Smoke Rise Country Club

The course has a fun design, you get to use the whole bag of clubs given the doglegs and hills. Staff was very friendly. Equipment conditions were good. Course conditions excellent for early fall.

Definitely a place to return.

I played in a foursome with some buddies who are not amazing and we still zipped around the whole course in 4 hours. It is so nice playing somewhere where they keep up pace of play unlike most other Atlanta courses!

I have always loved the layout and the friendly staff at Smoke Rise. Unfortunately, the last time I played the course (last year) the condition of the entire course was not great. I was so pleasantly surprised with the course yesterday. The greens, fairwarys and even the tee boxes were excellent. I'll be back next week!! Great job turning things around!!

I've been meaning to try Smoke Rise for about a year. Was scared off by a lot of negative reviews last summer but I was very impressed with the course conditions and layout. It's a tight, hilly course that requires some strategy. The fairways were excellent save a few bare patches here and there that really aren't in play. Greens were perfect. Tee boxes were hit or miss but mostly fine overall. The clubhouse and pro shop are a little sad for a "country club" but it seems like they're trying to raise $ and boost membership to fix that stuff up. The course, however, is solid. It was cart path only for our round but I'm fine with that if it keeps the fairways pristine. Will be back.

This course has a beautiful layout, lots of elevation, and can be very challenging with some narrow fairways. Would play again. A lot of iron play!

Course is in great shape. Tee boxes are the only issues and some of the bunkers. Greens are in great shape. The hot dogs on the turn are excellent as well.

Arrived shortly after Noon on 9-7-24. Tried to book through GN but kept getting rejected. I knew the course was pretty open so I went anyway. When I got there, the pro shop literally told me to go somewhere else. Literally. No carts. No range balls. And no effort to resolve the situation. A couple of hours worth of times had been blocked off with no notice. To be fair it had been a very busy morning. They were polite about it, but still disappointing.

That’s when Greg and Marshall stepped up. They got me a cart for the front and said switch it out after 9 holes. Totally reasonable and fair. Even gave me a Gatorade. I appreciate their initiative. Great guys who “get it. “

Greens and fairways in excellent shape. Tee boxes coming along. They continue to spend money renovating and improving the grounds and it shows. Might want to think about updating the cart fleet if the batteries aren’t holding a charge anymore.

Will continue to support the course and club. They are working hard to restore everything. Well done Smoke Rise and thank you to Greg and Marshall.

The course was empty. Me and two other guys showed up to play. Found out when I checked in that only half the course was open. Not allowed to hit off the grass practice area, guest had to hit off the 50 year old mats. Took a rain check for the back 9 because I had no desire to play a crappy front 9 twice. Will probably never use my rain check!

Really enjoyed the course, although pace was really slow. Honestly, it was our group's fault, as I and my partner were joined up with two extremely slow players. But, the one course marshal we saw all day didn't say anything to us. Maybe because we let two groups play through.

Only really negative thing was that it was hot has Hades, and we never saw a single beverage cart the entire 5+ hours we were on the course. Would have bought drinks at the clubhouse, but we were told there was a cart on the course.

Greens are in great shape. Where the fairways were good, they were, but lot of messy holes. Tre boxes were a mess. Should have been a cart path only day as the course was soaked. This is not a course for the older golfer as lots of holes you have to walk up to the fairways. GPS on carts has to be off as the auto stop puts you in places ten feet from the fairway where you are suddenly stopped. They slow you for bridges after you crossed them.

This course is a lot of fun and definitely makes you think about what shot you’re going to hit. The course guide on the website is helpful. A few rough patches on the fairways and greens but overall they are really tee boxes were nice as well.

Finished 18 right at three hours and we were taking our time!

Although this course is a little rough around the edges it has a nice layout and for the most part conditioning is pretty nice. It seems like a 25 year old course that needs an upgrade. Cut through the woods with a nice amount of water and challengingly hilly. Greens, like the course in general are a little uneven, but for the most part accept shots and most putts run true. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Certainly worth checking out.
