Smoke Rise Country Club

The greens are in great shape, there are a lot of bare spots on the course, the cart paths are in need of major repair. The sand traps need sand, basically no sand just a hard linning. The club house has been remodeled and the staff was awesome. The pace of play was good because the course was not crowded.

The greens were in awful shape, the course layout is pretty miserable in my opinion, the tee boxes were in shambles, and we shall not be returning. Charging $75 for that place is absolutely incomprehensible.

All around good course and round, I will be back again.

The golf carts are simply horrific. Be prepared to be auto-stopped and for your cart to be hijacked even when driving only on the cart path. It's simply unbearable. You iterally have to reverse for 30 yards to be reactivated. And guess what. If you are a foursome the rear cart has to back up too because leaving the path will lock down both carts.

The course is also a disaster. Mud is everywhere and ironically this caused 2 cart crashes we witnessed in other groups. If someone could eliminate about 95% of the useless mud sand traps and get some functioning carts, this course might be worth playing it the price it is now. But until then, don't play it.

This is a tough be fair course Layout. However, when course mgmt decides to make the entire course Cart Path Only. This course is Zero Fun.

Frustrating experience all around.

Golf carts would indicate when you’ve exceeded some 8mph limit, and then shut off for 2-3 seconds. This applies when on the course and between holes. They’d also turn off if it determined you were not on the cart path, even when directly in the center of the cart path.

Greens & tee boxes were in very rough shape.

Not worth the aggravation or money. Claims to be going private in August, not sure how fixes would be in place that quickly.

Fix cart paths, make good faiway entry and exit, fix tee boxes and it would be super. Greens were good. Some rough patches but they appeared to be on it. Fairways and rough were pretty good. New carts are a pain. Constantly stipping if you go over 8mph in "danger zones". Problem was it was impossible to go that slow so I had to just let the cart roll itself down hills which was really really slow. Staff was exceptional. Love the new remodel of bar and pro shop downstairs. No more running up and down steps to get drinks. Keep up the great work and thank you for avgreat round!

Course is not worth 90 or $70 better off going to Chastain and paying 35.

-Incredibly annoying cart that would shut down anytime you go above 8 mph. Worst cart experience probably ever.

We went off around 9am on a holiday weekend Friday and didn’t see a single group ahead of us the entire round (even with only 3 in our group). Fun layout, some tight shots. They’d recently sanded the greens and fertilized, but otherwise it was such a fun round. The carts kept locking over 8 mph, which I hadn’t seen before and caused some jerky rides.

Pretty good. Few greens had some sand on it but overall greens weren’t too bad and fairways were solid.

Nice course with a challenging layout. Just needs some manicuring and attention and someone with some cash to get it back to its prime. Lots of waste areas AND ROUGH wet fairway areas. sand on several greens as well as unkept bunkers.

Needs TLC

This course came highly recommended on the Golf now app. They had a hot deal this morning when I decided that I wanted to play golf today so I booked my teatime and drove 30 minutes to the golf course. When I arrived at the golf course the parking lot was empty and the doors were locked. I have never in my life had this happen. Absolutely mind-boggling! Won’t be trying this place again. I’ve moved onto the country club of Gwinnett. Hopefully they are open today!

This course has a tough, challenging layout--tight and hilly. You have to be smart about how you approach the holes, which makes it fun. Most of the time. Overall, the course seems to be improving. It's not perfect. A lot of the tee boxes are dirt. There are red clay patches on some of the fairways and there are some erosion issues for sure. The greens are in good shape except for a few holes that have some rough patches on the fringe being repaired. Some sand traps are in bad shape too. But it seems like management is putting effort into fixing up the course so I'm going to be patient with it for now as I enjoy playing there. The greens fees are definitely too high for what you get, but I'm hoping by paying a little extra it will go towards continued improvements.
