Bartlett Hills Golf Club
About
Bartlett Hills Golf Club has been a favorite Chicagoland golf destination since it first opened in 1929. To keep the layout up to modern standards, it has undergone many changes over the years but it still has the same classic character. At 6,463 yards from the back tees, this traditional layout might not be long but it still provides a fair test. Rather than distance, the golf course demands smart play and accurate shot placement thanks to narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky doglegs. You might not have many chances to use your driver but you'll definitely get some iron practice. There isn't too much trouble off of the tees at Bartlett Hills G.C. But greenside you'll be faced with nearly 30 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards come into play on seven holes, which include some forced carries.

Fun track
Really a hidden semi-gem. I do not review high. Too many mediocre 4 star courses. Staff friendly. Great clubhouse but way underutilized. Fun course. Challenging but playable for higher handicaps also. Conditions ok, but better in summer in past. Green conditions just ok, but very challenging slopes.
It has hills brother...and I like it@
I've only played it twice now but I have to say I'm sold. It's just fun from the first hole to the last. Considering it's early March I'm not the least bit concerned about conditions. We had snow last week and I'm playing golf! The color green was just beginning to pop in places and it was appropriately cart path only...very soft but not total mush either.
The greens are interestingly formed and can be a tricky read if you don't care to walk around. It appears that these hills are natural and that the designer kept them in play as much as possible.
I'm very much looking forward to returning again.
Nice work Bartlett!
Hi Eric6207790,
Thank you for your review and for choosing Bartlett Hills Golf Club. We are so happy to hear that you have so much fun when playing the course. We look forward to your return!
Bartlett Hills
I have played this course now four or five times, and it has been fantastic every single time that I have played it. I love the narrow fairways with the 40+ year old trees lining them. You get great golf play, as well as a beautiful course to enjoy. Every time I have played here my foursome and I did 18, and we were averaging around 4 hours with a quick pit stop at the half way house. I did play this course once where I walked and it can provide some challenges with the elevation changes, but overall it was still great. It is a great course and slightly hidden, which is nice since it keeps the pace of play faster than other courses. Overall this is a fantastic course and I would recommend this to anyone looking to challenge their abilities.
A nice course to play in the fall
This course is certainly great to play in the fall. We caught a great fall day. There are many trees on the course and I am sure it is very scenic with the fall leafs. I think we missed it by a week though.
The course was in great shape for this time of year!
The fall rates were very fair. Pace of play was very good considering the number of people out on a nice fall afternoon.
If there was any concern, it was the snack shop at the turn between 9 and 10. The person running the snack shop paid very little attention to our group. She was much more interested in the conversation she was having with another employee visitor in the back of the snack shop. I would plan to skip on the snack shop on your visit.
Great Time Golfing
Sunday November 1st, had a beautiful day. My two buddies and I found a steal on Golfnow.com for Bartlett Hills.
I hadn't played this course in probably 15 years. I was just a beginner at the time so I couldn't really remember what it was like.
My buddies had never played it before.
We were impressed.
Being a Sunday there were a couple times we had to wait for the foursome in front of us. It wasn't bad though.
Anyone we ran into was affable, whether if it was a workman at the course or a fellow golfer.
Were there leaves on the course? Yes. But it's fall, it's that time of the year. Leaves were sparse on the greens and that's the main thing.
Are the greens fast? Yes. Just know that going in.
It had rained pretty good the night before and that led to some inconsistency in the greens. That's fine.
This course has some very scenic views from the tee boxes. I took a couple pics that could easily be on a golf calendar.
This course has some challenges but my friends and I who are mid nineties players all shot under a hundred.
One of the guys we played with is pretty judgemental about golf courses. He will not play certain courses with the rest of the group because he hates them so much. When he said he liked Bartlett Hills, I knew it passed the test of being a good golf course.
Course was in great shape
I have played this course many times over the last five years and it is in great shape for this time of the season. Fairways and greens were in great shape. The sand traps were in poor condition and in need of maintenance.
Pace of play became an issue near the middle of the front nine for the rest of the round
Great shape
It was a lovely fall day , We were almost all by ourselves, Leaves were well taken care of .
It was wonderful
nice course tucked away Gem
Staff are friendly and helpful enjoyed talking to them.
Course had some nice elevation changes and some nice mature trees and was pretty scenic for IL suburbs.
I enjoyed the layout and the risk reward options.
The pace of play was enjoyable and halfway house nice.
will be making this a play every year course.
Barlett Hills - Nice course
Nice course and in very good condition (mid-Sept). Greens were quick and with plenty of break on them. OB comes into play quite often after the 7th hole, so be careful or your score with explode (assuming you play by the rules.) Obviously with a name like Bartlett Hills, the course has some hilly terrain, so a cart is not a bad idea for those people who haven't walked 18 holes in awhile. Bottom line, I'd love to golf it again... but I should make it soon before the leaves start falling.
nice lay out good good greens
good course hot deal was too god to pass up, the staff are always friendly
The earlier out the better
The course is great, probably my favorite in the northwest suburbs. Rate of play slows down significantly as the day goes on.
A Nice Community Course
Good people, fair course, great price! I have already suggested that my regular foursome visit.
Home town feel
With the maturity of the trees and the staff friendliness, I felt immediately at home and welcomed. THe course has a nostalgic feel to it. It is challenging enough but not too challenging to where you are frustrated. The fairways are a bit narrow on various holes but I loved the shade of the trees when I wasn't hitting out of them. :) Not much water on the course either. My only complaint is we only saw the cart girl twice on the front nine, not at all on the back and it was 95 degrees out there!!
Nice track
Nice place to play, great deals on golfnow.com well worth the greens fees. Greens were in great shape, tad on the slow siide, but overall course conditions excellent. Definitely gonna play again. Fun layout, lots of trees!
Bartlett hills
Course is in great shape.greens are fast.bring your A game for the greens
Disappointing
Got paired up with father teaching young daughter.
Over 5 and a half hours. Requested to wait and play later, course management very poor. Unfriendly staff as well. Not a good feeling, won't be going back. Did not have a good time at all.
Average
My buddy and I went out after work and teed off at 4:10. We told the starter we were fast players and despite the group coming in being on the ninth tee he still wouldn't send us off the back. We didn't finish the front nine until 6:55... Horribly slow (because of a league). After we hit the back nine we got to hole 12 by 7:15 and played through a group. Hole 13-18 only took us 40 minutes. Moral of the story, don't go Wednesday's after 3pm
Good day
Course was in good shape, played in under 4 hours, paired with fun guys, greens a little on the slow side but what do you expect with all the rain we've had!...very good day overall.
Bartlett Hills
Nice, old time style course. I know it's been wet, but the course is poorly maintained. Decent greens, although a bit small. Incredibly long rough with a lot of weeds. Drains poorly. A good value at the hot deal rate, but not really worthy a lot more than that.
Wet and Fun
Despite torrential rainstorms 2 days prior to playing, course was in decent shape. Will definitely go back.
Hi Jim5899246,
