Mission Hills Club
About
Mission Hills Club in Northbrook opened in 1926 and over the years it has become a local favorite. The championship golf course measures to 2,897 yards from the back tees. Although it may seem relatively short by modern standards, the layout is spread across more than 130 acres of rolling woodlands that provide a spacious feel. Mature trees tightly line the fairways and there are several holes where water comes into play. This seemingly mild golf course is tougher than it first appears. It will test both your accuracy and course-management skills. Mission Hills Country Club's finishing hole is a demanding par 4 that features the most difficult green to putt with a lake to the left and sand bunkers all along the right. You'll want to keep your approach below the hole when you attempt to tackle the green.

Great condition, but other serious issues.
First of all, tough to beat for $29 on a Saturday morning. But, there's always a reason for cheap tee times. We ended up playing in just under 5 hours, which is WAY too long, especially for a Saturday morning. What irked me is that there was no ranger out there moving people along. That is just unacceptable in my opinion. Also, the foursome in front of us had two guys wearing jeans, which is clearly forbidden according to their website. Just seems like they'll let anyone play this course. You may not see this as a big deal, but typically a guy golfing in jeans is going to grind the course to a halt. Yes it's a stereotype, but it is generally true. My round there confirmed it.
Nice Course
The owner came out told us if we have any problems to let him know. I thought that was a nice touch
good fair for course
fair way green and most condition very good i like this course
i recomend this course.
Nice greens but the pace of play was horrendous! Course definitely needed a ranger on this day!

old style course , very narrow fairways, tee boxes are not level
The greens, fairways and sand traps are in fine condition.
Many tee boxes are not level. The ball is above you feet on many holes.
The fairways narrow to 10-20 yards wide in many landing areas. It is hard to keep the ball in the short grass with narrow fairways
I think the slow play could be due to people searching for balls due to poor shorts.
Not an easy course even though it is short. I think it plays true to its slope rating
Nice course, could use some TLC
Greens and Fairways are in excellent condition, which I think is the most important thing to rate a course on. If you don't like looking at houses, you won't like this. It's very tight and weaves through lots of condominiums.
It looks like they are low on money for maintenance. The cart paths could use some immediate attention, as could the trees. It looks as though they haven't had the trees trimmed in at least a couple of years.
Overall a very interesting course and a great value.
This course fair and challenging.
Very well maintained greens are slippery but true.It winds in and out of condos but easy to stay in play.Overall I would play it again .
Short, Tight, Well Maintained, Minimal Practice Facilities
Nicely conditioned, the course itself is fairly pretty - though it is in the midst of townhomes/condos lining many holes (some of my playing companions don't care for having so much private property surrounding a course). Course has 4 longish holes, the rest are shorter than average - and this is from the back tees. Most holes are very tight driving holes - plenty of OB and homes to hit. Small putting green and only a couple nets to hit into for your warm-up. GolfNow occasionally has inexpensive rounds offered. If you can get a deal, and are just looking for a quick round on a pretty course, then this course is a good value.
narrow,run down course
Great deal for 18 holes from golf now but as far as the course goes not sure I would play here again.
The course is short with very narrow fairways and every hole is lined with condo buildings and pools. It wouldn't be so bad but the place looked very run down and in need of maintenance. Many dead trees, ponds filled with algae and sand traps filled with dirt and old sand. We played on a Sunday afternoon, never saw a beer cart or a ranger to keep people moving. Front nine played at a good pace but at the turn a twosome appeared out of nowhere in front of us and then play backed up to a crawl. Finally after waiting on every hole for 5-10 min we left.
Don't think I will go back.
The course had several stumps from trees that became a hazzard to the carts.
What started as a surprisingly nice day at a well maintained course turned into our worse experience ever. On the 8th hole, I went to recover a bad second drive to the left side of the fairway and after driving by in our carts to pick up the ball, we attempted to come back onto the 8th fairway and hit a 10 inch high tree stump. My wife hit her tailbone and i hurt my left shoulder from the collision with the stump. I call the office and they brought out another cart. The old cart experienced damage to the gear housing and was inoperable. When we were coming down the 9th hole, the manager approached us to ask us for our drivers license, insurance card, credit card and wanted us to pay for the damages. Not one word of concern for our safety, not one word to ask if we were ok, not an apology from the owner. All they were concerned about was if I was going to pay for the damages. After a more moments on the phone with the owner, we drove out to the damaged cart and only then did we notice more than 10 other tree stumps, all above 8-12 inches above the ground, not marked as hazards, right off the cart path, in the middle of the course and definitely in harms way. This was only between the 4th and 8th hole. Not only did we not finish our round, we experience physical trauma, our day was ruined, and we were asked to pay for the damages. At this point, I'm not sure how to pursue this. My lawyer may be getting involved. Needless to say, I feel the course owners did not protect the players by leaving so many tree stumps out in plain areas where, we as the unlikely victims, collided with one. I would play this course again because of the short and tight fairways, it's a challenging layout, but definitely not in it's current condition with so many tree stump hazards in harms way.
Great course
The course is tough to fet around as it goes around houses. Overall, well maintained and was a great day for golf!
A hidden gem
I have played this course a few times since it has been open to the public and have enjoyed it more and more with each round. The course requires accuracy as most the holes are either tree lined or have OB right or left. There is a nice balance of short and long holes. It is very well maintained and is a great challenge and a great deal. I also bumped into the new owner Tony, he is a great guy. Looking forward to coming back again soon. Would recommend this course to anyone.
The fairways and greens where good but everything else needs help.
The course could be a real nice if they take care of it. Club house need to be knocked down and rebuilt.
Well Maintained greens and fairways!
Very narrow fairways on 16 out of 18 holes making it difficult to drive the ball! Course is pretty small overall so its normal to see other peoples balls in play on your fairway!
For the price I paid, this was steal!!!!
The Golfnow Hot Tee Time, last minute, was amazing. I've paid more to hit a bucket of range balls. This was awesome - thanks golfnow!
The course was pretty good. Had I paid $100, I would not have been happy. Having paid much less, I liked it. The layout was challenging. The conditions were good. Pace was OK. I would DEFINITELY go back there.
Too Spread Out
This course is well maintained, but it is a difficult course to navigate and find the other holes.
Fairways and greens are maintained well, bunkers need some work
Short and narrow on many holes, with the exception of maybe 4 holes leave the driver in the bag.
Mission Hills, Hello Mission Control……….
Staff unfriendly, course is tired. Poor maintenance.
