Lake Arrowhead Yacht & Country Club - Highlands Course

I always enjoy playing at Lake Arrowhead. But Unfortunately the course conditions haven’t been up to snuff in recent years. The sand traps are in horrible condition, the aeration of the greens is very poor compared to other courses. Slow play is not monitored like it should be. The rates are over priced for the course conditions. I still plan on playing there periodically but I hope it turns around for the better like it used to be.

I’ve played this course a couple times. Lots of terrain so you have to enjoy a hilly course. Wonderful views. The staff was mostly great but the Marshall had a little too much caffeine that morning. Stopped on the turn and was told to hurry up or be left behind. Dude, it’s the turn. People stop for things. Otherwise the crew was great. Some of the tee boxes were closer to sand bunkers. Fixing those tee boxes will go a long way to improve the course. Still. It’s a great course and I’d recommend it.

I like the course. I wished they had said the greens had been aerated last week.

I wish they had posted that they punched the greens last week.

I know they have to do this but not knowing this ahead of time would have been helpful.

I would suggest waiting til June when the greens recover.

Hard track but fun.

This course is beautiful, the location is beautiful, the layout is wonderful, the staff is super nice. But it never seems to be in a condition that you expect. Fairways were hard and lacking grass, while other similar courses already have nice lush fairways. This has been the case all three times that I have played the course in the last two years.

Greens were being aerated so can’t comment about their conditions.

If they can get fairways to be similar to a nice resort course then this place would be 5 star.

In 18 holes I hit the driver 4 holes. Teeing off on LONG par 4s and 5s with 6 irons and 5 irons to avoid hitting in the abyss is not fun at all. The course has great fairways, AMAAZING greens, but the layout is AWFUL. It’s not fun.

This is one of the better condition courses I play. Even with the rain it was still decent. Only gripe is l how dang tough the course is. Two feet farther to the left than normal on your drive?? Down into the woods it goes!! Putt just a tad harder than you should have? Into the creek with your ball!!

This is a mountain course and it comes with all the challenges that environment brings. From course maintenance and the player. Most holes have at lest one blind shot, discounting the par 3's. The beauty surrounding the course makes it pretty. Overall - the course is not fair.

Greens were fast. Pace of play 4.2 hrs.. Some tee boxes need new grass. A good layout.

The course has tough uphill approach shots with limited overall views of the pin placement . Also ,

I would like to see the fairways softer so that ball roll out would not either penalize you or make the holes shorter than designed .

Overall a good challenge and fun course to play !

Played this code for the first time and it was great. Arrived early and had breakfast before. Food was amazing. Staff was great and plate was hefty. Driving range was decent. Kinda expected for this time of year. Choose shape was good. Not green grass weather but want alot of dirt areas. Greens were in good shape. Place of play was great until we came up on a husband and wife duo. Wasn’t extremely slow but it was two of them and four of us. All in all, great layout, tough and challenging course.

The course should be really good in a couple of weeks when the fairways fill in completely. Thin lies presented major challenges. The greens rolled well but didn't hold shots well, as the dryness caused huge landing bounces. Beautiful scenery on every hole made it worth the trip, though.

Would have been a 5 star review had there been a marshal out on the course, as we were held up by the 4 ball in front of us on the front 9 having to wait to play every shot. We stopped for some refreshments after 9 holes and then played the back 9 without any delay.

The fairways were still suffering from the cold weather, but they will be back to normal soon, the greens were pretty good considering it's still March.

Basics:

New to this site, but im an average golfer and dont mind an occassional breakfast ball if there isnt anyone behind me.

My tee time: 3:10pm

I would say that this course is arguably one of the slowest paces of play I have ever seen. From the conditions of the fareways, unrepared divots, and the patchy greens (Hole 13s might as well have a bunker 6 feet inside the front of the green).

Staff was friendly to start but non-existent on the course and the cart girl carries very limited amounts and brands.

Course Layout was wierd and the carts could barely make it up the paths in some areas due to lack of concrete, broken concrete, or unnessasary incline.

I was a solo golfer so my pace is different from a foursome and through the first 3 holes the one group ahead of me allowed me to play through. Nice guys.

On hole 5 I joined in on a foursome (their tee was at 2:30pm) for some guys that offered since they had only 3. For the rest of the front 9, we had amazing pace and were able to relax through it.

On hole 9 is when we caught up to the group in front of us, and to say they were slow was an understatement. We were the 2nd group stuck behind them. Staff was called due to their lack of willingness to let other groups play through and their unwillingness to pick up the pace instead of taking multiple shots at each hole position.

I unfortunately didnt even finish my round and stopped at hole 13, still stuck behind the same group. That was at 7pm.

When I arrived at the clubhouse to again let them know of the slow up, i found all of the staff to be missing. There was nobody at the cart return, clubhouse or pro-shop.

Will not be back.
