I had a blast
Me and my friends were in town for a wedding and played a quick 18 before things got serious. The guy behind the counter named Tyler was awesome. It started with us having the same name and he joked around with us and we were all laughing. The course is pretty good and the greens are awesome! I definitely recommend Saturday morning just to joke with Tyler haha. (I told you I’d write a review)
Just so so
Arrived to check in and computer system was down. Gentleman behind desk was nice but unfortunately had issues. Couldnt get range balls since their system was down. I would have thought that maybe they would put some balls on range to warm up with but didnt. We had a little rain here last night for the first time in a bit. Course looked like it had been raining for a month. Very wet. We played behind a twosome that were videoing their swings. We never were offered the chance to play through. I keep giving this course a shot but there are many courses in this area that are in better shape and much more fun to play. I will play again but it will be a while.
They think it’s a country club - LOL!
The staff acts like this is an elite country club. It is not. The course is in pretty poor condition, to include big gashes in the greens that haven’t even been sanded. The old club shop guy is a jerk. Doesn’t seem to appreciate Golfnow customers and is rude. We went here because it was a cheap “hot deal” and our first choice was not available. Won’t make that mistake again. We’d be better off playing Knox Municipal for cheaper. Same conditions.
A real gem!
If you like great fairways, superb greens and a challenging layout this is the course for you.
Tennessee Centennial in August
Centennial is always a fun course.
Pros
1. It has at least 6 very unique holes.
Not crazy holes, just unusual but very playable.
2. It’s a course where having some local knowledge can save you several strokes.
3. Pretty good clubhouse with restaurant and pro shop.
4. Self braking golf carts with GPS. The self braking carts are a bonus on the hilly
Terrain.
5 fairways and greens are usually I pretty good shape.
6. Great deals on Golf Now.
7. On a normal day the pace of play is pretty good.
Cons- Not many.
1. No drink and snack cart. They did have water on several tees.
2. Bathrooms on the course could be cleaner.
3. Several holes had squishy places in the fairway from the irrigation system.
Golf Pro is a JackA**
The weather was terrible and the Pro would not allow us to rebook or cancel unless we walked away charged without playing, we played anyways. He was rude and unprofessional. When we asked how we could get a refund he snickered and said good luck.
The course is in excellent condition and is challenging. I recommend if you can avoid the pro. The course does not like you to book online.
Nice to see it looking good again.
I used to play here often but stopped a couple years ago bc the course was regularly in poor shape. I played the front 9 last weekend and was very pleased to see it looking good again. I'm looking forward to playing a full 18 again soon.
Challenging Greens!
Tough front 9 followed by a tough, but forgiving back 9. Challenging greens that ran pretty true. Pace of play was slow only because it was the first nice weekend in a month! Would definitely recommend!
Local course
This is the only public course in Oak Ridge, therefore the price, course, and availability of tee times are good. It has loads of potential and can be a great course if managed correctly.
For a high handicapper it's a good test, but for skilled players doesn't push you too far
In rough shape
Last year the course was in great shape, but can’t say the same for this year!
Tough layout...slopes and hills
Overall OK ....nothing to rave about. The greens are in good shape and hold very well. Most fairways are in good condition. You will find some bare spots in some fairways and around a few collars. A good value for the money...this course is uphill ...downhill..offering several hazards. The clubhouse seems to be in remodel....mode ....no one was working the snack area at 2 PM on a Tues ???? unusual.
Getting better!
The new management is making a difference. Staff friendliness is much better. Couse is getting there. No more knee high second-cut grass. Greens are in better shape than I have seen them in a while. Clubhouse is having a major overhaul. The deli will be done by the end of May. I am looking forward to things to come. It can only get better, and it already has.
fun course
Beautiful course that is challenging and fun to play.
The course has seen a lot of water recently and it has hendered the ability to grow grass in some key areas. Though it was early in the season, I’ve seen the course in much better shape. Greens were very fast, but in decent shape. Though I marked the recommend to a friend, I would give it another month or six weeks and it should be good to go, pending rain fall.
They are still working on the #7 tee box, so expect a shorttened hole and construction. It appears that they are updating the clubhouse inside and it looks great. The front desk staff and waitress were friendly and helpful.
New management
The course has been taken over by the city of Oak Ridge. There are quite a few problems with the course but are being addressed. It will take in my opinion at least a couple of months to straighten it out. That being said it was a very nice course in the past. I'm sure it will be fixed in the future. I would wait a little while before playing.
Very good
I played during the end of winter and the fairways were brown and damp so not much roll on the ball but was a lot of fun. Some holes you had to plan your shot. Like all the course I’ve played here lots of hills. Looking forward to better weather and play it again.
