to do it soon!
Smoke Rise
The young lady that checked me in was super friendly and personable. She was able to check me in and get me right out to start playing. The course was wide open so the pace was great. Course was in great shape. A couple of the tee boxes had very little grass. Same with the a few greens had small patches of fungus or no grass at all. Other than that everything else was great.
Sand traps
The fairways are good. Greens sanded but ran nice. No bunker maintenance.
Did Not Tee Off
Arrived an hour early for our 810 tee time. Was informed that we could not tee off till 11 AM with no explanation Was told that golf now should have notified us and will refund our fees.
So, we left. Did not get to play and will make no attempt to play again.
Course Conditions should be better
I was told that thus course will be converted to a total private membership golf club from August so i expected the course conditions be more than decent. However, i see lots of erosions on the courses and the tee boxes were not maintained well. Many areas to be sandy on greens as well. You will not like the course layout if you are a long hitter. Almost every hole is dogleg right or left with narrow fairways. Need accurate tee shots. My son only hit a couple of drivers and used hybrid or irons rest of coursed for a tee shot.
Decent
Fun, challenging course. Pace of play was very very slow. And the lack of water at this water stations on such a hot day was poor. A lot of dirt spots and drainage areas but it’s still a fun well maintained course in the spots that are good good golf carts and on board GPS.
