Bartlett Hills Golf Club
About
Bartlett Hills Golf Club has been a favorite Chicagoland golf destination since it first opened in 1929. To keep the layout up to modern standards, it has undergone many changes over the years but it still has the same classic character. At 6,463 yards from the back tees, this traditional layout might not be long but it still provides a fair test. Rather than distance, the golf course demands smart play and accurate shot placement thanks to narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky doglegs. You might not have many chances to use your driver but you'll definitely get some iron practice. There isn't too much trouble off of the tees at Bartlett Hills G.C. But greenside you'll be faced with nearly 30 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards come into play on seven holes, which include some forced carries.

Challenging Prestine Condition Course
My first time playing this course and I was extremely impressed. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in great condition. Course places challenging overall, which is a good thing! The hole setup along with the hills and bunkers on the course make for a fun round and experience. My pace of play rating occurred due to the mixed group ahead of us which included grand parents and their grand daughter. Front 9 took us nearly 2.5 hours to complete. The back 9 we were free of the individuals ahead of us and completed it in 1.5 hours. Would recommend individuals to play this course, I will be back again!
Updated Review
I deleted my original 1 star review and changing to 3 stars as the head pro at this course reached out to me and made it right.
My main complaint was the rough. Rough off the fairway is fine but off the green, it didn't look maintained.
Rough is Rough!!!
Played on a perfect day!
Course was in beautiful shape...tees, fairways and greens...all were excellent!!
The rough...well...the U.S. Open would be proud ;) The rough is long...and thick...extremely long and thick...I'm not sure if that's the way they keep it all season long (and it won't keep us from going back), but it does make it difficult for even the best of players to find balls one foot off the fairway or greens (I hit 8 of 14 fairways off the tee...3 of the other 6 drives hit the fairway and rolled into the rough...maybe a foot or two...found one pretty quickly, one took almost 5 minutes to find...literally 6" into the rough...and one is still somewhere on the course). Again, the course is in beautiful shape and we will be back, but just be aware of the "ball eating rough!"
Nice muni course
Pretty much what you would expect with a nice Muni course.
Just a beginner
This was a great course for me. I am just a beginner and it has plenty of challenges. Couple of long holes that were nice.
Great shape considering 2" of rain day before
One of my local courses. Like to play, never get tired of it. Not too difficult, but has little things that challenge. Greens are fairly quick most of the time. Food and beverage service is less than most.
Forgiving yet challenging course
I enjoyed the view on many of the holes. With lots oh hills the course landscape added some challenges. For me probably the best thing about the course is the wideness of the fairways. Miss the fairway and the thick rough could bite ya.
Oldtime course in good shape
Traditional old time course, tree lined fairway, narrow on some holes, lots of elevations changes.
Good times
After playing many rounds at Bartlett hills this one was as enjoyable as the rest. Course was in good shape and greens were recently top dressed and quick! the course has a good variety or short and long holes and would recommend it to golfers of all levels.
Great shape for November
Course was in excellent shape, leaves were blown from the fairways & greens, greens were also in excellent condition, reading true & a little fast. Greens had not yet been perforated &sanded, like playing during the regular season.
Good "Local" course
$19 Hot Deal.
Course in good shape.
Plenty of elevation changes.
Bunkers had puddles.
Great day
Shot an 87 so that made a good course great today. Greens were in good shape and even the "rough" was not too long it was just right.
Out of the ordinary,.. I hope!!
I have played this course many times and it is one of my favorites.
Always well taken care of, always a challenge, and most of the time, always pretty fast. On this Sunday however there was an event with 3 or 4 groups of women that went off at 12:26. our group of 3 went off at about 12:46.
We quit at hole 11 at 3:48. There was a hole open between each group, which we saw as we drove in.
All of the ladies we passed smiled and waived as we went by apparently oblivious to the fact they had effectively wrecked the entire afternoon for anyone behind them.
This is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this at Bartlett, and hopefully the last. There were no Marshalls on the course at all so these groups seemed to have no idea of pace.
At one point the group we were behind took an hour and five minutes to play a par 4 and a par 3 and after teeing off on the next par 4, stopped the cart girl for 10 minutes in the fairway.
I know this is a public course and open to all comers, but little on course regulating would go a long way.
Good Round
I've played this course off and on for the last forty years. I've never seen the course in as good shape as it is this year. Tied my best round of the year with an 89. The staff was very friendly. Will be back again soon.
The fairways and greens are in great shape
A very challenging course. Not very long from the tips, however most fairways are tree-lined. If your tee shot is a bit off, you will find yourself punching out. The greens were rather large and considerably fast. put your approach shot close to avoid 3-putts.
This course exceeded all my expectations
Out of 20 or so different courses I played while working in the Chicago area this was the greatest and most fun I played! WE got paired with a father and son that were cool and laid back just like us. Everybody had a great sense of humor and even though it got stacked up at times we played through it and everyone on the course seemed like they were having fun. Which is very rare. I play all over the US and abroad and this course ranks among the best. The only thing I regret is that I didn't find it until the day before I was scheduled to leave. I loved this course. The only thing that I wish they offered that I noticed they didn't was that they need to let the cart girls offer sandwiches or hot dogs or something besides just chips and crackers. Overall great course though.
Nice Course
Hilly course that plays longer than the yardage on the card. Back nine plays tougher than the front, but you need to drive it straight here. A fun and challenging course that I will definitely go back to.
review of course
I thought the course was well manicured.very good shape.some of the rough around the greens were
Thick.the fairways were excellent.
Thanks jeff
Wide open
Very nice course, surroundings are great. This course has wide open fairways, which is great for me. Not an overly long course but very hilly which makes the shorter holes play longer. If you have yet to play here I would recommend it.
hilly sporty course
Course was in excellent condition.Greens were in great shape. No winter destruction.Fairways were cut short and they were firm.Wish they would upgrade their carts. No gps and not a lot of yardage markers.Overall a very enjoyable day.
