Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Used to be a nice course
I was a member of this course 15 years ago when it bloomed with flowers and was manicured perfectly. Well that is not the condition now. All dried out from weather. Some holes that were under water earlier were never fixed. Bushes and trees and all ground maintenance not kept up. Clubhouse not kept up. Locker rooms dirty. Understaffed. I suspect the weather has to do with some of the course faults but the trees and brush and general area have not been kept up at all. One person was there in the morning and he was getting carts , checking people in and just about doing everything. He was very professional and friendly. He deserves double pay for all he was doing.
Cranes Landing
1st timer player, but Cart paths are poorly marked, making driving from green to tee difficult. Played one hole out of order.
150 yard markers (striped stake) weren’t to be seen on multiple par 4 or par 5 holes. 50 & 100 discs in fairway are useless as they’re too small to be easily located.
Very fast greens
This is a short but very challenging course with ultra fast greens. On some greens a light touch of the putter results in a 40 foot roll.
I have never been to a place that has left the club house unattended. Also the cours was wet and yet they just added more water to make it a mud pit in some places. This course has the potential to be great but needs new management to get there.
wet but fun
Course is interesting and challenging. conditions were rainy . The course could certainly use some maintenance.
The clubhouse was pretty much closed due to Covid.
Course isn’t nearly what it used to be
I played this course 3x earlier when I was a teenager and it wasn’t nearly as manicured as it was 10-12 years ago. Used to have a country club type feel. I was very disappointed in the course as were the other 2 that played with me. Unfortunate, because it’s close by to where I live. Won’t be playing anymore.
Underwhelmed at best.
I was hoping for a nicely manicured course that was well taken care of. I suppose my expectations were high due to the location of the course in the norther burbs of Chicago which are home to some beautiful courses. However some of the fairways were just massacred and not fixed and several of the tee boxes were a disaster and just filled with crabgrass growing, not your usual tee box care.
The staff was awesome, very friendly, and accommodating. Our cart was not charged properly the night before so by the 11th hole it just wasn't moving properly. Called the shop from fairway and they brought a new cart as we were walking off the 11th green. Most likely would not play again this year. Maybe next year deending on maintenance.
5 1/2 hour round not worth the money
When we arrived we were told there was a slight delay no more than a few minutes, wound up being 30 minutes. Three groups on every hole throughout the entire round. Our cart wouldn’t go over two or three miles an hour and we got stuck multiple times in the terrible fairways. Called the pro shop twice with no answer. When we got back in after our round the cart attendant was talking to two other groups about
their cart troubles. Overall terrible experience we had a noon tee time and finished well after 5:30pm.
