Sugar Hill Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Poor pace of play
Had a group of teens in front of us playing a scramble with no concerns for pace of play. Course did not have a Ranger/Marshall riding around to ensure people were keeping up with groups in front of them.
Fun, open, and good price
Course is fun and fairly open. No worries about hitting homes lining a tight fairway. A couple of the holes are very hilly and you can’t see the green until you’re on top of it. It’s a good price compared to other courses, good condition, and has nice GPS carts.
Lovely local. Not perfect tho
Consistent greens, but slow. Good fairways/tees with the occasional clay runoff area. Manny bunkers are GUR as they are full of small stones. Been like that for years I don’t understand it. The Marshalls don’t do anything - sometimes you get very slow 4-zones, or worse you get 4 domes splitting in to 2-domes that then pass each other thinking “if I skip this hole the pace will be better on the next one”. Really need more discipline in forcing people to play 4-somes.
That being said, can’t beat the $40 at 4:10. Very fun course layout for skilled players. Cut all the corners.
Great job guys!
The staff has done so much to improve this beautiful little course. If they did some landscaping and planted some azaleas I'd think I was at a private course. New golf carts and the windscreens look great.
Mother's Day inadequacies
No beverage cart, no marshals. By hole 13, the 2:10 tee time was 3 holes out of position. I was playing behind them. Skipped them on 13. Played 14, 15 and 16 and the 2:10 tee time was still not finished with 14. Meanwhile the 2:00 tee time was finishing 17. Very poorly managed for a Sunday afternoon.
Nice course, cheap staff
Nice course, good layout, good condition, uncooperative staff wanted to charge full price for wife to ride in cart, but wouldn’t allow that because there were 3 others golfers signed up to play so they said no single cart would be allowed. Other 3 golfers failed to show and still wouldn’t allow wife to ride with me. Ended up being a 5.5 hour round due to slow play.
