Good Value
Very good pace of play in just over 3 hours. Great routing and layout. Good conditions but greens are are just a little slow. Would definitely recommend
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Calumet Country Club!
Great value, great walk
Perfect course for walking with Covid restrictions. Some elevation changes, nothing too drastic or unbearable. Greens still a bit spongey and unpredictable but will grow in. Rough is THICK, keep the ball straight. Good weekday value and enjoyed the challenge. Will be back this year.

Calumet CC
Course layout is fun, range is average. Greens are tough because of condition.
Great Value
For it being late fall the course was in awesome shape, leaves could have been cleaned up a little better. Outside of a coupe of slow groups who I played through the pace of play was awesome, got 36 holes in 5 hours and 10 minutes. Value with the fall and replay rate were great!
A must play gem
I’m pretty sure this is the only full 18 Donald Ross course you can play in Chicago. Pace of play was fantastic, we had lunch before our round food was good, little slow getting it out but worth the wait.
There are are few holes that are load from the expressway, but this is a must play.
Top notch
Best conditioned public course in area hands down.
Lack of Available Carts Delayed Tee Times
It is too bad that Calumet Country Club was not prepared for the number of golf reservations made on this beautiful Fall day. We were told that there were 155 golfers, but only 50 to 60 available golf carts. Our 2:30 tee time was delayed for nearly 30 minutes as we waited for carts to come off of the 18th hole. Some golfers decided to walk rather than wait for the next available cart while at least one golfer decided to leave and try again another day. Although very friendly, there were not enough staff working - one person in the pro shop and one person working the carts. No on-course ranger to keep things moving along or to request golfers to complete their round in a timely fashion and pass their cart on to a group waiting to start their round. One twosome easily took 25 minutes to play the 18th hole as they were playing multiple balls and having a difficult time keeping track of errant shots. No tee starter to keep things under control and keep the tee times in order. Certainly not the right impression to make on golfers who ownership are wanting to consider becoming members of Calumet Country Club.
Once on the course, the round was quite enjoyable. Course conditions were a bit wet from the rain the previous day and evening. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in very good condition. Numerous ball marks on the greens, but once properly repaired, all putts were smooth rolling and green speed was fairly fast and consistent throughout the entire course. Unlike other reviews, no complaints regarding the course layout and the ease of finding the next tee - especially since a course diagram is included on the scorecard. The variety of hole design was good with a good mix of straight and dogleg holes in both directions and green complexes that differed throughout the course. Because of the delayed start, we were unable to finish our round before sunset. On the other hand, the pace of play was quick enough, despite the large number of golfers on the course, that we were able to play a total of 17 holes (played 1 - 15 and replayed 10 and 11) on a Sunday afternoon in 3.5 hours. I hope to return and play the entire course the next time.
CCCC
Course was to wet , grass had not been cut , Greens had way to much traffic, foot print and divots all over. People not repairing ball marks. Could have been much better if drier
Enjoy the round
The course was in good condition had a great time Hoping that the course stay open to public and not sell.
Great Course
Hard course in great shape. Great public country club. Great service. Overall great place.
Calumer Country Club - Excellent Course Conditions
This is the 2nd time playing this former private course. Fairways, greens and sand traps are all in fabulous condition. The pace was great as I finished in 3 hours (teed off at 1:00 pm). The only confusing thing is if you have a Golf Buddy satellite distance finder or other type, the front nine reads 10 through 18 and the back nine as one to nine. It appears they switched the two nines at some point, but the satellite reading was never changed. I am sure that will be your only issue as the course conditions are excellent!
Calumet Country Club is just OK
Enjoyed the staff and the check-in experience. Free range balls and short game area was a great surprise.
From the first tee the course seemed pretty repetitive. Fairways were wide and fair and bunkering was very impressive. Rough was extremely dense and penal. Water hazards don't come into play but definitely full of stagnant water.
Par 3's were lengthy on the front and shorter on the back but not memorable. Par 4's were constantly the save 350 or so throughout leaving long hitters wedge in. Par 5's provide some risk reward depending on the angle off the tee.
Both shot shapes can be played on most holes which was a great change from many older courses. But just seemed to lack character for a course almost 120 years old.
Play this gem
Fast play, extremely walkable, and great greens. This course is fun for the casual player, and challenging for the strong player. You can seriously zip around here in 3 hrs. Those complaining about the hwy have to understand it wasn’t there in 1901 when the course was built, and obviously things change. I do prefer the previous routing as the par 3 5th (formerly 14) is terrific.
Must Play
I have played this course twice and I was surprised how nice a course it is. You are playing a country club course. The layout is great with sizable fairways and greens. The greens are speedy and you must watch your distances into certain greens. I would play this course weekly.
Good value
Course was fun to play. Played in 3 hours / plus. Hardly anyone on the course.
