Fox Run Golf Links
About
Fox Run Golf Links opened in 1984 but over the past two years the course underwent a major renovation that made the layout both more challenging for serious players but also more forgiving for the recreational golfer. The multi-million-dollar renovation included enhancements to the hole layouts, redesigning the bunkers, installing a new irrigation system, and creating new practice and chipping areas. Water comes into play often throughout the golf course and you'll find elevation changes on nearly every green. The water holes will be especially tough if you have a tendency to slice the ball. Thanks to the varied layout, which includes some holes that are wide open and others that are more target-style golf, you will get the opportunity to work on different types of shots. Fox Run Golf Links is a challenging but fair test that players of all skill levels can enjoy.

This course is very much improved from 2 years age.
I am impressed with the overall beauty of the course and customer focus of the staff. although not a long course, it offers enough challenge for an 18 handicapper like myself. I have recommended it to several people.
Greens in great shape
Played this years ago and it has improved a lot since then. The greens were in great shape and rolled quite true. All the rain made the course very lush. They changed some of the holes a little but it is still pretty much the same routing. Will likely go back.
Grill room was understaffed and I would recommend eating off site
Tree/bunker placement and water make shorter par 4/5's bigger obstacles
Fox Run was a good challenge for my (novice) skill level. Staff was friendly overall, but we definitely noticed a bigger presence to keep everyone on pace.
Get what you pay for
We played a 4-some round in 4 hours and 15 mins, which is what was recommended by the course. However, we were asked twice by staff to speed up play. Average score was 85 for our 4-some.
Not Bad
Course is kept up well. Nothing too challenging. Full price is expensive on the weekends, can get a better bang for your buck elsewhere. Not a bad course to play if you can get a discount.
A good muni course.
I had a very pleasant round. The course was in good shape; the fairways were well grown and maintained; the greens were fair and fast.
The course was in great condition.
Fox Run was in GREAT condition and the bunkers and water hazards are well placed to challenge any golfer.
Pricing is more than competitive everyday but when combined with the 16% Golf Now Discount it made the price $35 for 18 holes and probably the BEST VALUE in Chicago Area.
Great Greens - lots of water - take a cart
Greens in very good condition. Redo of back nine looks very good. Plays much easier after redo since back nine was the more difficult nine. No real grill. Long drives between some holes make a cart practical.
Convenient location and friendly staffs!
Your course improved well but I saw that fairways of some holes are still bare the ground. If you have an attention to this, your course will be perfect. I felt all your staffs became very friendly, especially a starter. See you again!
worth what we paid for.
The course is in good condition. The staff where pretty friendly. The course is manageable and pleasing to your sight.
Greens Nice, Fairways rough.
I've played this course many times over the past years. In all fairness, the area experienced record rains last week and this course floods often. That being said, the greens were probably the best I've ever seen them. The fairways (having not been cut in a while) were worse than some rough on many courses. The redesign on the back nine still needs time for the grass areas to "grow in". The fairways on this course, being lowlands and blue grass, have always been kind of poor in my opinion. The price they charge is comparable to many courses in the area with better fairways and greens. Still a "tight" and challenging fun layout.
course conditions
Due to the weather we were only allowed to play the front 9 holes. and it was cart path only due to the fairways being wet. Other than that this a really good golf course to play.
Location dictated and at $30 it was certainly worth it.
it's not the courses fault but the groups ahead of us really did
not fix their ball marks.........no biggie but I must have fixed 50 or so that were not mine. Thanks GolfNow - $30 with a cart this was a real good deal. Fox Run works hard to make it a decent course and it is. Fun....shot makers course -
Avoid at all costs
First of all, there are (3) basic requirements to call a stretch of grass a golf course. 1) Tee Boxes, 2) Fairways, 3) Greens. Guess which one Fox Run is missing.....Fairways! It's a cow pasture pure and simple. This course is for hackers, and people who play golf once a year. In addition, here are 2 other fun experiences when you make the mistake of playing here: 1) losing a well-hit driver ball because it disappeared into an uncovered drain hole in the "fairway," and a ranger sitting on the first par 3 waving different foursomes to all hit on the green at the same time before you can go play the hole. We were told they have 8-12 people shoot on this hole before anyone can go putt because it is very long and no one can hit it. Seriously, it's like 180 yards and my gf was able to stick it on the green no problem, let alone my me who can hit an iron 250. Save yourself the cash. This course should be ashamed to charge the rates they do when there are soooo many amazing courses within driving distance (Highlands of Elgin, Bowes Creek, Prairie Landing, Whisper Creek, Foxford Hills, Blackstone, and more!). I wouldn't give them $5.
great value
last day for this year, couldn't been better, 50 and sunny.
course in excellent shape.
Course undergoing renovation. It can only get better.
Enjoyed course before renovation of front 9. Now back 9 being renovated. Looking forward to playing course after full renovation.
