Course Conditions - I have read the previous posts.

The staff did mention that there were some problems earlier in the year but they have been working to resolve this.I will say that the greens were in better shape last year.

Staff Friendliness - High praise to the staff in the Pro shop this day. Pleasant, friendly, and honest. Didn't experience any of the other staff.

Value For The Money -

I will give it OK.

I'd like to see some spend on the conditions for this price point. I'm willing to pay a little more to support the course and hope it remains in business

Course Layout -

The routing gets confusing if you haven't played here

There are signs, but I still mixed up 15/18.

The par 3's are some of the toughest combined play in the area. Long, over water, and bunkered well. Only made 1 par this day on the par 3's

Very walk able course, flat terrain and greens and tees are close the each other.

Off-Course Amenities -

I was disappointed there was no bev cart service while I was here. There may have been some earlier, but not at my tee time. There was a grill going with dogs and burgers at the turn. To be honest, I didn't come to hang out. Just wanted to support the course and enjoy it.

I have been inside for a drink, it's OK.

Interesting layout and reasonable pace of play. But the greens were unplayable due to large mud / burned out patches on at least half of the holes. Grounds/maintenance should be ashamed of presenting this kind of product, and if management had any pride in their course then they should have temporarily closed in order to fix these issues. Why do you think a first timer like me would ever give Calumet another chance when there are so many other reliable options at this price point? How can any full members - if there are still any - justify paying for a course with mostly unplayable greens?

This course has a ton of potential but it's in dire need of new ownership. With a modicum of care and effort, it could easily be turned into a well-maintained fully-public gem.

Great course....history on every hole.....one of a kind

This is my second round had better luck first time around. Course is in great condition and pace of play was fantastic. I brought out a friend and he loved it. He wants to play this course every week. Like most places right now food options are limited. We booked two more tee times before we left today.

played earlier in the year and loved it, course was lush, and looked an absolute steal for the green fee so was excited to play today ..

played today and it was burnt out. moss and patchy greens and tee boxes that hasn’t been maintained in months. looks like a sprinkler hasn’t been turned on in months.

played like a 25-30 dollar muni course

Course was in great shape had a fun and challenging round that made me think and strategize. Would definitely come back

Let me just say...I love old school golf courses, and this is right up my alley! My round start with a complimentary sack of range balls to get the kinks out for a 7:30 tee time. A very well kept range area on the east side of the property. I really liked the lay-out and the maturity of this old course. The rough was tough but manageable, and you can find your ball pretty easy. The fairways were well kept and the greens rolled true, except for a few that had seasonal damage (bare spots). The staff members were very nice. If you like an honest challenge, try this course. I think you'll like it!

I caddied at this course as a youngster and was excited to play it again, but very disappointed to see that the greens had a lot of brown patches and were poorly maintained. I was glad that I played as a solo and did not bring any friends along to see how run down this course has become. :-(

Calumet was a good course. The tee boxes and fairways were in great condition. Most of the greens rolled true and were in good condition, but a few need some maintenance. We played before 8am on a Sunday and had to wait on every single shot. Another thing I didn't like is with the semi-private atmosphere we had multiple members sneak out behind us, which resulted in them breathing down our necks as we waited on the slow play ahead of us. The course is decent value if they can figure out their pace of play & keep things moving.

Played here for the very first time today and just had a ton of fun!! The place opened in 1901, and the layout just screams classic golf course lines and challenges, with the exception of a hole or two on the back.

There were a couple of greens in fairly fought condition visually due to some bare spots, but overall the condition of the course was great...it’s obvious this was a private club not long ago!!

The staff inside was very friendly too!! This is a course I’d happily play everyday...give it a shot!!!

Greens are in rough shape, not worth the money. Cool to play because of the history but definitely not worth the premium they charge.

I have been wanting to play this course since it became Public last year given its history (one of Byron Nelson's wins in 1945 during his historic winning streak). I was concerned upon my arrival to see the practice green closed, but despite some brown patches the greens actually putted decently and very true. Some very well designed holes on this course, only a few ordinary ones. Only real complaints was the lack of food and drink options onsite and that a weed wacker/trimmer could be used in a few places to help you find a shot that may not have been great but was not terrible. Appreciate this course for the history, my bet is that is closed permanently next year given the poor socioeconomic condition of the south side of Chicago and it great location for warehouse developers directly of 294.

Was disappointed to see how much this course has fallen off since last year. Doesn't appear to have been taken care of very well, at all, which is sad to see happen to a Fonald Ross course that was only recently opened to public play. The course condition does not justify the cost.

I played this course for this first time last summer and was anxious to play it again, even though it's out of the normal price range I would pay. I even took a friend who is an avid golfer. The condition of the greens was atrocious. It was certainly not worth what I paid for the round. Had I known the greens were in such bad shape I would have not played or asked if I could get price relief.
