About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Lots of water, but fair
The course can be challenging, but overall was fair. Required strategy on a few holes. Overall, its a good value and a fun track.
Benches
Where are the benches for walkers? Just a couple of them. Pace of play great but for a walker a bench on the tee boxes would be nice.
Good course for mid-high handicappers
Course is a par 70 so only one par 5 on each 9. Short course - only 6500 from tips, playing nowhere near what the slopes say it should (much easier).
10 minute tee time intervals were great but there was no starter and we went off a little late. GPS in carts. Carts would monitor pace of play but all groups waited on par 3's. Decent variety of holes for a Midwest course - wide open, no forests.
Conditions were good - greens were very smooth and cut short, tee boxes mostly flat, fairway cut short, tee boxes cut short, rough cut to about 1.5 inches. Hated the sand - way too soft - was like hitting at the shores of Lake Michigan. No bounce-back at all from the club upon contact.
Carts
It was cart path only that day and everyone on the course was having problems of the carts "locking" while actually on the cart path! I called the clubhouse from the cart and was surprised it was a problem for the course to turn off the switch locking the carts. It was very frustrating for 3-4 holes until they were able to shut it off. I personally think it is not necessary for carts to lock, we are adults and can follow rules.
The conditions were not what they used to be in the past couple years
Our foursome found that the course conditions were lacking as far as weed control and lack of Cutting the rough fairly evenly. I know it’s early spring, but I’ve seen itje course in a lot better in the years past
Great course
Overall a great course. Used to work here for a season over a decade ago and it’s as good as I remembered. For being last day of April we had great weather and course was in decent shape. They had a few tee boxes closed but still was a great challenging course.
