Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

Expected better for a Naperville course
- printer paper scorecards
- dirty carts
- dead trees all over
- difficult course (lots of water, plenty of bunkers)
Course was in great shape
Had an inch of rain the night before, but the course held up well. It was "carts in the rough only", but that was to be expected. My partner and I scooted around the course in 3.5 hours which is great.
The course has a nice variety of holes and plenty of water which makes it challenging. Senior rate is now $28, but the round only cost $25 thru Golf Now (including cart.
Great Place To Play A Round
Tamarack is in great condition this year, I plan on going back and play again real soon.
Excellent Ciurse
Challenging but very fair, the best public course in Naperville. Greens are in great shape and the pace of play is under 4 hours during the weekdays.
Overall Good
It has been a few years since I played
Tamarack and found the course was in good condition. The bunkers were much better than the last time I played there. Greens were a little slow but in good shape. Had a Hot Deal on GN so the price was right. Course reminds you of a Midwest version of Florida, fair amount of water running the length or close to the length of a hole, but the landing areas a generous.
Better Shape
The course was in much better shape then it was the last time I played there. (April 2014) Very friendly people. Will play here again.
Bang for your buck
Wonderful course for the prices, a few slow groups that caused 3 group back up on some holes. No ranger to promote quicker pace. But otherwise great course will be back. Remember tee it forward
Somewhat short holes - but very misleading
When I first looked at the scorecard, I thought this was going to be a cake walk - short and straight, only one long par 4. easy right?
Not so much. This time of year the morning grass is wet, and the ground is hard, making ball striking a little tricky. The greens are very closely guarded by lots of big bunkers and the hole locations are TIGHT!
There is a creek that runs through what seems like every hole, and if you're not choosing your clubs wisely, you're bound to end up in the drink.
Course is meticulously maintained, and the clubhouse is well appointed. Lots of options in tees for all walks of player.
There are a couple of holes and tee boxes that could use a little love (particularly the 18th fairway) but I trust they will be fixed.
The only complaint I have about this course is the lack of directional signs. There is almost nothing to guide you to the next hole, and often paths go two ways and theres a tee box in each direction. I was headed to 12, and went right instead of left off the green on 11 (again, how was I to know) and ended up prematurely teeing off on 15. Luckily I was out there alone, so it was easy to get my ball and search out the correct location.... it took a few minutes to find.
If they can fix this, Tamarack may just be the best deal around!
good value for your money
A very challenging golf course when it gets windy.Dont forget to bring extra bag of patience & discipline on the tee boxes...Accuracy is a must to play this course but then easy to break 80's if you keep the driver in some of the holes.Hit 'em well..
Facilities and course
Course was great, recomend bar area need serous updating so players can mingle VS running home after the game
Tamarack review / excellent value
My friends and I were very impressed with the conditions of the course. The greens rolled true and the course is quite challenging with a lot of water. We enjoyed our day and plan on returning again.
Very nice layout, back nine extremely challenging
Overall, a really good course and great value. A few improvements can be made. Tee boxes were in need of maintenance. Bunkers were left unraked by multiple players during the day. Adding a course ranger or assistant to monitor play during the day could improve players' responsibility to maintain playing conditions.
Better than average
Priced. Right. Well worth it.course well maintained
Too much sand!
Beautiful but deadly for we "18 handicappers!" I had one of those days when I wandered into too many bunkers and after a long winter, that part of the game clearly needs work.
good value for the price
Tee time was 3:08 on a Tuesday and we were basically alone. So our pace was as fast as we could play. Lots of good traps and water. Not much elevation variations or difficult rough. Right in a neighborhood so close proximity to streets and homes. Most fairways were straight. Said 6000+ yards but felt shorter. It was May 19th when I played but there were way too many dandelions.
Great value for $35
Course is in decent condition all things considered, but there were dandelions everywhere. That was a little off puting. Also we waited on every single shot. From the 1st tee, to the approach on 18. Slooooow.
Get a ranger and starter
I live near this course and wanted to enjoy a morning round as a single, no matter if I was paired up or not. I had an 845 tee time which wasn't honored. I got bumped to 853 which was not a problem. The pair I was grouped with never showed so I was asked to wait another 40 mins to tee off which I declined. I went off as a single. There was no starter, no ranger on the course to keep play at a decent pace. 4 hours into my round I was not even to the 15th tee box, with 3 foursomes ahead of me. This I find unacceptable. I guess I am spoiled by Catigny and Prairie Landing but I feel a round on a morning as a single should not take over 5 hours. I will not ever go back and play this course.
It HAD a good reputation
I was recommended this course by a few people and have heard of it quite a few times in the past as a nice course. Maybe courses like mill creek and prairie landing have spoiled me but this course was in pretty rough shape. No way to repair divots on the tea boxes so they are pretty hacked up. Cart path needs a lot of work in some places and there's a few street crossings to make to get around the course.
On the good side of things, the overall layout was nice, the greens on some holes were protected by bunkers which made an approach shot a challenge.
Overall, not a bad course but the way people have talked about it in the past made it seem it used to be a lot better. It certainly had the potential to be a really nice course.
