Golfer Reviews
Ridiculously Overpriced
Very cool layout and location that I would probably recommend that everyone play once, but certain parts of the round will make you wonder why on earth you are paying almost $150. The course conditions were average (incredibly fast and well maintained greens, though). The cart paths are so disastrously ill-maintained that you literally feel concussed if you drive on them. You cannot keep a beverage in the cupholder. The paths are, quite literally, reminiscent of a war-torn third world country. It is embarrassing for a club of this caliber to put such little effort into maintenance.
Needs investment
The course layout, hole design, routing, etc is amazing and lived up to the recommendations. However the non course conditions are just plain bad. The cart paths are so bad that I had to walk after the 2nd hole. By bad lower back could not handle the unevenness, broken concrete, and potholes worse than any road in Illinois. Disappointing at best.
Nothing but scenery and well kept grass.
To the eye from afar the course looks great. We did a 6:30am tee time, and there were divots littering half of the course. Where there were no divots was nice, and the fringe was nothing short of gorgeous. However, the divots, tee off ranger, and cart path were all absolutely horrendous. I have never been on a course with a worse cart path! It was a nice layout, and view overall, however I certainly won’t be looking to return there for the $145 round per person!
Great Course
Great course in a great city always enjoy playing Harborside very well managed
The course was great except for the worst cart paths I ever encountered and insufficient sand in the traps.
Horrible cart paths
Starboard course has the Worst cart paths ever!
two water fountains on the entire course
Great course, bad cart paths
Course as always was in great shape. Needs some work on cart paths as some are really full of holes
Wonderful course
Course was in great shape with the exception of the cart paths which are atrocious. Fortunately, they are already in the process of replacing the,m
When is the cart restoration taking place?
Bruuuuutal cart paths. Some fairways were like
first cut rough. Always love the layout and conditions.
With all of the rain can expect the rough to be 5-6 inches deep. Stay in the fairways!
glad I had a Hotdeal. Will never pay $100-120
to play these courses.
Start the cart path project sooo. 30 years is enough time to install new paths.
Always love the greens, they didnt dissapoint.
Will come back after the renovations are complete.
Aging course
The grass on tee boxes, fairway, and greens are very well maintained. The roughs in this course have always been challenging but now more so because the roughs are not cut and maintained well. It is practically impossible to find your ball in that grass. Moreover the smaller sand bunkers are fine. Larger ones are very poorly maintained - see picture. Cart paths are full of potholes - worst I have seen of any course. Even if you go slow, you are getting bounced around, your clubs are rattling agains each other, and frankly after 3-4 holes of that, you stop driving on the cart path even if it says cart path only due to rain the previous day. Lastly the result, slow pace of play for everyone because every player spends extra time looking for their ball and driving slow on the obstacle course cart path. Save your time and money, go elsewhere.
The cart paths are one of the worst in Chicago. For the price of a round - you would think we’ll have decent cart paths - friends from out of town are shocked at the horrible state of the cart paths - played starboard yesterday
