Ravisloe Country Club

Great experience. Absolutely love the old school nature of course routing and design. Great staff, practice facilities, and pro shop/restaurant. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area.

usually I only write reviews when there is/are problems that I want to warn future golfers about. but I was so impressed with the sand traps at Ravisloe that I wanted to go in print……they were the best of any course that we’ve played this year. now the half empty glass person in me needs to come out: we got behind a foursome that would have turned the round into 4.5 hours or worse. we made a quick/strategic move while they were eating hotdogs at the turn; we were able to finish in less than 4 hours. My problem: where have all the rangers been this year ?

The only way I would give Ravisloe a bad rating to to keep people away from this hidden gem. I love this course and wish it made our rotation a bit more often. Just a treat to play and a fair game for any level of player. You enjoy this course as much if you are a 5 handicap as you would with a 25.

One of the best courses in the state. It’s challenging and fun.

PACE: There was a full Sunday tee sheet. Despite 10 minute intervals, we waited at least 5 minutes on every tee box.

CONDITIONS: For early October the course was fine. I do agree with the comments below regarding bunker quality. There's not a lot of sand in the bunkers, and they were not in the best shape.

Also, the greens are full of ball marks... repair your ball marks!

STAFF: Very friendly and helpful.

VALUE: Got a deal online, which seemed fair. Their full rate seems to be a bit high given the condition of the course.

LAYOUT: It's a Donald Ross design, so the layout is awesome. Also, IMO the Black (back) tees play further than the yardage on the scorecard. Do consider the hybrid tees.

This is an excellent course. It was finely cut and challenging. You can use all of your clubs.

The group in front of us was taking forever so we requested a ranger, but eventually had to also call the clubhouse to actually get a ranger out there. We were waiting 30 minutes at the turn because these guys were clueless and looking for balls. We had to pull our balls out of the bunkers because most of them were just dirt and unusable. The greens were in rough shape and needed to be rolled. There was no beverage cart either on the course, so we had to wait until the turn. It's absurd this place is $110 to play. Don't waste your money here, right down the road is Calumet Country Club for $30 less and more fun.

Not sure what planet people are living on, but this course is not a $90+ course. $50? Sure. That's reasonable. Even the hot deals are absurd. I've played this course many times over the years for $35, and at that price, I'd play it multiple times a year. Whoever is in charge of the pricing needs to see a head doctor.
