Mission Hills Club
About
Mission Hills Club in Northbrook opened in 1926 and over the years it has become a local favorite. The championship golf course measures to 2,897 yards from the back tees. Although it may seem relatively short by modern standards, the layout is spread across more than 130 acres of rolling woodlands that provide a spacious feel. Mature trees tightly line the fairways and there are several holes where water comes into play. This seemingly mild golf course is tougher than it first appears. It will test both your accuracy and course-management skills. Mission Hills Country Club's finishing hole is a demanding par 4 that features the most difficult green to putt with a lake to the left and sand bunkers all along the right. You'll want to keep your approach below the hole when you attempt to tackle the green.

Course needs maintenance
Greens were OK. Tee boxes and fairways were in great need of maintenance. Many divots on the fairways and the Tee boxes were all chewed up.
Misson Hills is an OK golf course
This course was probably something in the 70's and 80's. It is Ok if you are not looking for a course that is not really that special. Was nice to play and pace was good. Thank You Mission Hills for the opportunity to play.
Great course with little play
They are transitioning to semi-private, and are not great at customer service. They need some training and a little improved maintenance, but it is a great little course with some nice holes. Don't need driver a lot...
Course was in great shape and challenging. Great value!
Course was in great shape and challenging. Great value! No beverage cart or water on the course on a hot day was a problem.
Course was well maintain with water springlers going the whole time....too much!
Great course for the value $39, but no starter, beverage cart person, and no one on the course. Well maintained-very green.
Too far to travel to from downtown Chicago....too much traffic!
Tight well maintained little course.
Well maintained, great fairways and greens. Bunkers were very hard, some edges overgrown. Poor signage could lead to slower rounds. We passed a slow twosome on four and finished in 3:25 . A pleasant weekday round
Needs care....
My first time playing at Mission Hills. It has been a private course for many years and recently open to public. It definitely has a retirement home feel to it.
The best part of this course is the green. Soft and well maintained. Fairway is descent. Miss left or right, means trouble. The course is narrow with lots of trees.
It's definitely not worth the price. At most this course rate should be $30 for 18 not $54/$39. I wouldn't recommend this course; unfortunately I would not be returning to play at Mission Hills.
OK, fast twilight play
Thursday afternoon 4:45 twilight round - VERY fast, course relatively deserted. Greens OK, don't roll particularly true. Pretty short course, but fine value at $30.
Challenging but not too difficult for a 3-4 time per year golfer. Enough hazards to keep it interesting.
Enough water and woods to make for diverse holes. Need better signage and direction to holes as it winds through the condo complex. Would have been nice to have GPS on the cart or better yardage markers on the course as it was difficult to determine distance to the hole.
Narrow Course
The course is Narrow and the yardages are not marked well, i guess it being a private course the members have their own yardage books. The course is maintained well but the cart paths need attention and no beverage cart or ranger during the week.
do not like the layout
the golf course is a short one. The biggest problem I have with this golf course is the layout. It feels like they squeeze a 18 holes in a 9 holes lot. no enjoyable view. will not come back although the condition was not bad.
Short but challenging track. Rough devours balls.
Short layout, but challenging. Rough is thick and smothers balls. Short iron play is critical.
Short but challenging layout. Rough eats balls.
Short challenging layout. Tough rough. Short iron play is critical.
Great course!
The course is not long but is interesting and hard to play. I would chose challenging and narrow fairways to long but wide open any day. Well kept course with friendly staff. The only bad thing was no water on the course and I didn't see the beverage cart except when we made the turn.
Could be a better experience.
Pros-well maintained course
-difficult holes
Cons- Lazy gate security
- Poor signage for general accommodations (I.e. bag drop, bar, pro shop
-No maps of course other than on the hole sign
- confusing course to drive a cart
-holes on top of each other (3 different foursome all had a ball on the same fairway).
Mission Hills
course looks better on the computer than in person the traps were rocky, greens were very inconsistent. overall the course deal I played ($40) was to say the least overpriced by probably 20 bucks.
old school
The front 9 is likely the narrowest I've ever played in the 30+ years I've been golfing. A ton of tree trouble and lots of blind shots. 3W off the tee was the order of the day. I'm giving this course an extra star because of how nice the greens were...they were in fantastic shape and really rolled nicely.
However, be warned that the rough is horrendous - stay out of it. Also, the cart paths need to be redone - they're awful. This course and the clubhouse has a very old feel and layout...a very 1940s kind of vibe which isn't really my thing. As others have noted, the members at this formerly private course can make you feel like an outsider, but it's a course worth checking out - especially if you hit it straight.
nice greens, poor layout, traps, rough
too short for normal distance hitters, traps need some work with plants growing in them. Rough was way to long. Minus the greens and fairways the place needs some work.
Great experience
Glad I got to play this little gem. Knew it existed but never got to play until they recently offered rounds to the public. This is a very well kept course. Greens and fairways were immaculate. Rough was deep and challenging. Greens are elevated for the most part, making sticking your approach shot all the more important. Very tight course. If you're not accurate you could shoot high. Glad I avoided my driver off the tee box on the back 9, helped me score a lot better. Very nice little course.
Tee boxes & fairways in good shape. Rough was long. Greens were extremely slow. Traps were dried out.
Tee boxes & fairways were in great shape throughout the course. The rough was long, which added for some extra difficulty hitting the green on an approach shot. The sand traps were like hitting out of dirt. A member told me that himself and most other members have resorted to putting out of bunkers because they are so dry and the bunkers have no lip. In addition, the greens were really slow and the grass was long. There was no smooth roll to the hole, the ball bounced through the long grass.
Overall, good value for the course ($44 through GolfNow w/ cart), but I will not be back for awhile.
