Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
About
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont is conveniently situated just a half hour outside downtown Chicago. Pete Dye and his son P.B. collaborated to design the course, making it the only Dye design in the Chicago area. A well thought-out strategy will be greatly rewarded on this challenging layout and bad shots made without any thought will be severely punished. This is definitely not a golf course where you can just grip it and rip it. The fairways are fairly straight and forgiving, but most of the approach shots play to tricky elevated greens. There are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's par 3s have a reputation for being particularly challenging. But depending on how windy it is, the final hole might present the most formidable challenge.

Great but a little slow
I continue to come to ruffled feathers on sunday afternoons. For $39, its tough to find a better deal. I play from the tips at 6,900 yards and it is every bit of that. The par 3's are extremely challenging while the par 5's are very scorable. I recommend this course to anyone looking for a nice challenge.
Blind shots
Tough to play without any course knowledge. Greens rolled true
Great course, horrible pace of play
Ruffled Feathers is a fantastic course in good condition. The only problem is that the pace was so bad, it pretty much ruined the experience. It literally took 3 hours to complete the front 9 (no exaggeration), which is completely ridiculous. The course would not issue a full refund, which I felt would have been the right thing to do for a course like that given the exorbitant amount of time it took to play.
RF
Good course that's in good shape. I will play frequently.
WOW!
Probably the best course I have ever played. Only other courses that come close to this for me are Aurora Country club, TPC Deere Run, and the General. Ruffled Feathers beats them all in my opinion. Its very challenging and about 12/18 holes could be considered signature holes.
Getting back to what it used to be
Took my dad for early father's day and was paired up with a couple good guys. The course was in really nice shape, much better than last year. The greens were rolling slower than expected for the reputation I remember RF had, but greens were in nice shape overall. Some bunkers were nice and some were brutal but lots of rain lately so prob hard to keep up. I was hoping to shoot around 90 but shot a 94 after a 10 on 18, ouch. Thanks Tin Cup for inspiring me not to take a drop! Need more TVs in the bar. I'd play here again.
No rangers, SLOW PLAY
Groups before us that day did not repair ball marks on greens. This was really bad conditions all greens poor.
Too many tee times crammed together. A ranger should have had groups pick up speed or skip holes.
Not like it used to be in the old days. Needs much work done . Glad I used Golf Now for price. Bad hot dog :(
Tough course, in great shape
The course has strategically placed bunkers, several water hazards, a few forced carries off the tee, and large, undulating greens. A definite challenge, but fun to play
Would Play Again
I was really excited to play this Pete Dye design, though it seems that they might not have the budget to keep up the conditions at the level to really see this course shine. Still, it's a course worth playing and I intend to do it again. The only problem was there wasn't a starter (it was a Friday afternoon)-- I was a single and supposed to be paired with another single but he took off 20mins early and caused some delays for the rest of us. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and competent.
Nice Track!
Lucked out for a round at $36.00. Great Value and course is in good conditions beside evident heavy rains as of recent. Will play again soon.
Ruffled Feathers
Course was in great shape. A lot of rain in past few days limited us to cart path only, but overall great experience.
Great track
Never played because it was too expensive. Great place to play!
SPRING GOLF AT A GREAT PACE
Course was in good shape and the pace of play was great.
Challenges seen and unseen
Good challenges on every hole; some very good shots end up in a hazard you cannot see. Higher rating if carts had GPS to see what you're up against to plan your approach.
Green consistency good; would be better if all players repaired their ball marks.
Rangers need to help keep pace as we waited for groups ahead on all but 4-5 holes.
As a single player, have enjoyed my GolfNow pairings with really nice people.
I'll be back.
A Beautiful and Difficult Course
First time playing here and overall i liked this course. The fairways, greens, and tee boxes were maintained very nicely. Tight Fairways make for a difficult scoring round.
This course will make u use every club in the bag to navigate efficiently. Lots of water in play and holes 16/17/18 might b the three toughest holes coming in in Chicago area.
I wish the course could offer at least a yardage book for sale in pro shop because there is no GPS or even 150 stakes in fairways.
April 1 @ Ruffled
Considering it was April 1 and nothing has had a chance to grow yet, the course was in great shape.
The outstanding undulations and hazards
Although I have only been golfing for 2 years I have had the pleasure of playing in excess of 40 courses. Although it is now nearing winter I managed to pick up my final round at probably the best course I've played for a mere $28. The fall had taken its normal toll upon the greens and fairways yet this course was outstanding to play. The fairways were very varied, there was water in almost every hole and I can safely say there was more bunkers than I've ever seen on 18 holes. During the spring and summer months I am sure this course will excel and would be worth the full green fees of $96. Overall I would give the course a solid 9 out of 10. Only let down was the lack of food on offer on the turn.
