Bartlett Hills Golf Club
About
Bartlett Hills Golf Club has been a favorite Chicagoland golf destination since it first opened in 1929. To keep the layout up to modern standards, it has undergone many changes over the years but it still has the same classic character. At 6,463 yards from the back tees, this traditional layout might not be long but it still provides a fair test. Rather than distance, the golf course demands smart play and accurate shot placement thanks to narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky doglegs. You might not have many chances to use your driver but you'll definitely get some iron practice. There isn't too much trouble off of the tees at Bartlett Hills G.C. But greenside you'll be faced with nearly 30 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards come into play on seven holes, which include some forced carries.

Beautiful views
Bartlett has great mature trees and elevated tees as well as some tight fairways. Hitting a straight ball works to your advantage but it is forgiving at times. Great courses.
classic old course
Course was in great shape, although because of all the rain chicago has experiencd the rough was thick and it was hard to find your ball. They finally have a combo tee of white and red for us seniors(5600 yds). The regular tees are too long for us short hitters.Lots of old trees for shade.Hard to walk.As the name implies.lots of hills.Bring a gps it is hard to find yardage markers. Not worth a long trip, but good for us locals.
Overall a great day in Bartlett
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Got brand new golf carts. Very comfortable. Pace was going very well for a very hot day. The greens and fairway were in excellent condition. I would highly recommend this golf course.
Convenient
Convenient location for our group. We had to wait on almost every hole from start to finish. After very little play in the A M, three groups were schedule before us. The 1st 2 groups showed up late, starting us off behind schedule and it never got better. It would have been nice to let us off early, we were there and ready.
Good and Bad
Bartlett Hills has some fun holes, and tricky greens. That being said, if you are not the first tee-time out; play somewhere else. The course is barely over 6000 yards, and it took my 3-sum 5 hours and 15 minutes to finish. I literally waited no less (and probably more) than 10 minutes per shot. The real icing on the cake though was driving up to the group in front of me, and having to ask them to kindly give me my ball back at least 5 or 6 times groupfront of me at least 5 or 6 times because these individuals were stealing every ball they could get their hands on our there (including my ball all the time). If I am ever the first tee time out, I will play again; however, anything else just save yourself the frustration.
Bartlett Hills Review
Course was not bad. In good condition and challenging.
Slow Play on a Hot Day
First time playing Barlett Hills and I must say very impressed with the layout of the course. Great variety of holes. Unfortunately we chose to play on the hottest day of the year and while the starter indicated pace was 2:05 for the first nine, it took 2:45 for the front 9 and 5:15 overall. Certainly the heat had something to do with it and the Rangers were doing their best to keep players moving along but waiting 10 minutes on each tee was just brutal. Will definitely be back on more comfortable day.
Nice course and conditions
Great weather contributed to an overall great day of golf. Seemed like a lot of local residents were out which should say something about them returning for more. Would play again sometime soon.
The course was cart path only, which takes away most of the enjoyment of playing. I have played the course many times, and enjoy playing the course very much.
Upper level muni in the northwest suburbs
I played Bartlett Hills for the first time despite having grown up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the course. There are a lot of big old trees framing the fairways, and a nice mix of challenging and forgiving holes. The par 5's are not very long and often times reachable in two. The course condition was great despite the dry conditions the Chicago area has seen over the last several weeks.
I would definitely recommend playing this course if you are near the northwest suburbs.
