Fox Run Golf Links
About
Fox Run Golf Links opened in 1984 but over the past two years the course underwent a major renovation that made the layout both more challenging for serious players but also more forgiving for the recreational golfer. The multi-million-dollar renovation included enhancements to the hole layouts, redesigning the bunkers, installing a new irrigation system, and creating new practice and chipping areas. Water comes into play often throughout the golf course and you'll find elevation changes on nearly every green. The water holes will be especially tough if you have a tendency to slice the ball. Thanks to the varied layout, which includes some holes that are wide open and others that are more target-style golf, you will get the opportunity to work on different types of shots. Fox Run Golf Links is a challenging but fair test that players of all skill levels can enjoy.

Beautiful fairways
Beautiful course with a little more water than I like. Overall a great experience.
A nice course with plenty of hazards to grab your attention.
My impression of a golf course relies first and foremost on the quality of its greens. The greens of Fox Run were in excellent condition. So I was very satisfied with the greens. However, I can't say the same thing for the fairways. The fairways were in desperate need of cutting.
Many of the holes require straight shooting. What I mean by that is there is not a lot of room for bailing out on these holes. So either hit a good shot or face the consequences. I personally like that on a golf course.
The pace of play was very slow. I've encountered this a number of times when playing Fox Run. So if you're a fast player (which I am), expect to play at a slower pace than you're used to. I tolerated this because I received a great deal on GolfNow. And besides I like the golf course.
great course!
Never played this course before the renovations, so i have nothing to compare it too... but we thought this was a good course!
fox run
took 3hrs to play 9 holes.... if you play this course do so during the week or early on weekends. Pace of play very slow
Sunday GOlf
there's not any rangers available and the balls fly all over with beginners. We've all been there, but they need to yell FORE!
Course was in great shape and the greens were wonderful.
I was happy with the upkeep of the course and the entities of the golf course were great. On the other hand, the staff wasn't very friendly. I mean no one... They had a starter at on of the par 3 to make sure to wave the next group when we landed on the green but we had a group in front of us that were very slow. I did mention it to the starter and he said he would look into it. I believe he never did.
Decent course, fairways need attention
Greens were nice, some fun holes. GPS units were in carts (nice surprise).
Fairways need a lot of work. The fairway cut is anywhere from 1 - 3 inches (basically the first cut of rough, some spots even worse).
A great find. Very fun course, I'll definitely be back.
There are several very well designed holes on this course that make it a lot of fun to play. There is a good mix of challenging holes and holes that are easier to score on. The fairways were a little long when we played, but the greens were in very good shape. I would definitely recommend this course.
Course changes were worth the wait.
They finally finished the update of the back nine. Added new bunkers and other various changes (nothing major). Overall, I like most of the changes. New tee box on 10 gives more options for your tee shot. The changes on 13 slightly disappointed me, but I think they were made for flood control and not improved playability.
Course in excellent shape, thoroughly enjoyed our outing
Course in excellent shape. Greens a bit fast and sometimes hard to read. Hole #10 always a challenge but fun to play. Have played Fox Run many times and have always enjoyed the experience (especially when I play well). Looking forward to playing the course in the near future. Reasonable rates and courteous, friendly staff make the experience that much more enjoyable. One of the better public courses in the area and I highly recommend it.
Fox Run
Fast play, beautiful course and i'd recommend to a friend.
This course is very much improved from 2 years age.
I am impressed with the overall beauty of the course and customer focus of the staff. although not a long course, it offers enough challenge for an 18 handicapper like myself. I have recommended it to several people.
Greens in great shape
Played this years ago and it has improved a lot since then. The greens were in great shape and rolled quite true. All the rain made the course very lush. They changed some of the holes a little but it is still pretty much the same routing. Will likely go back.
Grill room was understaffed and I would recommend eating off site
Tree/bunker placement and water make shorter par 4/5's bigger obstacles
Fox Run was a good challenge for my (novice) skill level. Staff was friendly overall, but we definitely noticed a bigger presence to keep everyone on pace.
Get what you pay for
We played a 4-some round in 4 hours and 15 mins, which is what was recommended by the course. However, we were asked twice by staff to speed up play. Average score was 85 for our 4-some.
Not Bad
Course is kept up well. Nothing too challenging. Full price is expensive on the weekends, can get a better bang for your buck elsewhere. Not a bad course to play if you can get a discount.
A good muni course.
I had a very pleasant round. The course was in good shape; the fairways were well grown and maintained; the greens were fair and fast.
The course was in great condition.
Fox Run was in GREAT condition and the bunkers and water hazards are well placed to challenge any golfer.
Pricing is more than competitive everyday but when combined with the 16% Golf Now Discount it made the price $35 for 18 holes and probably the BEST VALUE in Chicago Area.
Great Greens - lots of water - take a cart
Greens in very good condition. Redo of back nine looks very good. Plays much easier after redo since back nine was the more difficult nine. No real grill. Long drives between some holes make a cart practical.
