Orchard Valley
I was very impressed with the condition of the course. Had a very enjoyable round and played in under 4 hours. I will definitely return for more play this summer.
Too bad about those greens!
I like the course. I feel like I went somewhere special when I play there. Many impressive views. It's too bad that the greens took such a beating. I play quite a bit and it looks like most courses in the Chicago area are dealing with the same problems. Bad winter.
Not ready yet
There were two temporary greens, which is fine, they notified us after we made our reservation discounted the round $6 and gave of us a lunch. The problem that caused me to rate the course lower is that there were at minimum a handful of other greens that were rough at best. At this time the price is far to high for the condition
Thnaks for your feedback. We are excited for the new season and are confident we will be back to our standards in 2015!
Always fun course
We always enjoy this course. Too bad the greens were in such bad shape. Otherwise course us always a good deal.
greens were terrible
Overall great course to play at but the greens Were in horrible condition..
They should have stated that somewhere before we booked. .costed me several chances at par
Severe Winter Casualty
Course was not in good condition, probably due to harsh winter. Most greens had large browned out areas. Tees and fairways not too bad. Carts paths need repair.
Thank you for your feedback, and we apologize that course conditions impacted your experience at Orchard Valley. Although we experienced some issues in the beginning part of last season, the turf recovered nicely into the latter half of the summer and into the fall. We are excited to see warmer weather, and hope to see you again soon at Orchard Valley.
Greens are in very poor condition
The extended winter has been very hard on most of the greens. I felt the staff should have advised us of these poor greens before we checked in. While some greens had a third or a half still in good condition, the cups were still placed in the areas in poor condition. They should repair/replace the greens before allowing any further play.
We shut down our front nine until June to help with the recovery process. Although we experienced some issues in the beginning part of last season, the turf recovered nicely into the latter half of the summer and into the fall.
We are excited to see warmer weather, and hope to see you again soon at Orchard Valley.
Embarrassment
This used to be one of the finest courses in Chicagoland . Now it rates as one of the worst. Greens are absolutely terrible. Fairways have never had divots filled, ball marks everywhere on the greens. Not sure this track will ever recover.

We are working with our guests to help us with divots and ball marks by having extra seed bottles placed throughout most of our landing areas around the course.
Looking foward to a great 2015!
Greens are very bad.
Greens are all damaged from the winter which is expected, but don't charge $45.00 pp in April when the condition is that bad.

OverRated
How this course is ranked over Cantigny and Harborside International is beyond me. Leads me to believe that either people are too cordial, or just retardem. Apologies for the digression, lets get started. Do not play this course on a weekend bc you will be out there over 5 hours; no rangers, no time enforcement. The course itself is in poor shape; poor tee boxes, poor greens. They dropped the ball last year, and it looks like its going to continue this year. Playing here with a hot deal on a weekday is what I recommend if you want to try it out, but I guarantee you will agree with me after the round as to what is all the hype about??? I'm top 500, I know what I'm talking about.
Thanks for your review.
We suffered some setbacks due to the harsh winter of 2013-14, and worked very hard all season to try and recover. We are looking foward to a great 2015. We also are going to be implementing "speed slot" tee times on busier days enforcing our pace of play.
We are sorry for your bad experience and are excited for 2015!
Good course to play for spring discount
Greens not good. Lost my clubs on the 18th hole. Nobody has turned in. Be careful with your clubs.
Thanks for your review.
We suffered some setbacks in 2014 due to the harsh winter, and had some of our greens not up to our standards. We worked all season to try and get them back into shape for 2015.
Stnard public course
Started with a frost delay...to be expected this time of year. We were the first group out, so set the pace. You have to be at OV, otherwise it is a very slow round. There is no sand in the traps. Greens are in aweful shape.
Thanks for your review. Several greens suffered winterkill last year and we worked all season to get them back into shape for 2015. We also started a complete renovation of our sandtraps in 2014 and will continue this process this year.
Nice design with a lot of water and well placed fairway bunkers.
Bring extra balls for some forced carries over water. Best four finishing hole stretch I've ever played. From tips; 3 par fours under 350 yds demand well placed tee shots; 2 other par fours over 450 yds.
Golf in Novemeber
This was my first time playing at Orchard Valley Golf Course. Playing this late in the season I was expecting the course to be in worse condition, I was highly surprised. The course had received rain the past two days and was still in great condition. I will be more than happy to play there again next season.
Great course. On of the best in the area
My favorite. Variety of holes. Always in good condition.
Very Challenging!
Very challenging course! Always seems to be windy at Orchard Valley which plays into the difficulty. Water plays a big role in many of the holes and the holes that didn't have water, we'll LENGTH! Orchard Valley in my opinion has one of the toughest par fours in the Chicago area. Hole number 9 is a long par 4 which usually plays into the wind...TOUGH!! Greens are fast and true!! Love it!!
One of the best muni's Ihave played
Nice ,fair golf course.Plenty of trouble to hold your attention.
Par 3's are aperfect fit for this course.Only draw back was course was recently aerated.
Nice, but way, way too crowded!
Course is priced right, is in pretty decent shape, but they pack em in here. We had a five hour round, with waits on 75% of the tee boxes. Foursome behind us was waiting at our tee box with us on several holes. Never saw a ranger on the course, so they obviuosly want your greens fees, but then they do not monitor the pace of play at all. As they say, you get what you pay for.
On the bright side, starter was friendly and the bar/restauant is great. Good beer selection, friendly staff, and the food was very good. We almost forgot about the five hour round!
If the pace of play was better, this would be a much better experience. Thank goodness the 19th hole was so nice.
A very nice layout
Beautiful day, nice track, and course in pretty good shape for almost Oct. in Illinois. Greens were average at best and it played slow with it being such a nice day(a lot of players on the course) but O V is such a nice place to play.
Great track with a mix of challenging holes accentuated by great sight lines including water, marsh and plenty of sand
Orchard Valley is a challenging course layout with bent grass fairways and fast greens. The course is showing the effects of a long season: plenty of sand filled divots in the fairways penalizing good drives when your ball settles in below the grass level, greens with plenty of ball marks which produce bouncing rolls and sand traps littered with large gravel and some stones brought out by recent rains. Some traps are crusty and in need of fresh sand. Tee boxes were recently aerated. Recommend confirming status of green aeration before playing in the Fall.
Thanks for your feedback. You are correct - several courses in the area took a hit last year and it was a shame. We worked extremely hard all season to have our standards back in place for 2015. We welcome you back to give us a try this year!
