Solid public course
This course gets a rough rep but the crew here does a great job maintaining the tees, greens and fairways. It’s pretty wide open too.
If you play at the right time you have a nice round. I love playing here because it’s a good 18 for the money.
Cons though: despite being basically on 63 ave beach… their bunkers are completely dirt. So they are terrible. Depending on your standards this shouldn’t ruin a day out there.
Amenity are weak and carts are rare after 10:30am. This course could print money if they put a halfway house, drink carts and had more carts in general. Great walk though.
Great Fathers Day
This was the first time I played golf with my son on Father’s Day. It was a great choice to play golf on this special day.
Great course for the money!
I was not expecting much out of a park district course, however, it was really maintained nicely. Troon always does a nice job on their courses, and it showed on this one. For the price paid for a Sunday morning round, you cant beat it. The sand isn't sand, but other than that, the course conditions were great.
Where is the cart girl
Need a cart girl. Use electronic payment for safety
Great course
I have been playing here since 2000. I love it. You can see a beautiful view of Lake Michigan from the putting green of hole nine.
Very nice historical course in Chi-Town!
located just 20 minutes from downtown, Jackson Park GC is a nice, though short, 18-hole layout in the middle of southside Chicago. While short, don't be fooled on some holes, there is a par-3 that is more than 200y and there is a par-5 that is over 550y. Easy to walk. Get some exercise. Go see Vivian and Kristy, who run the shop and outside operations, and are very helpful and friendly.
Home
I recently moved to the area and this is basically home base or my new home course. I love walking this course as it’s very easy to do. You can really feel the energy of being in the city too especially on #9,10 and 12 and 13. It’s not the longest course but has two back to back par 5’s. It’s been in excellent shape all summer especially the traps which is amazing for Chicago area courses. It has lots of trees and a water hole or two. It’s narrow in a few spots and occasionally you have to make a choice to not hit driver and use good course management. You can definitely come here and shoot for your personal best score and many holes offer great scoring opportunities.
Pretty good municipal course
Greens are the beat part of the course. Sand traps are dirt and not sand. Bunkers need to be totally redone.
Fairways are decent. If you are a new golfer or just want to get in a quick round to work on your game then its good for that given the price.
Im a 4 handicap and so its not a course I would play a lot.
Course operator here. Thanks for playing JP, and we appreciate your comments as we head into budgeting for next season and how we'll plan improvements. Hope to see you again soon.
